The food quality was exceptional along with the service. We arrived 20 minutes early and we were still seated promptly. Hayley I. is a true gem. She provided us with the best service we have ever experienced… one would call it (VIP) treatment. Hayley was extremely kind and a genuine person. You can tell she values her job and wants her customers to have an amazing experience when dining in. I give this place 10 stars if I could 5 just because of Hayley and her exceptional service and another 5 for the amazing food! Thank you Hayley!!
The food and service was excellent. The kitchen took a long while to get the food out but that’s to be expected with the world coming back to life.
The issue we had was the ambiance. I had requested an indoor table, but there weren’t any available supposedly although we witnessed several open in the main dining room.
This would’ve been okay if they devoted just a bit of effort in sprucing up the decor on the outside tables. There’s two sections outside: the legacy area which has nice tables and chairs and some character and the add-on section that used to be part of the parking lot and is now tented and used for extra space.
We were unfortunately seated in the add-on section which looks like something from a bad banquet area at a hotel. In fact, I’m wondering if they literally borrowed the sets from the hotel across the way! Anyways, no thought or consideration to adding a plant in the middle of the table or even salt and pepper canisters! It was uninspiring and didn’t match up to the price point of restaurant.
I was looking forward to dining at Flemings and had decided to reserve as I had researched for the last several weeks and read so many AMAZING reviews! I always surprise my husband with a steakhouse dinner for date night to celebrate his special day! Husband’s Birthday / Father’s Day Celebration which was specified in my reservation, hostess was not accommodating at all and really started off our experience on a negative note telling us we were sitting outside no questions asked with quite an attitude in her tone and unpleasant demeanor. The other hostess was a bit more friendly and apologetic but it just felt awkward in the long run. We understand this was the first weekend of San Diego being fully open under the Covid-19 circumstances and restrictions being lifted but the restaurant was not prepared and you noticed this right away. Once seated we were greeted by our table assistant server with water and bread (respectful gentleman) then soon after our server for a round of drinks(she was pleasant) The timing of our appetizers (calamari yummy but not very warm) main dishes were lukewarm as well and my husband’s filet mignon you could tell it had been sitting for a bit, super over cooked on the outside. Again our server was as chipper as she could be due to the situation but you could could feel that stress of all the employees you were in contact with. I don’t usually write reviews and have worked in restaurants and customer service roles throughout my lifetime so I genuinely understand a certain aspect being the employee on the otherwise. We were incredibly disappointed by our dining experience and overall didn’t hit the mark! My husband is sweet and understanding but he agreed everything was off. We went to a different restaurant the next day for Father’s Day lunch and our overall experience from being greeted by the friendly hostesses, seated quickly, nice area for outdoor dining, service, food / drinks were a complete 360 in the positive direction.
Great location, but 2 if our 4 steaks were cold and extremely under cooked. Sides were tasty, get the brussel sprouts
Hailey is the BEST!!
The La Jolla location does not match up to the standards we've come to expect from our experiences in Tucson, AZ. The food was not very hot. The manager was present, but he never once made eye contact. This team seems sad.
Delicious meal. We enjoyed it very much.
Great service from the hostess and waitress!
Expected STANDARD INDOOR seating, was provided outdoor seating on a chilly night with a baby, not trying to freeze to death however not trying to get $200 to-go
We spent our anniversary with wonderful food and company. This was our first time dining here and it was fabulous. We started with salad that were perfect. Great combination of flavors without too much dressing. Steaks were cooked perfectly. We tried it of with the chocolate lava cake. I've never had better. The service was excellent. They were helpful, but not intrusive. It was a perfect evening.
I had a reservation and when I walked in the manager asked me to wear a mask, to which I had no objections. I asked if they could give me one. After 5 minutes the manager offered two used cloth masks and said “ you’re welcome to borrow these which belong to our kitchen staff”. I declined and went to the car to get my own and thinking why would anyone offer a guest used kitchen staff masks when they are here for a first class dining experience? Then came the seating experience - the restaurant was near empty but I was seated in the loudest part, next to the kitchen. I requested a different table which took a while given the occupancy at the time. The waiter was really nice.
Overall an extremely poor experience!
Had an amazing experience at this Fleming's location, it was our first time and had a great experience celebrating my husband's birthday. Service was attentive and food was great! We enjoyed our dinner date. We definitely plan on coming back.
Too much crust on tomahawk steak, too away from flavor of meat.
Fleming potatoes were more cheese then potatoes as well.
Food and service were very good. Steak was not trimmed enough. Ended up with a large pile of fat left over.
Tables very spaced out indoors and outside. Meal was perfect, steaks cooked as ordered
The food, service, and ambiance at Flemings are all outstanding! We had a Caesar salad, and creamed spinach which were both excellent, my girlfriend had the Main Fillet, which was perfect. I had the aged ribeye, which was very good, but not nearly as good as the filet. Obviously, it is an expensive evening when you dine at Fleming’s; however, the quality is worth the price.
Fantastic food from the unique butter and bread at the start to the cauliflower mash..exquisite!
