Went for restaurant week during the work day. The service was fast and friendly and the food was good and a great value
Once again, Kevin gave us our best experience to date. I can not say enough about Firelake Grill.
Service and server were great and the food lovely. Really, a creative contemporary take on Minnesota meals. Delicious drinks and the noise level was truly fine - hard to find this component. We like this location on a snowy winter evening as you're at street level in downtown Mpls. Good , well-lit lighting in underground ramp, an important item for women arriving alone.
Had the brisket this time and was very happy with it! FireLake continues to be an expert place for a date night.
Enjoyed drinks and dinner here before the theater. Food was tasty, if you get the wings as an appetizer be prepared to get messy. Would visit again and try another item on the menu.
Went to dinner at FireLake before Hamilton. The food was good. Their signature old fashion was good. Our waitress was very attentive. Oh, and the cheese curds were tasty!
Ate here prior ro Sebastian Maniscalco at the State Theater. Kevin was a fantastic server. Food was delicious. Recommended the cherry wood pork chop.
I don’t know why this place isn’t more busy before shows and such, but it’s our bonus that it’s not! The food is great and reasonably priced, the decor is classy and calm, and it’s close to so many things. We had a 5:15 reservation (we could easily have walked in though) before a 7 o’clock Hamilton show, we got drinks and dinner and were paid and out in plenty of time to get to the Orpheum. Other places were booked or packed, but we were comfortable in our cozy place at the FireLake!
We went for Sunday breakfast before the Vikings game. Nice, quiet atmosphere and comfortable seating. The food was AMAZING! $3 Mimosas were also a sweet deal!!
Kevin made our night so great. I loved how easy he made our night and really gave us positive feedback on what we were looking for in our night.
Great waitress. Sublime dessert
Great before the Orpheum Theatre. Quiet enough to have a conversation. Appetizers, dinner and drinks were all wonderful. Restaurant has a small quaint feel to it yet there are options for large group seating. Our wait staff was top notch!
I can’t remember the waiters the night (9/22/18 7:30pm reservations) we we’re there, but he was EXCELLENT!! I wish I remembered his name.
It’s a decent restaurant inside the Radisson Blu. Central location that would be convenient for business meals. Food was average. Our server Carlos was fabulous.
Portion sizes small for the price. Wait staff was fine but not not overly warm. Good choice before going to an evening performance.
Pleasant servers who had tried most or all of the dishes and could make great recommendations. Quick seating and we were also grateful for a moderate to quiet noise level so we could enjoy a good after-theatre conversation. Food was just delicious, and very creative. They seemed genuinely happy to welcome us, and make sure our groups of four had a lovely experience. I will definitely go again!
Enjoyable dinner with family, including small children. Kids menu available, plus coloring activities helped occupy time while waiting for food. Wonderful drinks! We have eaten here many times and usually have experienced excellent food and service. This time it was slightly less than excellent, but still very good in food quality, price and service. Definitely will come here again.
Ate dinner prior to a show at the Orpheum. Our overall experience was mixed mostly due to the service. We arrived with reservations in-hand and they tried seating us at a table that was virtually in the entryway. We asked for another table and were brought to a better area that had plenty of seating. The service did not get better. Our waiter had limited knowledge about the menu, both food and drink. He visited the table to bring drinks and food. I did not get a refill on my water. The food quality was good. It is what you would expect for a mid $20 meal. The pork loin was nicely prepared and was adequately portioned. My wife’s salad with chicken was also nicely done. However, if you only get down town a few times a year and want that grand experience, this is not the place. You should expect engaged service and a wow feeling. We got convenience and a shrug of the shoulder from our waiter. As for the show, Hamilton lived up to the hype.
We had a very nice meal prior to attending a play downtown. The service was excellent. We had the salmon and the walleye. Both were excellent along with a nice Pinot Noir from Oregon. Would definitely return.
My husband and I stumbled upon Firelake Grill House before we caught Hamilton at the Orpheum. We weren't sure what to expect, but what we received was a nice quiet spot in the bar area (was not very busy), attentive service, fast and delicious food (along with tremendous food options!), great happy hour drink specials, and a fantastic experience. I feel like this place is under-rated as a great spot for date night or pre-theater. Much better than other option we've experienced.
We came to celebrate our anniversary before seeing Hamilton at the Orpheum. The waitress was wonderful and rushed our order when she found out we were going to the show. I had the Beet salad and my husband had the Venison tip appetizer. Both were delicious! I also had the dueling sangrias in honor of Hamilton, which were fun and delicious!
Needs to have its own bathrooms - locked bathrooms where you need to get assistance from hotel staff is not acceptable in a restaurant such as this.
The main dishes, should be better planned to have them available and not run out 3 hours before close.
Great Minnesota food experience.
Food was delish! the rhubarb eclair was way too sweet.
I had the walleye. It was fabulous! My husband had the steak. We both loved the meal. Waiter was new, very nice, but not outgoing. Portions could have been a little larger. Each plate had only about 5 potato slices on it. Probably perfectly proportioned, but I was still wanting more and I’m not a big eater.
My wife's walleye was outstanding as were the accompanying vegetables and potatoes. Unfortunately, my first slice of the brisket was as tough a piece of meat I ever had. I flagged down our waitress who whisked away the offending piece and returned with a plate of the absolute best tasting, most tender brisket I have had in ages. I wasn't wild about the baked beans but the corn pudding dessert was insanely good. But most of all, kudos to that waitress, she saved our impression of the FireLake as a place we certainly will return to and reccomend.
The crispy chicken sandwich was absolutely delicious and I would go back and get it again. However, we were disappointed in our overall service. Our waiter was a little too subdued and disappeared for huge amounts of time which is frustrating when you want to order dessert or get the tab cleared. We also tried two desserts and were happy we tried them but neither of us would order dessert again. They were simply not memorable. Overall, our lunch sandwich was fantastic. Skip dessert and be prepared for a possible wait at lunch, even when the restaurant is 25% full.
Excellent service with wide selection of entrees. Great Minnesota specials.
Great dinner for our group of 3 adults and 3 kids. We were seated in the board room with plenty of space and curtains so it felt like our own restaurant. Food was decent, but the service was excellent! Cocktails were disappointing. Pork chop was a bit bland. Edamame toasts were great. Popovers with honey butter were a hit. Kids meals were average. Wild rice soup was pretty good, but not as good as Mercy.
The chefs did an amazing job with dinner! They were so quiet and very minimal at communicating. Or if they did, they communicated so well it didn’t disturb our table which was Right next to the kitchen. Our server was just adorable!! The booze cicle cocktail was very creative!! The decor was beautiful it was all around wonderful and I will definitely be back! Great first experience!!!
Our server, Wendy was attentive and delightful. The food choices were abundant and tasty!
great food but waitress corrected my pronunciation of arugula when ordering and later made a remark about our empty dessert plate "want time to lick the plate clean? no judgment"
We had an awesome experience! The food was perfectly prepared— try the prime rib! One of THE best we have had. Our waitress “Wendy” was very attentive & extremely knowledgeable about all the food & beverages, with immaculate descriptions.
Great service and food was amazing! My chicken was perfect and boyfriend said prime rib was spot on!
Service was excellent. Walleye outstanding.
We enjoyed our meal. Nice restaurant.
We had an early reservation before a concert. They got us right in, served us quickly and the food was good. Plus, it was an easy walk to Target Field for the show. Would definitely recommend them for a pre-show dinner. Reservations are a must, since they were turning people away who did not have one and the bar area (first-come, first-serve) was packed.
Great food, wonderful service (thanks Wendy for taking such good care of us!)
