We had a great meal at Fish. The only issue I have is we sat in the bar area because there is a fireplace and we wanted the ambiance. There is a spotlight over the fireplace that shines right into customers eyes and it should be adjusted.
Loved loved loved the stupendous jazz - "Never Say Never" delivered big time in the entertainment category! Their music was top notch, and they created a lovely comfortable ambiance, chatting with all of the patrons in the bar area - it was a very special evening for us. The food...well, not sure how a very upscale seafood restaurant can run out of clams (a signature dish) at 8PM on a Saturday night... What the heck??? Was not happy about that.
It was six months since our last visit. we were greeted by our server like family. The food was excellent including two meat dishes. My favorite Mediterranean Fish Soup takes me back immediately to one such dish in the south of France 25 years ago. I followed with a perfect glazed roast salmon. The Saturday night band were perfect - vocals and saxophone excellent and not intruding.
This is the 3rd time dining at Fish and have had delicious meals every time.
I can't check off the boxes, since I had two very different experiences in the same week. One on a Tuesday night, the other on a Saturday night. Tuesday everything was great, food and service were excellent. I made a reservation a week in advance for Saturday in a booth, and our party of 4 arrived on time. We were told that there was no table of any kind ready for us, and the host had no idea when one would be available. Most tables in the regular dining room had just been seated. We knew at least two other parties (a 6 and a 4) who were given the same treatment that night. One party left, the other was seated at 8pm with a 6:45 reservation.
We were sent to the bar, there was no place to sit, and no one offered to take a drink order. After 45 minutes, a small table in the bar opened up and we just took it as our dinner table. After that, service and food were great.
But we felt this was an unconscionable way to treat customers. The restaurant was obviously overbooking or just seating everyone who walked in and ignoring reservations.
We generally love Fish, and hope this was an unfortunate anomaly.
The food is always very good. Fresh and well prepared. Nice oyster bar and the shrimp cocktail is big and delicious. BUT check to see if they are having live entertainment as it is always too loud and lowers the dining pleasure considerably. You need to sit in the middle as too close to the kitchen or the bar area is too noisy. Go early on Saturday night for a nice meal but get out by 7pm to avoid the live music.
We consistently get excellent seafood dishes at Fish.
My family and me love coming to your restaurant. I ordered the “lazy lobster” Saturday night, and was disappointed at the amount of lobster that was served me. I have seen past lazy lobster orders that my family orders, and they were much larger portions. It appeared there was only one lobster portion on my plate. For $45, I feel I was overcharged. I did not receive the value commensurate with your price. I will not order the lazy lobster again. FYI. Michael Emery
Excellent food. Waitres was excellent offering suggestions. Ambiance was great especially listening to Jazz music. The fireplace was on which created a romantic atmosphere.
The Mediteranian Fish soup was good. 3 out of 4 of us got sick after eating Lobster. Don't get the seafood Trio. Its very expensive and small portion.
Outstanding service with awesome menu. Our waitress , Teresa, actually waited until my mouth was empty
before she came and asked if we needed anything and how was the meal so far. Her timing was impeccable.
On Saturday evening they feature a great jazz trio that was entertaining and non intrusive while we ate our dinner. Cold lobster tail app was delicious and seafood platter was tasty.
What a nice meal at Fish Restaurant. First time to this restaurant, and I and my friends were pleased with the meals - the kitchen was kind enough to substitute vegetables for the grits. The service was excellent (kitchen runners for food), but never intrusive.
We came for the seafood and were not disappointed. The seafood section of the menu is not lengthy, but everyone found something to their liking. The haddock, swordfish, and scallops were all nicely presented and prepared. Fort hose not interested in seafood, there are other options on the menu.
We travelled from NH to meet a friend, but the next time I pass thru Marlboro, I'll plan to dine here again.
Overall a fine restaurant. Paella with couscous was disappointing. Too heavy, short on flavor and seafood. Scallops were excellent as was the fried oyster appetizer. Service was a little rough and hurried, not quite up to usual standard.
Celebrated my birthday. Waitress was a little space shotty.... took a while for her to come back with special after dropping off the menu/dessert menu. Ordered the fruit cobbler. Was not good at all. Actually returned it. Other than that. We had a wonderful time.
Talk about a gem hidden in Malborough! The place is tucked into the corner of a plaza, and parking isn't too available, but once you get inside, any negatives will go away. There is dining room seating, with regular tables, and these neat looking semi-circular booths, and there's bar seating, with high tops and a fireplace. My friend and I sat next to the fireplace, which was pretty welcome due to the recent drop in temperature!
