Let’s Preface this by I been a chef for 18 years and to go to a fish restaurant what are we usually expecting to be able to eat ….. wait for it , ….fish, so when you don’t have a lobster available and when you don’t have cherry stones available on your raw bar it kind of defeats the purpose of calling yourself a fish restaurant. when you pan sear crab cakes here’s a little helper point it’s a seer not a burn in terms of the crab cakes you don’t, leave them in the pan as long as you did, and leave a burnt crust on the outside bad job by you, very disappointing you might’ve made it on phantom gourmet, but boy you make it to the bottom of the list when it comes to me ever returning to your restaurant again . won’t be lasting very long With the sub par service and telling customers “we will be closing soon” either, can’t wait not see you again -good luck -william
The food was exceptional! Two of us had the swordfish special and it was outstanding!
Food not cooked to expectation (*med rare was well done)
The lobster bisque and swordfish specials were amazing. The service from Murilo was equally great.
The flood was bad and over priced , no vegetarian options, lobster rubbery, asked 4 times for bread finally got 3 rolls (for 4 people ) that were still frozen inside and were told that was the last of the bread but later saw a waiter bring rolls to another table ‘Haricot verts’ we’re large soggy green beans
Waitress was very nice, only saving grace
Great fun interior design. Menu good for fish restaurant . our server was very good. Portions are a little skimpy. Wine pours for the price not great. My husband really liked his tuna. My fish casserole was good but salt took over too much. Veggies prepared perfectly. Flourless choc cake very good.
Wonderful meal for our 23 rd Wedding anniversary. We had the best waitress Beatrice. She was spectacular 💕. We will be back.
menu was too limited. For a fish restaurant there could have been much more variety of offerings. Also salads were ordinary and limited. The prices were fair for the seafood dishes however. Ambiance left a lot to be desired. Was expecting more of an upscale feel however, it felt more like a chain restaurant in the inside.
Went for my birthday, and everything was perfect from the food to Jaime (our favorite server) to the noise level and the timing of the food coming to the table. Chocolate mousse cake is perfection for sure!
2 of us had the Halibut special, which was delicious. The other had the Tuna , which was very good, Fish never disappoints.
Fish Restaurant is always one of our top places to go for date night. The staff is always so friendly, the food & drinks are phenomenal and the overall experience is consistently five stars! Thank you guys again!!!
My son and daughter-in-law recommended Fish to my husband and I when we moved to the area 2.5 years ago and we absolutely love it! The food is delicious and the service is always great. We highly recommend it!
Visiting my parents and this was a nice treat. Very good menu options and the calamari, lobsters and fried clam meals were excellent. Service a little slow but we weren’t in a hurry and they were a bit understaffed. Our waiter was very nice and overall the meal met and exceeded expectations. Always love to go there!!!
The place looks tired. Booths and older chairs and tables with no decorations. No table cloths or placemats.
Nobody at the entry desk when we arrived so we waited to signal one of the wait staff to appear to seat us.
Food was good, but they were out of the swordfish special at 6:30 on a Saturday night.
We had a fabulous time at Fish last night! We ordered the raw oysters, calamari which had a nice crunch, and the steamers which were in a delicious garlic & butter sauce. Jessica suggested a couple of dishes (one was a rice-based seafood dish that was scrumptious!) and we were happy with her suggestions. Jessica and James waited on us and took very good care of us.
Service was excellent- food not so much.
Lobster roll was in a bulkie/sub roll and lobster was minced and didn’t task like lobster - tasted like it was frozen
I took one bite and couldn’t eat the rest
My companion had a seafood dish with scallops and a white fish and rice which was very excellent so I ate half of that.
Very good food with a reasonable selection, fast table and bar service, courteous, friendly, and polite wait staff.
Outstanding food, drinks and service. Impeccable.
We hadn’t dined at Fish for several years and decided to return because our last experiences were pleasant ones. Not so much this time around. As we approached the entrance, at first we thought that the restaurant wasn’t even open because the patio area was in disarray, dark, and dirty. Once inside the restaurant we noticed that the restaurant was unkept, with fingerprints all over the windows, and just tired looking. The rest rooms were disgusting to put it mildly, unkept and smelly. The food was just average tasting, but our server was cordial and attentive. After reading other reviews it seems that the restaurant has changed ownership since our last visit. My advise to the new ownership is to perform a thorough cleaning of your restaurant and maybe update the decor. In the meantime we will spend our dining dollars elsewhere.
Enjoyable evening with cocktails and food. Has to be a bit forgiving due to short staff due to Covid. Definitely a go to for fresh fish.
