The food was tremendous and the service was great! My teenage kids thought the fried chicken dinner was the best food they enjoyed all week. The gumbo was spectacular as well. A must stop in Key West!!
Had a strange experience that I think boiled down the hostess making the experience awkward. We ordered a drink and left. We are respectful of local mask mandates but found it strange that the hostess told us we must wear our mask outside, at our table when a staff member ie her and any servers approached. She shared that she had her first vaccine shot. We didn’t really care, as my guess is a doctor and has been fully vaccinated for months. We came to enjoy a great dinner on a beautiful night. Every other restaurant in Florida and other states we travel has not made that request, especially while seated outside. It was not going to be an enjoyable experience to play pull our mask up and down in anticipation of our sever. Hence we left. If this is company policy fine. But if your hostess is pushing this narrative, it’s a terrible way to start an evening and should be addressed.
Solid place with great Covid protocols. Food was good. We had the Chicken, Mac n cheese, and shrimp and grits. I would order multiple appetizers as they were really small. Would dine again.
Amazing consideration put into every prepared dish! Loved it!
A must every year we come down
Great meal with friends on the upper porch! Lovely!
Excellent food and service!
Good solid experience but nothing special. Enjoyable Southern food, at least from the perspective of someone from New Jersey.
We come to Key West every year and always eat at FireFly. Not sure that we will go back though. The food was good and our table service was good but the hostess had a horrible attitude and we almost left.
Food was good. We sat outside- the empty lot across the street is a bit detrimental to the ambiance but overall a pleasant experience.
I was underwhelmed. We went to Firefly after a recommendation from friends. We ordered different items, but for one. Everything I ordered came lukewarm...cornbread came in a skillet and still cold! The roasted cauliflower wedge was hard and lukewarm. The duck wings (3) were drenched in the signature BBQ sauce so difficult to eat. The deviled eggs were fine, but how hard are they to make. My fault that I didn't say something earlier, but when I did no attempt was made to compensate. Just my opinion but not worth it, even as a "Chef driven" restaurant. That statement is on the menu, the website, and anywhere else you look. All it means is don't ask me to change ANYTHING
Not worth the annoyance of wearing a mask at the table.
Excellent restaurant. Great food and service.
I appreciate the mask mandate but having to place your mask on your face everytime a server comes over and the staff handing you your meal from 3 feet away from your table is a little overkill. It definitely took away from the enjoyment of our meal. It is the only restaurant in Key West that we saw was so very strict.
Best biscuit ever, fried chicken was tasty and Mac and cheese was very good, The food was very tasty and I would totally go back to this restaurant.
We visit Firefly every time we come to KW. The food is consistently delicious and the service is always outstanding. I love the small plates...great for sharing.
Just an awesome place!
Wonderful Southern cuisine!
Service was great Definitely on the list for future meals
We booked at Firefly during a week in Key West with friends. We LOVED Firefly. The bacon crab beignets were amazing and my gumbo was the best. Our dinner companions loved their meals as well. Firefly is an intimate, friendly, neighborhood restaurant clearly patronized by the local people in Key West.
Great food and amazing service. I got the bison short rib which was phenomenal and husband got the fried chicken, which he said was great. Will return on our next Key West trip!
Cold, odd service. Constant reminders about masks, even to wear whenever the waitstaff came over. As a consequence, we barely spoke with or interacted with the waitress except to order. No one else seemed to be talking either. Not enjoyable. Upstairs balcony was pretty & good was good but would not go back.
Found this gem while vacationing in key west - off the beaten path. Food was delicious and that biscuit the size of a tea plate YUM! Service was great - location quaint...parking was an effort - may need to give some instructions on best way to get there or park
We had the Gumbo & the Fried Chicken, both were amazing. We also tried the cornbread as an appetizer, it had good flavor but was a bit dry for my taste. The service could have been better, our server had a lot of tables to cover. All in all it was an enjoyable meal, although an expensive one.
We visit Firefly every visit to Key West. The food is outstanding and the staff is very kind.
It was okay
We went to Firefly on the recommendation of our lunch server down the street! She said it was one of her favorites for her days off! The setting is quiet/off of duval and after you've had your fill of seafood, this southern style goodness does NOT disappoint. We ate the southern fried chicken dinner which was outstanding. Plenty of small plates to choose from also that you can make a meal out of. We highly recommend it! The wine pairing on the menu was spot on as well. Ask to be seated upstairs outside if it's available.
Loved how nice and how hard the service staff worked. We sat outside on the balcony which was incredible. Unfortunately my food was very over salted. I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Not sure if someone messed up the salt measurements but it just wasn’t good. We’ve been here before and the food was amazing so this was a fluke. I cannot over emphasize how great the staff is. Will be back
Wonderful brunch experience. Definitely need reservations. Terribly friendly staff. Menu has just enough selections without overwhelming you. Sake Bloody Mary is a must. Warning portions are huge. Biscuits are very large and side dishes may be too much. I had the bacon egg and cheese biscuit with side of cheesy potatoes. They were amazing. Wife did shrimp and grits and loved them. Sausage biscuit and gravy order definitely big enough for two. Enjoy.
We had a really good time at firefly. The food and ambiance was fantastic. We loved sitting on the second floor balcony and seeing wonderful views of the street below. However, we unfortunately got used silverware (food from the previous diner was caked on the fork in a very visible way) and my card got charged with the wrong party’s bill after giving my card to the waiter. While both problems were corrected, the used silverware in particular was unacceptable during COVID-19 and unfortunately left a bad taste after our otherwise wonderful dinner.
Overall everything was good. Service was excellent. However, it is very high priced for basic comfort food. Even for Key West prices.
Wonderful Southern cuisine! Fried green tomatoes and fried chicken with collard greens were spot on. One of the best restaurants we visited in Key West.
This was our first time and the menu was very different for key west! It was fun to try different things like duck wings and bison short rib. All was delicious and the upstairs balcony is beautiful
Best biscuits and best fried chicken ever.
Such a cute spot and delicious food!
Great food options and quality. Love this place
We had a wonderful time at Firefly. Some blocks away from the hustle and bustle of Duval St, Firefly serves carefully curated southern cooking that is worth the short walk. Their second floor patio is a great place to watch the sunset as you enjoy some of their showstopper dishes with cuisine that differs from the rest of the key and ranks a step above.
We've been there many times but this time the service was awful. We even called to report it to the manager afterwards and received no return call. So, they must not care. Not sure we will waste our time there again.
The lack of a full service bar means we won’t be back. Canned cocktails are an unfortunate if economical choice. Food was good and servers helpful. Not overwhelmed by the atmosphere.