They have happy hour appetizers, of which we got bacon wrapped scallops and dollar oysters. Drinks were well made and strong. You can't go to a place called Fish and not order seafood, so my companion got the seafood paella, and I got the grilled tuna. Both were delicious, but the tuna could have used a hint more oomph.
It's pricing is definitely higher than normal, but the ambiance, quality of the food and drink, and the overall experience make it worth the price of admission.
We went to Fish since we wee at a nearby conference and the hotel recommended Fish. Called ahead and found out they have a happy hour with "buck-a-shuck" oysters until 6:30PM (later than most). The $1 oysters were any oysters off there large variety list, which is also unusual as most restaurants only have a designated oyster available. Had the sliders off the reduced happy hour menu to go with the raw bar discounts. Spent $28 on food and $54 on drinks. Would recommend Fish to anyone.
High recommendations were met and exceeded! Clam chowder was excellent and scallions were sublime.
The restaurant claims they are the premier seafood restaurant in MetroWest. After going for the first time, I now understand why! Some of the best served and tasting fish I've ever had. A MUST TRY and well worth the drive!
Great food, great service...and don't have to drive to Boston!!!
Excellent service by Taylor! 👏 We’ve never had Taylor serve us before, but she remembered us from our previous visits. Wow. We love your restaurant: food, staff and music. It’s just tough sometimes to have a conversation. because it’s so loud In the dining area. But it was Saturday night, and it’s a problem most restaurants have. We look forward to Taylor being our server the next time we stop by your lovely restaurant.
Have a wonderful week!
Business meeting with great food in the heart of Massachusetts!
Waited over 20 minutes for a waiter to come to the table. He said he didn't know it was his table. The margarita was delicious. The steak and lobster was decent but nothing special and def not worth $45. The oysters were fresh and delicious. Overall, decent place with good atmosphere. Just not worth $200 for dinner for 2. It's a great place to go on Sunday for $1 oysters.
Service & food- wonderful!
Always delicious food and great drinks! And the halibut is spectacular!
Appropriate for special occasions because of price point
Raw bar is fabulous. Everything on the menu is top notch. We go at least twice a month. Lilly the bartender is fabulous!
We usually love this restaurant but we took out of town guests and the halibut was a disaster. My husband should have sent it back! The waitress said she would tell the chef but it fell on deaf ears or wasn’t mentioned—not appreciated by us!
Three of four entrees were unexceptional and overpriced. Fourth was very good.
Very pricey for the location and the amount of food.
This has become a favorite place of ours. A lot of oysters to choose from, the menu is really diverse, and it has a great wine selection. Then at dining with the doors open is an excellent treat for a nice meal at the hi-top tables, but the dining room is charming. The wait staff has always been some of the best we have had - attentive and knowledgeable. You can't go wrong!
Good food! Cioppino is my favorite.
Overall Fish was quite good. It was a little bit noisy but otherwise comfortable. The Halibut was done perfectly as was my wife's scallops. The appetizer fried clams were a particular treat.
Absolutely perfect way to celebrate our anniversary with friends who were also celebrating theirs! We dined late enough that there was no noise and we received
full attention to service. We look forward
to dining here again; it's been our go-to place for meeting these friends who live further away.
Restaurant with amazing food, excellent service, and convenient parking. Highly recommended for a special occasion. Entrees range from $25-$45.
We’re in Marlborough once a year for the National Guild of Hypnotists’ convention, and we always have at least two meals at Fish. These folks know how to treat lobster - never had it over cooked or under cooked. Such consistency takes serious kitchen skills. Desserts are great, wine list is good, staff are excellent - we’ve been coming here every summer since before Fish was Fish, and we have always had a wonderful dining experience.
Everything was great! The food, atmosphere, service, great date night.
Our second time eating here. We have enjoyed our meals both times. Great selection of oysters and great menu options for a meal. And both times we have had excellent service.
Great restaurant experience tucked into an unassuming and highly accessible location. Outstanding food and great service. Pricey but worth the plunge for a special occasion or romantic interlude.
Very nice raw bar. Cherrystones where delicious. Tried a new type of oyster. Fish was fresh and well prepared. Mariah was sweet and efficient. We'll be back!
Food was really really terrific! Had oysters and Caesar salad to begin and the Surf & Turf as my entree. Other guests enjoyed the chowder and Salmon entrees. Steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and all accompaniments were delicious.
Elliot was very friendly and gave us the time we needed to talk and catch up, although a few service steps were missed (no cocktail fork for oysters and no steak knife for entree, until I'd asked). Asked for Ketel Citron and was told they had it. It wasn't until the drink arrived that I was told they only had Crop Citron; I would have altered my order had I been made aware of this in a timely fashion.
All in all, we had a wonderful experience and really enjoyed the food.
Never in Marlborough, but highly recommend Fish for a great meal.
