Fin Seafood Restaurant
Everything was awesome. The vegetables that came with the entree needed better presentation.
Very creative, excellent preparation, delicious, remarkable flavors. One of the best restaurants around.
I have eaten there several times and enjoyed wonderful food. This time my chicken breast was tough and chewy.
In town for meeting so looking for good place to go.
Outstanding service and food. Everything was cooked to perfection.
Food was good, however very overpriced for what you actually received on the plate. Service was very slow. Prices would suggest this is an upscale restaurant but the decor was very modest and plates and glasses were not super clean. I wiped some green stuff off a bread plate and some food stains off glasses when we sat down. There was also red lipstick and other color stains on table cloth. Food was underwhelming for price.
A miss, known for sweetcorn crab soup, out of by 1pm, really. She crab disappointing alternate. Order 3 course lunch got salad and entree at the same time. Not a memorable Mothers Day meal. Flounder and crab bland as with crab soup.
The menu was very nice. Our party ordered the crab dip for an appetizer, and it was delicious as were two entrees of the blackened salmon tacos. One diner ordered the Bang Bang shrimp for an appetizer, and thought the shrimp tasted "fishy". The other diner ordered shrimp tacos, and also stated that they tasted "fishy". The steak was tasty, as were the desserts of chocolate cake and bread pudding. Our server was very friendly and accommodating, although the service to get our food took a little while (perhaps because it was Mother's Day). Also, it would have been nice if the the outside music was a bit more mellow than it was to add to the ambiance. Overall, we had a lovely experience, but prices are definitely high. It also seemed that dessert prices should be less expensive than entrees as $12.00 desserts seem excessive. I would definitely recommend Fin for a special occassion though!
We love this restaurant! As always, everything was great.... the food, the waiter, the service!!!!!
Fin’s is always my go to restaurant for special occasion and that includes dinner with my favorite guy. We always know the food will be consistently good and the staff friendly and helpful. Don’t take my word, try it for yourself and you’ll come to the same conclusion.
My family and I enjoyed a lovely meal at Fin after my daughter graduated at CNU this spring. (Go Captains!). I got the fish tacos they were awesome. My father got the crab cakes which were also delicious. The restaurant wasn't super loud so you could actually have dinner conversation w/o yelling over the table like some restaurants. The ambience at the restaurant was wonderful and the table service was good. I would recommend Fin if you want something a little bit upper scale than your typical chain sit- down chain restaurants.
Just a lovely staff, wonderful service, temperature a bit too cold, but it's impossible to get the temperature right for all customers. The table was beautifully set, very clean and silverware and glasses spotless. The crab soup was served too cold and consistency too thick but had a delicious flavor, our entrees were delicious and well presented, the wedge salad was just too simple with no flavor, salmon, oysters and shrimp were all delicious had expected little more kale and asparagus not a couple tiny pieces with the Salmon dish. The ladies room is a bit busy decorated and needs some TLC, paint coming off by sink, simplify decor. Over all our entire party felt we would return to their sister restaurant Shlesinger's and not Fin, we felt the entrees knock it out of the park 150% with each visit to Schlesingers, while these were tasty but did not wow. With all respect to the incredible staff, I would return to the bar for appetizers and drinks but not for dinner.
Overall, a good experience. Loud but it was full due to college graduation the next day. Waiter was excellent at picking out wines by the glass for a table with different tastes. I would have given a five but we had one major problem. Daughter found a piece of plastic in her food- a god size piece. Waiter offered to remake and was clearly mortified but she was fine to keep the meal, until she found a second piece and was too nervous to eat it. Of course they took it off the bill and gave her a free dessert. They lost a star because a manager should have shown up at the table and also because he should have removed the dish, and rushed a new one, not put the decision on her. Would we eat here again, yes but it did take a little shine off of the celebration.
My wife and I ate at Fins for the 1st time on Friday, May 10th. We made a reservation for 5:30 p.m. We arrived at approximately 5:24 p.m. We requested a booth for two and we were immediately seated at a great booth. Our waiter came over in about 5 minutes and told us about the specials of the day and provided information on some items to consider. He took our drink orders and asked politely if we needed more time to order, which since the menu was new, we asked for a few more minutes. He came back with our iced teas and took our order in about 5-7 minutes. We ordered the barbecue fried oysters for an appetizer. We both ordered the beef tenderloin (8 oz.) well done. My wife got scallops as a side and I got shrimp. The oysters were covered with a blue cheese dressing with chunks. They could have been fried a little harder, but they were still absolutely delicious. The waiter brought us some bread as he told us since we requested our beef tenderloins well done, it was going to take a few minutes longer, which was fine. The meat came out with the vegetables. The tenderloins were well done crusty on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The vegetables were seasoned perfectly. My wife's scallops were grilled to perfections as were my shrimp. Everything was delicious and I would recommend this to anyone. It wasn't cheap but it was worth every penny. I plan on going again this year.
