Great food and service!
Amazing service and atmosphere!
If you’re in Monterey looking for a relaxing dinner or even lunch. Fish Hopper is a must!
The seafood platter was over priced and disappointing. The crab portion was minimal, lobster was fine. The salmon was over cooked and mushy. The abalone tasted old and disappointing. I didn’t even eat it and portions was small. The appetizers were good. Appetizers were artichoke and calamari.
Poor service hurt our experience was better in the past
It helps to have a reservation. We actually decided to go into the restaurant early but because of the reservation they adjusted our table and put us to the front of the line.
Fish Hopper has one of the best seafood menus. We like taking a drive from the South Bay and having a nice lunch or dinner at the Fish Hopper.
Really nice place to talk hand have seafood
The food was not very good. Ordered a filet medium, it was super rare. Fried shrimp over cooked. Caesar salad was heavily dressed. My husband’s beer had something floating in it. We were seated outside but against a wooden railing which hindered our view. The menu also has very few items available.
Delicious food the fried calamari is delicious and pasta and salad is great
Out food came out cold and the waiter was terrible
Dinner was outstanding. Great atmosphere, great waiter, and amazing food! I got the surf and turf and was absolutely blown away. Highly recommend!
Steak wasn’t bad, but I expected better food quality from the reviews. I typically only write reviews when it’s super positive but I just wasn’t wowed. The ambiance was ok - we were by the waves on the pier area which was nice, but way to noisy. A drunk patron complained when the lights were turned down, which we were hoping to have given it was the last night of our honeymoon. The manager did move us to a quieter area which I very much appreciated. I think if we had been expecting a slightly lower end restaurant I would have nuot
The food was outstanding best meal I’ve had in a very long time
Our experience started off great with hostess Mel sending us to the perfect table! Our server, Alejandro, was friendly and helpful. We ordered cocktails and cups of clam chowder that pleased us. My husband ordered the seafood pasta which he enjoyed. It was piping hot. My food on the other hand wasn’t even warm. My salmon was cooked perfectly and good. The veggies and rice, a crime that they called it risotto were cold.
21 st wedding anniversary
Great staff….great food!!!
Would definitely eat here again!
Great DAPS and PRAWNS… VEGGIES definitely crunchy and healthy… GREAT/attentive service…
49.95 steak was a disgrace. Tough and flavorless...waste of money.
Will not return.
Wait staff was extremely helpful in moving our party to another table when we asked. They were also helpful in choosing our entrees. View was amazing and the food was expertly prepared.
Restaurant food and service was Immaculate as always
Seating near the ocean was great. Somewhat loud in the restaurant. Ambience wasn’t quite what I expected. Service was great people were very nice. Ended up getting the sardines and deciding not to have dinner afterwards. Food was OK. Probably wouldn’t go back.
Server was not polite or kind. He seemed in a bad mood and we had to request things that a server normally would have asked while taking an order.
We came here to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was friendly and able to accommodate a last minute time change and welcomed us with a nice anniversary card. We got beautiful seating with a beautiful seat. The food was so good! we got the crusted halibut, ribeye, king crab legs, and lobster. Everything was so fresh and delicious.. we also ordered calamari- it was good but not the best.
Atmosphere and view were amazing. Service was great! Food was super fresh and cooked to perfection. Great coconut shrimp and large portions. Loved this place and will return.
Good food, great service, wonderful ambience on the patio. The clam chowder was some of the best I have ever had.
Nice window seat. Waiter started out a) pointing out all of the most expensive items on the menu, and b) rushing us to order (so he could turn over the table; at least that's how it seemed). We did order two of the expensive entree's, but we had a drink first (should have started at the bar, I guess) and a bottle of wine. Waiter was more friendly as time passed. It was not really a "dining" experience though even though the prices said it was. Still, I think we would go back since the food was quite good - which is really the point, isn't it?
Even though we made last minute reservations, we were greeted warmly and seated immediately at a window table (midday on a Monday.) We had the fish & chips and the chowder. Both were fine, but nothing to necessarily rave about. The view of the Monterey Bay was mesmerizing and it was well worth dining there just for the view. Service was appropriately attentive.
Unfortunately, my request was not honored for my reservation. Insult to injury there was this young lady that was at the check in counter and she tried to defend that my seating request was not honored with saying that my party could wait an hour. What is the point of a reservation? In addition, when I asked to speak with a manager she told me that she is a supervisor. I then asked “I would like to see a manager”. She then told me she is the supervisor of the registration area and that she is who I needed to speak with, I guess now she holds multiple steps in the chain of command? Can you say audacity. I then reminded her the term supervisor doesn’t equate to manager. I would like to speak with a manager that has responsibility beyond a check in desk. In short, the manager did the right thing and offered an alternative that was acceptable. The overall experience went well from there and we had a great server.
The young lady at the front, the Supervisor, needs to understand there was a missed opportunity. Rather than issuing a feeble attempt to demonstrate authoritative power, she had an opportunity to maintain the integrity of a great customer experience by providing service recovery. Always remember you may be a supervisor but you are not my supervisor. The customer may not always be right but the customer is the customer. COVID 19 should have taught you that…no customers, no need for a supervisor.
Kudos to the Manager…I wish I knew her name.
Our server, Tanya, was excellent. However, the kitchen crew brought our salads and entrees AT THE SAME TIME. No excuse for a restaurant of this caliber to do this. We sent the salads back, and ate our entrees. We have dined here many times. Hopefully this was a one time mistake.
Great place! Loved the food and the ocean view. Everybody very friendly and attentive.
Excellent they even accommodated our daughters gluten-free diet needs with no fuss - excellent table with
Panoramic view of the ocean and shoreline absolutely delicious and beautiful highly recommended !!
We’ve dined here many times and it’s a favorite of ours We understand that the pandemic has been extremely difficult for the restaurant business but charging for dinner rolls is a bad move and to make it worse they weren’t even served until after our dinner was brought to us. It won’t stop us from coming back but we do feel insulted. Food was excellent but Alejandro was not very attentive. Overall though we still recommend dining here.
Pleasant staff. Food was good.
Return to this restaurant with previous good experience from ou4 last trip to Monterey. The food was good. Service could have been more attentive. Had empty drink glasses on our table and the waiter never came back by to see if we wanted more drinks. Fortunately, we had requested water also when we arrived so had that for the remainder of our meal. Overpriced for quality and service as a tourist trap but not too many nice restaurant options in Monterey anymore which the town itself has decreased in quality now with only tourist crap everywhere.
To top it off, I also got the nasty gram email from Open Table saying Fish Hopper said I didn't show up for my reservation and had to respond that we were there and spent over $200 on our dinner so for that reason I'm not recommending them to others.
Prices were steep for the quality of the food.
The food was delicious and seating overlooked the water.
Service was the worse. Very few guests in the restaurant so it wasn’t like our server was overwhelmed. I would suggest you skip the “famous clam chowder”. I don’t think it was chowder. Almost like opening a can of clam chowder and heating up on the stove.
Too many items listed as MP. Market price with nothing posted so the prices seem discretionary.
They have enough signage talking about if you have kids to remove them if they become fussy. It's so blatant almost unwelcome. Food is mediocre. Tourist trap for sure. Go 2 buildings over to Bubba gumps and thank me later.
