Great experience. Delicious food.
Love the restaurant, great service and food! We ordered the tasting menu and it was great :)
Great view, nice staff, delicious food and pleasant ambience
This is one of the finest locations imaginable, on the third floor of the Pan Pacific convention centre complex, overlooking Coal Harbour. The ambience is outstanding. No overcrowding, easily able to carry on a nice conversation without hearing anybody else’s. A refreshing change from so many new hip eateries. Vey nice amuse bouche, several appealing appetizers. The warm and cold seafood trio was outstanding. Wife’s sea bass entree was excellent, my veal tenderloin wrapped in pancetta was just okay. Should’ve known better, as I’ve been disappointed with veal too often in my life. Its hard to give it much flavour.
The restaurant, the meal, the service was all first rate.
Where this restaurant fails is in its wine list. The web site intriguingly suggests otherwise “wine list upon request”. I expected twenty or thirty fine local BC reds, with multiple varietals and price points from the many top notch Okanagan wineries. Not so. A few BC reds, A small selection of Bordeaux and Burgundies, a few Napa/Sonoma/Willametes. Thats about it. The same with whites.
A world class location and a fine menu deserves a better wine selection.
Loved the Five Sails. Service was outstanding and only outdone by the view which included a bald eagle perched on one of the sails watching us eat. Wow!
What a great experience. From the fantastic food to the epic view, we will always put Five Sails on our list of things to do when in Vancouver!
We were running late but still received a window table Clearing if used glasses and plates could of been a little faster but it was a full restaurant
For a dinner with relatives I had not seen in years, this restaurant was convenient & quiet.
We had a window table and a view of a cruise ship for most of the meal, but a lovely view of the harbour, once the ship moved on. The food was good, & beautifully presented. Service was attentive & service was quick. I thought it good value for money but overall was underwhelmed.
Really the view is what makes this a good restaurant.
There are so many more spectacular restaurants to eat at in Vancouver. For our next meal together, I will choose somewhere where the food is the star attraction.
The restaurant was a real pleasant surprise. Located in the Pan Pacific Hotel it was only walking distance. We reserved a table and had a lovely view on a cruise ship that sailed why we were dining. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. We went for the tasting menu en it was perfect, heavenly.. We found out that the chef was Austrian, and he did really a perfect job : great combinations of tastes, beautifully presented. Excellent service. We would really recommend this restaurant for special occasions.
A beautifully located restaurant with views over the north shore of Vancouver, we happened to be there just as the sun was setting and the views were great, they made sure that the blinds were down just enough to stop the sun getting in your eyes, were attentive, and the food was great! There was also a cruise ship moored up close by, which led to some great people watching on board too, spectacular scenery!
Five Sails was by far our favorite restaurant during our stay in Vancouver!! Delicious food, wonderful service and WOW, what a beautiful setting... the views are amazing. Quite simply, our experience could not have been better. My husband got the lobster as his main course and I chose the sole. We had a feast of appetizers that we just couldn't pass up, one being their scallops. Treat yourself to an amazing meal!
Incredible view, fabulous food, terrific service, what can I say?
Booked 5 Sails for my birthday meal. Fantastic service quality ingredients perfectly cooked a truly special experience.
Dining at the Five Sails Restaurant is always a treat! You absolutely can count on exceptually well prepared food served by a very professional wait staff. And the water view could not be better.
The view is sensational, the food was fantastic as well. The desserts are well worth saving room for. We went for my birthday and the waiter staff and chef went the extra mile to make it memorable.
Beautiful place and ambiance. Lovely night
I wanted this event to be a special event for my sister Fay. She thoroughly enjoyed the special attention she received. The cherry on the top was when they brought out a beautiful slice of cake and a piece of chocolate that read "just because..." The service from Gaetano(?) and all the other staff was supercalifragicxpealidocious! The food was beyond reproach and wonderfully tasty and cooked and served perfectly
Thank you so very much for making this a rememorable evening. With heartful thanks, Marci.
