Just what we were looking for on our coastal getaway. It is a bit pricey but was worth it to us. Very personable waiter and so glad to see that they are supporting Maui Strong Foundation which we do also. They have another restaurant in Kona. We will return again when we have the chance. The dishes we had were perfectly prepared and presented and the wine selection was very good.

I’m very disappointed we wasted a meal in Monterey at this place when there are so many great restaurants in the area. Our table looked to be probably the worst table in the whole restaurant - we made reservations and it didn’t look full. The drinks were bad, the oysters were bad, the macadamia crusted halibut was okay. Nothing came out looking like the pictures. Our server was nice and did a good job.

Not impressed at all. Actual quite disappointed. The drink were ok, but the food left a lot to be desired. The mahi-major wasn’t bad, but for the price the portion was very small. The fish and chip were not good. Of the three pieces, two were overcooked, dry and “fishy” (kind of a sign the fish was not fresh) and only one was edible. The serving of chips was underwhelming. Monterey has a lot of seafood restaurants. I’m sure you can do better than this one.

The Fishhopper used to be our favorite Monterey restaurant, but it has gone downhill, what used to be the best chowder in Monterey now tastes of flour, prices have skyrocketed and they no longer serve bread with dinner, instead you have to buy 3 rolls even if you only want one. Service was attentive but they neglected to wish my wife a happy birthday even though they were told. We will not be returning

The food was absolutely delicious. The service was kind and friendly. The menu was better than I thought it would be. I had delicious swordfish and scallops on a bed of butternut squash filled ravioli topped with a mango chutney. The flavors worked nicely. Don’t let the logo make you think it’s a chain seafood restaurant. It’s not. It’s tasty. The views of the bay are amazing too.

Good food and view of the Bay. Our go to restaurant when in the Monterey area. The table behind us was a little close and we kept hitting the person behind us every time we needed to get up. Other wise we had a wonderful dinner.

We were celebrating a birthday and put that on the reservation. We arrived a little early and were seated right away at a perfect table out on the wing extending over the Bay. It was perfect and we had a spectacular view in out 3 sides onto the bay and the beach next to the restaurant. The service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The food was beyond expectations, especially the lobster tail that was part of my dish. It was some of the best tasting lobster I've had in years. I would hightly recommend Fish Hopper and will be back again when we go down to Monterey from Morgan Hill again.

This was our first time dining here and it exceeded our expectations. Our Hotel host recommended a list of spots and this one was her 2nd choice. So glad we picked this one! First of all this place gets packed for dinner. So be sure to make RESERVATIONS. We did and it was smart. Got to restaurant checked in and waited 5 min to be sat. Got a table along the window with spectacular ocean views. Even though the entire place is 360 degree views. I got Mahi mahi and my hubby got fish in chips. The mahi mahi was incredible fresh and brought in from Hawaii. I know because I asked our server. The fish n chips were amazing as well. Fresh, flaky Cod. Not only is their food amazing. The drinks coming out of the bar are too. This spot is a bit on the loud side because it's a family restaurant and does get packed in. But that did not bother us one bit. Especially when you are paying for spectacular ocean front views, amazing dishes and delicious drinks. We will for sure be back again. Thank you!

We had a lovely lunch at the Fish Hopper. The view of the water, with Otters playing and pelicans flying by, was magical. The fish dishes were fresh, delicious and perfectly prepared, and we had the most attentive and friendliest server, Manuel, taking care of us. I‘d give the service six stars if I could. Is it pricey? Sure - but it‘s worth every penny. Come see for yourselves.

We had out of town guest, 2 Adults and a 2 year old with my neighbor and I for lunch at the Fish Hopper yesterday. They had our reservations and took us to a perfect table big enough for 6… We received excellent service from beginning to end! The ordering waiter let us pick our fish for the fish & Chips. Someone snuck in a high chair as an option, and the drinks arrived right away. The Entree delivery was flawless as was the desserts and coffee… The food was loved by my guests and I! The whole experience was the best of their visit! Thank you

Our waiter seemed to lose interest in us as soon as we asked for the locals menu. From then on we saw little of him except to bring the bottle of wine and to present the check. He was pretty busy with several tables but should that make poor attentiveness acceptable? We asked for a pier table be reserved so we could watch the moon rise as is our custom and it was a lovely evening if tinged by what felt like a little smirky attitude around our table. I was surprised it wasn’t busier and glad we had chosen to patronize your lovely restaurant again.

