   Excellent choice for fine wine and seafood in Newport News. Booked a late minute reservation for a Saturday night and was greeted with warmth and an outdoor table. Our waitress, Katie was extremely helpful in selecting menu items and also provided my wife with an impromptu mini wine tasting so she could select her favorite. My son and wife had the salmon (smoked under glass which was a sight to see) and I had the scallops with a saffron risotto. Excellent meal for the price and service was impeccable. Thanks to Katie for guiding us through the dining experience and hope to visit again on a subsequent visit to Newport News. The prices are not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for….put it this way, we have paid a lot more for worse meals. Thanks staff at Fin!

   Everything was fine start to finish, friendly greeting, table was ready and as requested, our server was super she did a fine job caring for us.. she provided good suggestions, and everything we ordered, came as ordered and expected and at our pace.    For appetizers we had the she crab soup and the grilled romaine salad. Both appetizers were good but not exceptional. We then both had the fresh fish of the day, which was Cobia. The fish was dense and dry, indicating that it was overcooked. It was served in a bed of seasonal vegetables that had a strong onion flavor, over taking the mild taste of the Cobia, and did not accent it well. Even though we did not have wine, we were impressed by the restaurant’s wine list. We were looking forward to the experience after reading the reviews but overall we were disappointed.

   We enjoyed an excellent anniversary dinner at Fin. The hostess knew all of the requests we had made during our reservation, and we were seated at a table with rose petals and presented a glass of champagne upon being seated. Our server was attentive but not pushy and knowledgeable about all our questions. We ordered the 5-course tasting menu with reserve wines and everything was delicious. I'm not sure I could choose a favorite course or wine, and was very pleased. My only negative feedback is that the wine pairings for courses 3 and 4 could have been improved. The red blend was tasty but did not compliment the scallops, and the cabernet overpowered the waygu. However, we still had a fantastic experience and will strongly recommend it to others, especially for a special occasion.

    Excellent restaurant for innovative food presentation. I meet GFs lunches and dinners to sample new menu items. Tuna tartare with sriracha ce cream didn’t disappoint, actually could have had more of a kick. I also ordered salmon with grilled romaine,, cooked perfectly. My friend had the crab cake with a Caesar salad. No filler and gluten free crab cake she said was delicious. Don’t hesitate, visit Fin. If you like fresh seafood You won’t be disappointed. Also ordered the surf and turf Philly sandwich to go for a friend with Tots, he said it was a great choice.
