The good: scallops. The bad: everything else. Portions were small, prices high, the menu was limited and server was inflexible when asked about substitutions. The Smokey salmon tasted like it was rescued from a fire pit. The prosciutto wrapped monkfish was so salty it swamped any flavor the monkfish might have added. This place thinks pretty highly of itself but was an overall disappointment.
This is our annual brunch spot for Mother’s Day. It hasn’t let us down so far. The service is phenomenal and the food is amazing. I would recommend the 3 or even the 5 course meal.
Excellent service and good food! The waitstaff was attentive, patient and helpful with our large group of 10 on a busy day
Run don’t walk to this terrific restaurant! Had the mussels, she crab soup, salmon and strawberry shortcake. All was fabulous! And service was wonderful
This not our first Rodeo, with this Restaurant. When we want to Celebrate any occasion, this is our spot. Have been coming to The Fin for years, can't really tell you if we had a bad experience. Thanks for a good time. Would recommend, to all.
This is amazing restaurant an our waiter Tommy was the best!!
Fine dining, great atmosphere, great food, great service.
Amazing! Love this restaurant.
The food was exceptional, well prepared. I had lamb, which was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend Fin for an upscale dining experience.
Best restaurant in Hampton Roads, period, dot; end of conversation.
Had a quiet enjoyable respite prior to going to Ferguson Center to see Leonard Bernstein’s hundred year honoring. ambience was quiet and the food superb. All in all it couldn’t have been nicer.
Enjoyed the meal very much. The only problem was the table selection. It was our anniversary (which they knew) and they still sat us in the back next to the open kitchen. I would have preferred a booth in the front by the window.
Excellent meal. Our group had firecracker shrimp, scallops, sea bass, and crabcake.
Fin offers upscale, beautifully plated, creative dishes at a reasonable price--even at lunch. The Chef, Kenny Sloane, could easily compete on Iron Chef! I recently had scallops that were served atop a lightly curried cauliflower puree layered with a mixture of wilted baby spinach, wild mushrooms, and cubed sweet potatoes with a few pieces of purple broccoli as an accent. It was a feast for the eyes, as well as being wonderfully delicious. One more thing...don't miss the outstanding she crab soup!
We ate at an off time so it was really quiet. As always the service was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without being overbearing. We ate from the lunch prix fixe lunch menu. The salmon with apple sorbet was perfectly balanced with sweet salty and citrusy. My husband has the she crab soup and really enjoyed it. The fried oysters were great. My husband liked the seafood pasta but missed clams in it. The flourless chocolate cake was rich and fishy. We appreciated the advice on the wine choice. Another great meal
Wonderful dining experience. First time there. We went there for our anniversary. They had rose petals on the table when we arrived, and provided a small glass of champagne. First thing that impressed me were their concern for food allergies. We've been to many restaurants, and this was the first time waiter asked me about allergies. I usually have to tell them. Their crab cake is a real crab cake, no crab flavored filler here. Robert was our waiter. He made us feel as if we were royalty. My wife was very happy with my choice.
This restaurant will definitely be on our favorite list.
Our server Ashley was sub par. Rushed us to order and salad did not come out with appetizers as requested. I ordered the flank steak; came out warm not hot ( as did the other meals) but I sent mine back as it was close to cold;by the time it reappeared everyone else had finished dinner. The comment was—- well we don’t have a microwave. We went at 6 pm on a Thursday. Not exactly prime time. Will never go back.
I took my mom here for a belated birthday dinner, as she had never been. Our server Charity was fantastic — knowledgeable, personable, professional, and up-sold without being pushy. The only issue I had was the purée on the sea bass entree was cold, and she had it returned to the kitchen and replated quickly. The woman who sat us was great; I think she was a manager.
Always a 5 star experience. We are regulars and have never had a bad experience.
Fin is a wonderful place for great food and wonderful service!
Let the bartender craft you a cocktail based on your favorite booze. You won’t be disappointed.
In my opinion, best restaurant within 50 miles.
This resteraunt was phenomenal. They let us pick multiple entrees and split them in two so we could share dishes in an impromptu tasting menu. Was a Euphoric experience. Wonderful service, beautiful dishes, top quality taste.
Food was very good. Service was exceptional. Matt was our waiter, and he made are evening quite enjoyable. Very few diners when were there, which made for a fairly quiet dining experience.
We've eaten seafood on both coasts and all around the world and we both agree this is a top 3. So delicious, even in winter!
Impeccable service with an extremely knowledgeable wait staff. Highly recommend the wine pairing tasting menu.
Consistently a great meal. Great corn chouder with crab. You can' t go wrong with any of the seafood entrees.
Our server Jessica was outstanding! Great food and service from start to finish. We chose Fin for our 19th wedding anniversary and would highly recommend.
Chef Kenny Sloane and staff never disappoint! Just amazing!! A consistent treat each and every time! Food, service, knowledge, talent-OUT OF THIS WORLD!!
You HAVE to try Fin!!!
I had the 3 course lunch, salad, crab roll with French fries. The crab was so salty it was inedible, after talking to the server I had it replaced with a crab cake , that was ok. But I never gotten my French fries back, I didn’t mention it. I was very disappointed in the lunch. Took my friends who I had not seen in over 6 yrs, they had the same meal, they left 3 quarters of there meal on the plate.
We enjoyed your restaurant very much. 5 star food and waiter (Dan?). Greeter was ok but inappropriately attired. Liked the ambiance. My wife is a foodie and was much impressed.
It was nice as always made reservations but still had to wait 20 min. Food took an hr to come out very big party but the waiter/chef was very nice so he made up for it.
perfect place, best pick in Town, great food,
anytime if you are looking for a special occasion
The restaurant markets itself as a top class steak and seafood location, however, the steaks were frozen, the lobster was not even deveined so the entrails made their way to my plate. The drinks were so so, and the tables are so wide you can’t even hear what the rest of your party is saying. For 2 drinks, 1 appetizer, and 2 entrees at $160 you should expect good quality, not outback level quality.
Great food and service everytime we have been. Everyone takes pride in the service the offer and the meals that they prepare. Very knowledgeable staff and great wine recommendations.
Absolutely delicious. The she-crab soup was perfectly balanced. A fit for foodies experience. Was visiting on travel. Look forward to enjoying agasin
The she crab soup & poached salmon dinner were amazing.
We enjoyed the Valentine's dinner tasting menu with paired wines. Service was great and we never felt rushed.
Without fail, always a fine experience. We've returned so often our server recognizes us. Anything on the menu is exceptional.
My family really enjoyed our dining experience at Fin -- they have well-prepared, well-presented fresh food that feeds off of the local cuisine. Our waitress was attentive to our needs and guided us through the menu thoughtfully. We have dined there before and enjoyed it as well. Definitely a good place to go on a date or with family!
