We went to Five Roses for St. Patrick's Day. Disappointingly, by 7 pm they ran out of corned beef and cabbage, which is what my father-in-law had been planning to order. Fish tacos (mine) were mediocre. The Irish nachos and the fried calamari were very good. Will give them another try. Assume maybe things just got a little out of wack due to the big crowd (although that should have been expected on March 17th, at an Irish pub).
Was ok, but slowly service.
Food quality was a farce. Google Olde Blinde Dog Milton, Ga for how it should be. “Tenderloin tips” is false advertising. Sirloin is Sirloin. Tenderloin come from a completely different part of the cow. Wish I had ordered Bangers and Mash to see if Irish fare was acceptable. Salmon was cold and undercooked...really cold and undercooked!
Full of fun and people. Awesome service and thanks to open table we got in to eat in 5 minutes.
The food was terrific. I had the spring rolls (corned beef!) and chicken pot pie and both were good. Drinks were fine and the waitress was very friendly. We were celebrating a birthday and just hanging out to talk and we were given privacy and hours at the table with no feeling of being rushed. Now if only GPS could find it more easily ......
We were in the Rosemont area for a business retreat, we do this every year and always enjoy dinner at 5 Roses Pub. Nigel is a great waiter with a good sense of humor! The live music on Saturday night was awesome, so we give a special shout out to Johnny - what a great time!
Our food was excellent and our server was awesome! He was very attentive and gave great recommendations for menu choices.
Waitress was outstanding. Lights were really dark and annoying, changing color every few minutes.
The restaurant is fine if it's for clubbing. But it's 6:30 p.m. dinner it just was way too loud in the place. I was sitting exactly next to my companion and I could not hear a word she was saying. The food I ordered an appetizer of Irish nachos and while it did describe that it had peppers in it that were hot the peppers were excruciating Lee Hot even the liquid from the peppers on to the fries were almost edible
Quite Monday. Service was average, food was bar food. Mixed drinks were okay for the price. Overall, just an average place in the entertainment district of Rosemont, IL.
GREAT SERVICE ,LIVE MUSIC AND FOOD
LOVE THIS PLACE
PLACE ITSELF IS VERY ELEGANT AND COZY AT THE SAME TIME
We had a 5pm reservation and were seated immediately upon our arrival. After 15 minutes of being completely ignored, we left and went across the courtyard to another restaurant where we had a wonderful time. I would recommend Five Roses to no one for any reason. If you can't even get a drink in an Irish pub, what is the point?
If you are looking for a restaurant to have a quiet conversation between friends on a Saturday night, this is NOT the restaurant for you.
There are three separate areas to this establishment which is a perfect set up to have at least one quiet area in the back.
The Cobb salad was perfect; crisp and crunchy and refreshing. The fish for the fish and chips were over battered.
The cold food came out cold and the hot food came out hot. The wait staff was pleasant and professional.
We had a great time Saturday at Five Roses. Our waiter, Ty, was super friendly and helpful and the live music by Peter was so much fun! He sang great music and really had a good voice. We sat up front but it still wasn't too loud to have a conversation We all really enjoyed our food. I hope we make it back soon and Peter is playing again!
We made a reservation at Five Roses for a girls' night out, and they had no heat. They contacted me by phone 20 min prior to reservation (which I didn't answer, because I was driving), to let me know. The people I was meeting arrived, they let them in, and then put them in a corner and locked the door. They were the only people there, and they didn't intend to let anyone else in, because.... there was no heat.
So-- we didn't want to eat there because a) it was 5 degrees out and b) we didn't want a sneeze burger because the staff was mad at working in a cold restaurant.
The whole experience was weird, and communication wasn't great. I will try Five Roses again; I've been there in the summer, and it's a fun place to eat. I also didn't get my points from OpenTable for some reason... I'm guessing because my reservation wasn't "fulfilled". Awesome. Luckily, it's in a big complex of restaurants, so we just went to another place.
Celebrating a birthday
I was very excited to go to Five Rose's on Saturday night, never been there. We were seated by a nice young lady. It was only 6 pm, so the crowd was still pretty light. The wife and I sat down to review the menu and order a drink. Then 1, 2, 3, and 4 waitress walked by and not a word was spoken. We sat there for over 10 minutes waiting to order a drink, still no waitress. So after 12 minutes we got up and left. We were rather disappointed!
Nice restaurant with live music. We had A reservation and were seated right away. Appetizers were good, but we think that the server forgot to order our dinner. We had empty beer glasses most of the time we were there, and while we were finishing up our appetizers she brought us the check without us receiving our dinner. We decided we had been sitting there long enough, paid for our appetizers and drink (no offer to make up for the forgotten dinner), and headed over to Hofbrauhaus instead. The server’s excuse was that she didn’t know they didn’t bring us dinner. We think she forgot to put it in.
