We made a reservation to celebrate a birthday, and they had that info at the host station. They didn’t have our table and we had to wait 20 minutes - which is somewhat understandable on a weekend. However, when they came to seat us, they tried to put us at the bar - which I overheard them explaining was for walkins. Some haggling occurred and they sat us at a real table. The drinks were ok, appetizers were good. Dinner was ok. Chocolate cheesecake was amazing! Service was pretty good. The only issue was that they didn’t hang around long enough after leaving the entrees to see if we needed anything - like salt or extra sauce so that took a while.
Overall Food was average. Coconut shrimp were delicious as were the drinks. I prefer Calamari cut thin and fried crispy, theirs is thick cut and chewy - matter of preference perhaps. View is great.
The view is outstanding. The food was perfection and every waiter was happy and helpful. A very positive experience which hasn’t been the case at other restaurants in Kona.
We always enjoy our breakfasts at Fish Hopper. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding.
Great food, great location, beautiful views. We are going back.
Calamari had too much batter and didn’t taste good. Had mahi mahi dinner. The sauce was great and it came with a lot of veggies. Got a salad that was over dressed but was ok
Amazing food and drinks.
Always excellent.
As an airline pilot who spends 18 days / month away from home, the Fish Hopper is my go to place for breakfast in Kailua Kona. Good food, solid service, great “French Press” Kona Coffee; it starts my go home day right.
Family vacation
For the price I wasn't impressed with the food. Luke warm scallops, mussels and clams bland. Service was good though
The waitress was excellent. The food was excellent. 2 dinner entrees and a split dessert totaled $80- a little pricey. But overall the experience was great. We had an ahi and coconut prawn salad and a skirt steak and split a creme brûlée. We would recommend all of them.
We enjoyed our dinner and the service was nice. We were challenged to find the parking lot but once that was resolved we had a very nice dinner. The manager was welcoming and helpful even though we were late for our reservation.
Food was fantastic. Although we made a reservation, walk-ins were given better seating closer to lookout on ocean. We sat in middle and it was stuffy ...
This visit was on Easter Sunday. Their special menu included opakapaka on a bed of ravioli that was outstanding, one of their best dishes since we became regulars of six years.
Excellent service, excellent food, beautiful view. Can’t beat the Fish Hopper!
Was hoping for a fantastic seafood dinner and did not get it. Food was average and way overpriced. Very chain like and I guess they are. My daughters fish and chips bland, and my wife’s fish was just ok. Pretty bummed for the cost
Great food and service.
We went for Easter they didn’t not honor coupons but we did not care. The service was great food. Ahi salad unique and amazing
Had Easter lunch here and it was great! Staff was friendly and food was delicious!
We waited over an hour to be seated even though we had reservations.
We so love coming to the Fishhopper in Kona, and Monterey.
Wonderful, food, service is very personable.
You will not be disappointed. I suggest getting reservations, popular dinning spot.

Our server, Tammie, was awesome.
Fantastic waitstaff. Great good. Wonderful family experience and value.
Ahmazing food!! The local Mongchog dish is to die for. Def try it!
Calamari and crab cake appetizers were very good! Had to return ribeye since it was done too well and our wonderful server Tammie brought a much better one. Sat by window overlooking the ocean, great view but too close to noisy entrance. Overall the food was good and the experience eating at the restaurant was great!
Great food and location. Would recommend and come again. Great freshcatch
A touristy place that we had been told would have good fish. Not particularly impressed. Our server did an admirable job despite being slammed. Ambience is that of a tiki bar and the decor needs a refresh. The cocktails were good, the calamari appetizer was either way over fried or had been sitting under a heart lamp for too long - it was chewy and not very flavorful. The same thing with the coconut shrimp. The mussels and clams were decent - particularly the broth.
Wonderful View, helpful staff, great food and killer Bloody Mary's
We all enjoyed our Sunday breakfast dishes and Margaret is a terrific server. Make a reservation or be ready for a long wait on weekends
Very nice staff. Food is always great. Great views of the bay.
Ask for Andrea, if you come for breakfast definitely have the corn beef hash it is real corn beef amazing hash all in a skillet with eggs and toast. We had it two days in a row. The view is incredible totally recommend
TOURIST TRAP!! Don’t waste your time and money
Please don’t go here if you care anything about food. The disaster started from the appetizer. How can you get shrimps wrong?!? Calamari had no type of spice. Food was tasteless. Please don’t waste your money
Delicious fresh local fish
Fish Hoppers never lets me down. The food is consistently delicious, the staff has always been friendly, and having the ocean right outside the windows is amazing
Great food, nice view, good service and
they have their own parking lot too
The King Crab leg was the largest and most tender market seafood my husband or I had ever ordered! It was reasonably priced as well. The seafood trio was a great selection of choices and did not disappoint. The raspberry lava drink was billed as the house specialty, but we both preferred the Mai Tai, with the raspberry being a bit overpowering.
We definitely enjoyed our meal and would return!
We had a great dinner on the railing looking out over the bay. The food was amazing.
Casual dining, good food, great view!
The food was delicious, but lukewarm. The service was not good. The view was beautiful.