Service and food was mediocre. Not even close to the last visit. We ordered the bread, that you charge $3.00 for, it never arrived. I guess the server didn’t think we needed it??? Bread should be included and delivered when guests arrive. That’s the lowest bar in the industry, and that doesn’t happen at your place. Hope you can improve service since the market is going to get competitive with the changing economic cycle in play. Thank you.

We showed up just before the restaurant closed for the night. Although the wait staff was nice enough to accommodate us before the kitchen closed, I spotted a large rat roaming around under the tables in the section next to us which had just been closed off for the night. I couldn’t finish my dinner after this so we abruptly left. (I have a video evidence of the rat in the restaurant). Will never dine at this establishment again.

We were genuinely welcomed by a tall, sweet man at the outside bar serving samples to the public, which set the tone for the rest of the meal, as he was very inviting and I greatly appreciate that. We had a reservation and were seated promptly in the most empty & quiet section against the window. Beautiful view of the water, where you can see all the way down to the back side of the aquarium. Rodrigo was very welcoming and patient with us as we browsed the large drink selection and ordered multiple seafood items. Chowder was rich and creamy, coconut shrimp were crunchy and delicious, crab stuffed mushrooms were hearty and full of protein, I was surprised because any recipe I've ever seen is mostly breading, these were all crab meat. My entree was the spicy shrimp pasta, exactly what I wanted, hot and steamy all the way through, perfect for bread dipping, al dente pasta in a red/marinara sauce mixed with a little cream so it's almost orange, thin sliced mushrooms, large shrimp that were juicy and not overcooked. We couldn't fit dessert but the Coconut Coladas and Espresso Martinis we started the meal with were the perfect start to a nice warm seafood dinner!

The service was okay at best. The waiter seemed annoyed and rushed. The food was ok..my wife enjoyed her halibut dinner and my dinner, swordfish and scallops were mediocre. The swordfish flavor was overpowered by the sauce which was used and the scallops were over cooked. Prices were too high for the quality of food served.

I am a local. Fish Hopper is one of my favorite local restaurants. One caution: On a crowded night, sitting in the beautiful glassed wing with spectacular views, expect considerable sound bouncing off of the glass. For me, the view is worth putting up with the noise. If conversation is important, you might consider sitting in a quieter area that still has terrific ocean facing windows. Staff is incredibly nice, even when crowded. Food is great, wine is terrific, and the view cannot be beaten. Entertainment by sea otters and sea lions comes free. Love the place.

Delicious dinner with excellent service and a wonderful view. My halibut was perfectly prepared with an elegant presentation. So, too, was the sea bass for my wife. We truly enjoyed the entire experience.

Had fish and chips and the the fries were cold so I had the waiter bring hot fries! I believe the waiters name was Santy and he was awesome! My husband's Old Fashion cocktail was so watered down, he sent that back. The fish was nice and crispy but very bland. I only got 2 med size pieces so I didn't think it was worth the price. I did like the coleslaw but also a small portion. They only have 2 selections of chardonnay by the glass and neither are a good varietal.

The customer service and ambiance are the only bright sides to this restaurant. I wouldn't mind paying the price for food or drinks if they had any flavor. Bland fish and Calamari. Weak watered down drinks will make sure I never return!

I highly recommend the Fish Hopper. High.quality, great tasting food but ensure to bring your wallet. $$$$. You will see MP for market price on the menu in SEVERAL places. This was a treat for my daughter and I to go. We split appetizers and a main course. We were greeted warmly by the host and sat down immediately. On my reservation, I asked for a table by the window and I actually got it. My goal was dinner looking at the ocean! The restaurant is on the water and has a lot of room to sit small and large parties. The restaurant is alive, fun, and loud! Reese was our server and he introduced us to Juan who helps them with the tables. The service level is a throw back in elevated restaurant experiences when I was growing up. I loved it. The service was 5 star! The watermelon mojito is great. You have to try it! The sourdough bread is delicious but doesn’t come with the meal. The crab stuffed mushrooms were amazing. The crab was fresh. The calamari was a meal all by itself. The shrimp tasted so go and fresh it was amazing. The best part- remember when you were growing up and they would bring the dessert to you table! The Fish Hopper still does it ! I love that touch. Please note- You will have to park in a parking and walk( less than a minute). AFTER 5pm- it is $5. For the day $20. Because it is on Cannery Row. High tourist traffic. Reservations highly recommended. You can take a date but you will have to get a table away from the middle of the restaurant. I would recommend dressing business casual.

Lovely view. The fried calamary was a bit leathery. The mahi-mahi was somewhat dry (maybe overcooked?). But the ultimate pasta was excellent and I really enjoyed the watermelon mojito. We were sorry to see that the sardines were no longer on their menu. And they now charge for the bread ($1 per bun).