From the personal greeting by Gerry Sayers as we walked in, the evening unfolded as one course after another proved the culinary talent of Ernst Dorfler and his team. The views are spectacular and the wait staff is attentive, experienced and unobtrusive. If you are looking for a quiet romantic place with world class dining, this is it!! Kudos to Dorfler & Sayers.
Great Service! They really go above and beyond to make the experience enjoyable. Food was awesome as well!
Wonderful service and fabulous food. A great evening!
This was our third or fourth visit, and just like the preceding ones everything was outstanding. Next time we're in Vancouver we'll definitely be back. Wonderful food.
Food and service were excellent. Fabulous view and great location
Excellent service and magnificent food. Outstanding view and overall dining experience.
This is second time in a month dined at Five sails. The first time was amazing and unbelievably the second time the staff surpassed our expectations.
They consistently get a 5 star rating from us for everything. We’ll be back!
Todo fue perfecto !
La reservación se respetó, tuvieron detalles ya que festejamos un cumpleaños y el lugar es muy lindo
excellent food and service! we had to wait for abit for our main course but we noticed whyy....because Rod Stewart was dining behind us :)
Love this place, we are always happy to visit. The food is fantastic and the service is incredible.
Great food and location. Service is exceptional and wine selection is outstanding.
WE were very much looking forward to celebrating our 44 Years of marriage at 5 Sails and it did not disappoint!! The weather cleared up,the harbor was busy with planes coming and going, the window seats were perfect..The food(Beef medallions and rack of lamb) with presentation done by our wonderful server from start to finish was......DIVINE!!! Thank you for making this Anniversary one to remember for awhile...See you again soon !!
I always enjoy Five sail, had other fantasy Dinner with my family
Fantastic food and service! The surver was very knowledgeable and helped us pick a great wine to go wine with our food. The duck was cooked to perfection and the “catch” was delicious! Highly recommend!
Wonderful service. A rare treat to experience a meal with presentation and tasty flavour. The view of Coal harbour and the Convention was scenic. Wine selection offered a wide selection with many BC wines as an option. Everything about this dining experience was nice.
Food was Absolutely delicious. ☺ we will definitely come again and recommend it to others. ( they should notify you on the price of the specials before ordering). But prices on menu were good.
I was quite disappointed with the food at the Five Sails. I understand you pay the high price for the ambience and the fact that the restaurant is situated in a five star hotel. However, I value more for the food. Don't get me wrong here. The quality of food was fresh and excellent. However, for the cost of over $180 for two with no wine ordered I was expecting a little higher.
The plating was quite poorly executed. There were redundancy in the chef's design. Tempura as a side was used twice in two of the dishes we ordered that night. The use of fusion wasn't a wise choice. The chef should have focused on his forte rather than throwing in something that would show his inadequacy. In brief the tempura was soggy. The sauce made for the seafood salad was poorly done. It was too sour which took away the natural flavour of the seafood. Unfortunately, the seafood, scallop, shrimp, and crab, all inevitably tasted the same without much distinction. The plate could have been called Seafood Uno rather than trio!
The soups were good but not great at the price we paid.
The entrees were good but nothing of spectacular that would give you a WOW factor.
Lastly, the dessert was by far the most disappointing one that the two of us couldn't finish it not because we were full but it was quite distasteful. I liken it to having two Oreo cookies with few slices of overly ripen banana therein.
Ok...Happy? Sure, always a great experience with my wife any where we go. Would I go back to Five Sails? Ah...mostly likely not.
Great food, very friendly and professional service, amazing view
We come to the Sails every year or two for a special date night away from the children. We always feel royally spoiled with our experience because the staff are impeccable with their fine dining experience. Being fine dining, the portions are small but not ridiculously so. Have an appetizer, main and dessert, and you'll have thr complete palette experience and feel full.
This was our first visit to five sails. The food , the view & the service will definitely bring us back. We will not hesitate to recommend your hotel & Fine dining too everyone.
Thank you again , for making our family day weekend memorable.
Everything was perfect and in point. I will be back next year for my anniversary.
Outstanding venue and view. Superb food and service. Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful dinner for the last evening of our family vacation. Food, service, and view were all fantastic. A true fine dining experience \.