Incredible experience, had the seven course tasting menu, food was incredible, service was some of the best we’ve ever had. One of our favorite restaurants that gave us one of the best experiences we’ve ever had.
Tapas were creative and delicious. Service was perfect.
Fin is a perfect place for a fine dinner, but this time we tried their $20 3-course lunch menu and I think that the value and the quality for the price paid is great!
Celebrated my husband’s birthday and had a wonderful time. Fin never fails to please!
We always enjoy coming.
We had an excellent lunch here. Service, menu options, and ambiance very nice. Appetizers and entrees delicious and appealing presentation. Will definitely return.
Awesome!....as always. The best dining experience!
Service and food were both excellent!
Special Easter brunch menu still had about six choices of entree. The she crab soup is excellent with a good amount of crab and just a little kick. The lobster omelet had plenty of lobster and the asparagus in it was cooked to crisp-tender perfection..not mushy and not woody! Our server,Chantelle, was very sweet, friendly and competent.
Wonderful server, perfect atmosphere, great location, gourmet farm to table food, reasonable prices, special drink selections, great wine menu, inside and outside dining options, never felt rushed to leave
It was quiet and the service was exceptional! The food was more than I could describe, it was worth every penny!
Just a quiet lunch with my daughter. Food was delicious as always.
The wait staff was very nice and seemed excited about the food they served. This is a place to go when you have time to relax and enjoy your meal. Our entrees came out 35 minutes after we ordered. The seafood was hot and very good. My bed of risotto seemed cool as if it had waited a bit for the fish. The only unfortunate aspect was that we were seated next to a table with two young toddlers. For the prices at the restaurant and for a Friday night date it was disappointing to have to listen to cartoons on an ipad, spoons tapping the table and outbursts. It’s not the kids’ fault. Disappointing that the parents didn’t try to keep their own volume down. We couldn’t hear our conversation at our own table. I noticed other couples in the restaurant seemed perturbed, too. That family’s waiter spoke in a high volume with them which didn’t help. The only thing the staff could do in the future would be to seat high-chair customers away from romantic tables for two and use a lower tone of voice to give the hint that this is meant to be fine dining.
Nice lunch. Delicious she crab soup!
Fin serves outstanding food and creative cocktails, always accompanied by attentive service. You cannot go wrong with meal at Fin - a treat for special occasions too!
When I made reservations, I indicated that it was for an anniversary and Fin when out of there way to make the dinner special. The table was decorated with rose petals and they presented us with champagne for a toast upon being seated. The service was phenomenal with a great ambience. We loved the food! We had the pork belly and a salad for a starter, then we had salmon, crab cakes and truffle Mac and cheese for the entrees and it was all excellent!
This place never disappoints. The food is special and the staff is extremely professional and friendly. The Tuna Tartar appetizer with sriracha ice cream is one of my favorite dishes at any restaurant.
The service was excellent and the food good; my wife's in a wheelchair and the restaurant fitted her in with no problems. We would go there again, and in fact I've been there many times for business meetings. I was happy to see the bar room was busy, too. The restaurant has a unique floor plan that I think adds to the ambiance.
The only downside was the noise level. We had a loud table next to us; the occupants weren't necessarily unpleasant, they just were having a good time and had to raise their voices to overcome the general noise in the room. I'm not sure what you can do about that other than try taunt a little most distance between tables.
Jessica turned the 7-course tasting into an experience of a lifetime. Thanks Jessica!
Amazing food, excellent service. Great for a date night or special occasion. The food is well worth the price.
We enjoy the seafood at Fin when in Newport News . I had the lump crab with flounder. And my wife had the scallops' both excellent choices.
Tapas Tuesday! Menu changes weekly it's always fantastic flavors.
Kenny and crew always does a fantastic job and the food is great! Thanks again!
LOVE, love, love Fin!!! The food is amazing, creative, and fresh. The servers are friendly and they know the food and the menu well. The last time we were there they were rolling out a new menu and they were so interested to discuss it with us and get our opinions. We will go as often as possible.
Birthday dinner for my 93 year old uncle. The 3 of us had the best meals ever.
This meal was wonderful as always. As usual, my partner and I had fish. It was perfectly cooked and delicious- the only criticism is that my partner would have preferred a little less salt. Service was the excellent as always. The wine list is extensive and they even had a Tokay from Australia for dessert - delicious!