Tonight was great!! Food at Fish Restaurant has been amazing for the last few years, and today was no exception. The Calamari and mussels compete with the top tier dishes in the city (Atlantic fish, Legal Harborside). The service is always great even with the “COVID employment shortage”. Hopefully once the world gets back to normal this place will be busy busy as it deserves to be. The old fashioned Jess made was perfect!
Great food, fine service. I will be back!!
Excellent except no oysters at only 6Pm😩😩😩
We loved our classic New England seafood Father's Day dinner.
Would definitely return if in the area again.
Crab cakes were all filler and didn’t even taste like crab cakes. The fish in the fish and chips was like jelly and the crust not crispy. The waiter was nice, the raw clams good— but overall a disappointment when this used to be one of our go to places. Maybe just a poor cook on Fathers Day?
We eat here often and the food is always excellent, however that was not the case this time
The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. Amazing food and service. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Severely understaffed, resulting in verrrrry slow service and overcooked yet cold food. Our server was very apologetic but still...
Nice to be inside now! The service was excellent. Our server was very pleasant.
Food was as good as it always is...very good.
What is better than cocktail hour on a warm spring day with the doors (walls) open wide, or seated out on the shaded patio? We came again for the $1 oysters and as usual, were NOT disappointed. A delightful cocktail, fresh shucked oysters, and lobster poutine (so unique and absolutely delicious!) made our visit relaxing and decadent. The staff and servers and attentive and friendly. This has been our go-to place for the past several years. We love Fish!
Excellent quality with multiple choices prepared beautifully! The dining room is quite large so social distancing is not an issue-
It was great! Will be returning.
We went during happy hour great oysters they were $1. The drinks were very good my boyfriend got a beer I got a Purple Violet with vodka and elderberry, was delicious. The salmon entree with apple slaw was very good and was the crispiest, best salmon I have ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant. It’s good for business lunches as well I have usually been there for that but this night was a date night.
Let me start that as locals we want to very much like Fish Restaurant. And we know many restaurants are trying to get back on their feet during the pandemic. But it took an hour to get our food. While our waiter acknowledged the delay at time to pay the bill it seemed to be too late. Server should have at least comp'd us with a glass of wine. And the manager should have come to our table to apologize. This was an issue with Fish even before the pandemic - while food is really good, the service is very slow. We've been to a few restaurants over the past 2 months and so many owners and chefs have visited table to table to express their gratitude we've patronized their establishment during these times. Fish is missing that personal locally owned touch with focus on service. Sorry Fish, you have to do better!
Great experience, start to finish. We called ahead and were told that the heating system for the restaurant building was not working, but they would still take a reservation. We said "what the heck" and made the reservation anyway. When we arrived, we were seated near the gas fireplace in the bar area. A stroke of luck. Excellent start. Our server came right over, took our drinks order and handed us paper menus. So far, so good. We started with the mussels and they were piping hot, meaty and expertly prepared in a white wine broth. We're mussels fans and these were Top Ten ever. My date ordered the baked seafood dish and enjoyed it. The portion was a good size and just the right amount of lemon made the dish. Not perfection, but solid for sure. I ordered the seafood fra diabolo (spice is my thing). It arrived, again, served perfectly hot - in two ways. Shrimp, scallops, mussels and a small lobster claw on top of wide pasta in a broad bowl with a red spicy 🔥 sauce. Incredible. Kudos to the chef on that one, especially. We shared a nice bottle of South American red that was priced right. Our server (M, from Brazil, we learned) was friendly and attentive. He came over with espresso at the end of the meal - on the house as a thank you for making the reservation on a night when the restaurant heat was off but the kitchen heat was on & perfect.
Had probably hands down one of the worst experiences and meals at Fish Restaurant and wine bar. If you decide to visit this establishment (which I suggest you do not) read the menu carefully, seafood that is supposed to be included in your meal gets omitted and no mention of it is ever made by your server and when brought to the attention of management it is just ignored and the owner then attempts to bully you when brought to their attention through email communication. You will most likely be over charged for your drinks as well so review your bill thoroughly before settling up.
I have dined at fish about 7-8 times. Mostly pre-pandemic but have tried to support them this year as well. It is just unfortunately getting worse. Had a 6:30 reservation on Valentine’s Day. They were out of their lobster special, clams, scallops and the dessert special.......at 630.....on Valentine’s Day. If you know the menu this limits your “fish” options. Scallops AJ’s clams are in almost all the dishes right now. For the price I expected WAY better. For the occasion I expected WAY better. The waiters kept apologizing due to the high volume, but they already knew how many people were coming because they were not taking walk-ins. Again this was at 630, not 8 or 830. I felt quite bad for all of the reservations after us. Service is always very slow, food if you can get it is always wonderful. My advice eat when the doors open.