We were there to celebrate a promotion. Food arrived an hour after placing the order. Our waitress didn’t check in at all. Steak was over cooked. The manager was nice enough to take it off our bill. We had higher expectations for an expensive steakhouse to cook the meat right. We tipped the waitress very high, 75% of our bill, to not feel like we got a free steak. It wasn’t for a free meal, we were there to celebrate and yet we felt that the service we received was lacking and the food was less than the price tag.
Service and food was excellent! Will be back soon
Incredible New York steak and sides!
I made reservations via open table (from the Fleming's website link) and the options for seating indicated Standard or Outdoor. I selected Standard (as this implied would be indoor since the other option was to select Outdoor). The hostess said that she had no record of my selection and it didn't come through. I showed my email and she said that there was nothing she could do. Since, it was too late for me to make reservations anywhere else, we ended up staying and being in the walking path of people walking into the restaurant. The outdoor tent could have had the clear wall so as to keep the wind down (this would have also helped to direct the foot traffic of people walking in between Fleming's and Trulucks). The serving assistant never brought back a replacement knife for my husband when we showed that it wasn't clean. The one bright spot of our whole experience was our waiter, Chip, and the meal.
Good food, exceptional service! Michael was great, cannot wait to go back.
I made reservations for indoor dining, but they sat us outside. The reason people make reservations is to have a peace of mind on the table being ready. Not only did we not get seated inside, they placed us on the back corner where it was loud and dark. That really set the mode for the whole night. Eating an expensive steak outside where it was cold, dark, and loud next to the valet just made for a terrible dining experience.
Our server was great service was good food was also amazing the lobster mac and cheese is killer
We arrived on time and was seated right away. Our waitress was great and on the ball.
The food was excellent. Steaks tasted wonderful.
We celebrated our 21st year anniversary.
Everything was as good as we had hoped for.
Tomahawk Tuesday was excellent & server April was exceptional! Great food & service.👍
The food was amazing and the service was great. The only thing that was a little bothersome was that they couldn’t seat us inside because it was at COVID capacity already and I understand that. The thing is was we already had a reservation. And we didn’t mind if they gave us the option to sit outside while waiting for an inside table to open later but they didn’t give us that option. Other than that the overall experience was great.
Great meal and service here, always.
Though I am not a local, I come to town often for business and this is definite "go-to" spot for me.
Wait staff is great and knowledgeable too !
Food was great so was the outside dinning but our server was just so absent minded. Of course she suggested the most expensive wine on the menu then when we asked for the wine we had to ask three times just to get it. The steak was absolutely amazing but when you pay that much you expect top notch service
Understanding that things are just starting to open back up we are lowering our bar of acceptable dining. In this case the service was still slow and fragmented but not terrible by any stretch. Our server was clearly busy and other team members tried but there is still not quite enough staff to make it normal. The food was great! Quality and well prepared. All in our group were very pleased. This is one of our favorite places to celebrate and it was a double anniversary. The team provided us with chocolate truffels and a glass of champagne which was a very classy touch. All in all a very enjoyable evening
Our first dinner dining-in since early March of last year, & we were celebrating both our 37th Anniversary & both of us being fully vaccinated. We’d been looking forward to this for weeks & were excited to finally be dining inside. The ambiance was nice & we had the bar area to ourselves for the first hour, so it was nice & quiet. Both the hostess & our bartender wished us a Happy Anniversary, the drinks were good & most of the food was good. But my husband’s prime filet mignon was stringy, & no one ever stopped by to ask how our dinner was even though many walked by our table. We asked for boxes for all of our leftovers except his steak, & even then no one questioned us. When our table was being cleared my husband spoke up & let the server know the steak was not tender. The manager was called over & he apologized & said he would take it off of the bill. We then ordered espresso & cappuccino to go with dessert, our coffees came & our dessert showed up about 15 minutes later. The carrot cake was surprisingly dry & grainy in texture. When the bill came, the filet mignon had not been taken off so we had to inform our server. The manager came by again & apologized for not telling our server. What should have been a very wonderful, memorable anniversary dinner turned into a disappointing evening, especially for my husband. Our drinks, appetizer, salad, sides & my entree (Chilean Sea Bass) were wonderful. But a steakhouse, especially a high-end steakhouse, should never serve bad cuts of meat! That filet should have been so tender it would be like cutting through butter. This was our second visit to a Fleming’s Steakhouse & will most likely be our last.
Quality of the rib eye was beyond poor and the filet was over cooked
Great service from our Portugese barman at the bar! he was so attentive and sweet.
we had a 7pm reservation and ordered at 715. we had not received our dinner by 9pm, we did not order an appetizer , no explanation from our waiter, nothing from the management. So at 915 we left.
Food and service were great. Disappointed that we were not seated indoors. Changed my reservation once San Diego was give the clear to seat indoors. My original reservation was at 5:15, changed to 7:45. Made this visit a little uncomfortable, overhead heater where we sat was not working.
Great food and atmosphere
Wonderful experience for a birthday celebration! I can’t wait to go back.