Good food good service. NOISY table behind us then as more people entered it got really hard to hold a conversation.
Reservations we're ready, requested to be in bar area to see the entertainment, had perfect seats. Great waiter never let us go empty.
We we're there for lunch on a Thursday and it was fairly empty. So it wasn't a very lively bar experience
Was getting together with friends and had a great time at Five Roses. Food was perfect pub food; I had a tasty corned beef sandwich with Kerry gold cheddar that was killer. Our waitress was attentive without hovering. We sat inside but with the doors open on a beautiful fall day we enjoyed the outdoors as well.
This was a random choice for dinner before going to a concert in the area and we couldn't have been happier. Tasty food, good selection, fast service. The meal was better than the concert! Highly recommend.
We really enjoyed the appetizers! The service was great. Went for an informal business dinner. Perfect spot.
The food is not great. They used to have a different menu that was much better.
The short rib entree was great. Melt in your mouth. The wait service was slow. We had to ask to be greeted at our table two times. Drinks expensive. The bar was out of sweet vermouth (a bar out of anything???).
Sat outside but airplane noise made talking difficult. Food was ok. Husband liked the Ruben appetizer a lot.
I don't know what the bad yelp reviews are for - my burger was delicious (everyone in my group was pleased with the food). It was clean, and the atmosphere was vibrant (music but not too loud). It was a girls' night, and we had a great time!
Five Roses always delivers. Irish comfort food in a pleasant setting. Out drinks were outstanding (I do appreciate when I spend money on a cocktail that I can actually tell it contains alcohol.) The food was prompt, hot, and delicious. Our servers were attentive and friendly. Our actual table was a bit small, but we just kept passing unused items/plates to passing servers who graciously helped out.
We had a group of six for a Monday night dinner. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. We were seated right away. Good variety of food and drinks. There was a mix of fish & chips, fish tacos, flat bread, and a short rib sandwich ordered. Everyone was very happy with their choices. Nothing but good things were said about the quality of the food. Our waitress was there just enough and was quite knowledgable of the menu. I'll be back!
We enjoyed our meal at 5 Roses, but there were a few draw backs. They seated us right next to the band when there were plenty of open tables. It made it really difficult to visit with our friends. Second, the Shepherd's Pie was a really small portion for the price. Next, our server was good, but didn't refill our water often enough. Finally, Sunday Brunch is not a big brunch spread, it's just a brunch menu. That wasn't clear on the website. Overall, I'd go back, but I'd be looking at the sandwiches which my friends had to eat. They were big & delicious. The Bloody Marys were good & the Irish band was very enjoyable!!
A nice pub in an entertainment and restaurant oasis. Numerous places to eat and drink nearby. Service was fast and courteous. The Shepherds pie was quite good. reasonable portion made well. The brussels sprouts accompaniment was really good. Nice selection of beers and whiskeys It was a pleasant day and patio was open, lots of fresh air and sun.
After a long day setting up the booth it was nice to have a cocktail and a great bite to eat. Great outdoor eating area and live music on the green. Easy accepted our larger group of 11 persons right away at reserved table for us, when I upped number by one person.
We ended up eating here as we were going to a show at the Allstate. We had originally wanted to go to another restaurant in the park, however they had a 2+ hour wait. Opentable scored us a table at Five Rose within about 20 minutes.
Overall, I enjoyed the food. I had the chicken pot pie and it was delicious and I would get it again if I were in the area. My wife had prime rib that was on special that night, and it was about as average as prime rib gets, though prime rib is generally very similar whenever it's sold in that price range.
For a pub of it's size, I did think the beer selection was below par. If you like pale American lagers, Harp, Guiness, or the mass market beers from Goose Island, you'll do just fine.
We decided to check out the Rosemont entertainment District as it was half-way between us and where our friends live and just picked the Five Roses Irish Pub for its prices. The menu was limited but what I had - the macaroni and cheers - was good and one of my dinner companions said the scallops were very good. But his is mostly a bar scene and the restaurant was too noisy. We probably wont be back.
Scallops are the best I have ever had!!
Beers were served in undersized glasses, and were over-priced--which really inflated our bill which included a little above average bar food. Interestingly, I downloaded the menu to check out the prices and the only pricing missing was for the beer--which I estimated to be about $8 per.
Not impressed--better places nearby. Cool overall venue though.
Overpriced for the food we were served. Ex: $16 for a moderate sized salad with 4 shrimp. No bread...too much pre fab food.
My bigest complaint about this place is that the music was so ridiculously loud!! We were a party of 6 and after awhile we all just stopped talking because we couldn't hear each other. The service was less than adequete as was the food.
Had to ask the manager twice to lower the volume on the music. It was ridiculously loud for a restaurant. The food was OK.
