We were excited about Filament, but our waiter could not have been more rude. We ordered several appetizers because frankly the main course menu was sparse. Our appetizers were just "meh". Turns out, Filament closed their doors the very next day. Maybe that's why our waiter was kind of a jerk.
Great food and service. Will definitely go again
Appetizers were good. My cuban was good. Wife's steak was just ok though. I liked the atmosphere. Lively and fun.
I had family in from out of town. I had been raving about the burger at Filament. When we got there they were out of burgers. We sat in the back near the kitchen which made the restaurant seem extra hot. Our server was very pleasant, but they seem understaffed on Saturday night.
The fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese app was by far the highlight of our meal. I had the fried catfish for my main course which was drenched in hot sauce...I could hardly taste the fish because of it. My husband ordered the short ribs, which were honestly just ok. It looked and tasted like it had been under the heat lamps for way too long. So our main entrees were pretty disappointing, but we thought our app, drinks, service, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was great.
I was looking forward to this experience. FT33, their sister restaurant is my favorite in town. My disappointment started with a salad that was over dressed with a bright vinegar aftertaste and ended with an uninspired meat board. Dessert swept in to save the evening. Old fashioned pudding of coconut with raspberry was a fresh sweet summer inspiration and the textures and flavors of the chocolate salted pretzel candy bar made it worth the trip.
Great atmosphere and food. The server was very attentive and it's become one of my favorite spots in Dallas
The burger was fantastic! Get the Whiskey Smash cocktail!
Still make favorite restaurant in Deep Ellum!
Id like to say it was a terrible experience so people don't go here, but I would be lying for selfish reasons. It was a great brunch experience. The french toast was ridiculously good. We also had the hash and shrimp and grits were delicious. Our waitress was so sweet and knowledgeable. Definitely adding this to our normal brunch rotation.
Birthday lunch for a friend! Trout was amazing!!
Absolutely dead on this Wednesday night. Bar tender was server also. Hopefully they make it.. great food but lots of gnats
It is a great dive. It was a fun experience. Menu is not very big, but food is very tasty. Highly recommend the "fried green tomatoes with pork belly" . On the other hand, wine and cocktails are very pricey and not very good. Stick to beer if you have dinner at this place.
Great Service and Great food!!! Different Menu-Deviled eggs-Unbelieveable!!
Filament was cool place, but a somewhat limited menu. But over all the food was pretty good. Service was okay, our server was a little awkward but did the job. I wouldn't necessarily go again, but it wasn't a bad place.
Shrimp and grits and short ribs were magical
Great food, and Chris provided great service. Everyone attentive. Highly recommend!
We arrived to celebrate a birthday and left celebrating a fun new find on the Dallas dining scene.
Awesome venue, great chicken and waffles and french toast on the brunch menu. The coffee was also surprisingly good.
We selected Filament based on reviews and the fact that chef Matt McCallister was involved. It is a very comfortable restaurant. I appreciate the creative approach to Southern cuisine but we found the dining experience to be hit and miss. The Fried Green Tomatoes and Crispy Pork Belly was a exactly what I had hoped to taste; a creative combination of traditional Southern staples. On the other hand, the Berkshire Pork Short Ribs were a disappointment. There was nothing special about the preparation of the ribs, in fact, they were without flavor. The fried potato salad, served underneath the ribs, was interesting and flavorful. Overall I thought this restaurant was fine. I did not think it lived up to the buzz that had influenced our decision to dine there.
Filament's southern-inspired selections are not only delicious but feel like comfort food. The fried green tomato/pork belly/pimento cheese app is crave worthy, while the trout was super fresh and perfectly prepared. A friendly server and laid-back atmosphere added to the enjoyment.
Heavy-handed, over-seasoned, aggressively fried. Soggy produce (salad) & in-fresh shrimp (& grits)
i was in the saturday before memorial day for an 8pm reservation. we were so hungry and when my food came (i ordered the fish), it was so salty, i took one bite and spit it out. its like they dipped it in salt and put it on a pan. it was horrible. and since the server didn't come by till everyone was finished eating, i couldn't even send it back. i paid 30 bucks for no food
Everything waa sensational. The food was nice and full of flavor. Great evening to celebrate my sons 19th birthday.
My wife and I love Filament! The food is uniquely delicious and the vibe is memorably industrial, which I'm quite fond of. It really lives up to its namesake. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items. They genuinely care that your dining experience is a satisfying and memorable one.
On a fun note... I asked the waiter about the mac & cheese, whether it had a uniqueness that stood out or was honestly just on par with something you could make yourself at home (it amazes me how many places serve you bland mac & cheese). To our surprise the chef and manager where so tickled by our inquiry that they served us up a side of mac & cheese free of charge! and spoiler alert... will order again!
Chris is AMAZING! And the free shots for the whole section were the icing on top of the cake
I was very excited to come to Filament. I heard great things from peers at work. However, our server was not that attentive and the french toast was tough. It seemed like it needed to be warmed up. I do believe this was just a one off but I wish it hadn't been my first experience so I could confirm for myself. Either way, don't think I'll be in a rush to go back.
Filament has a great atmosphere. As soon as we walked in we commented on the charm of the space. We had Mother's Day brunch and everything we ordered was outstanding. We started with the deviled eggs, which came four to an order... I could have eaten all four myself. Great flavor. We also ordered the Filament Burger and was very pleased. Great size portion. The chicken and waffles were filling and had a yummy spicy ranch sauce. We will be back!
Service was incredibly poor and food was served cold. A bad experience. Won't return to this establishment.
Good overall but awfully slow service given that it wasn't very crowded.
Our server had all the skills you would hope for...spoke loudly enough and clearly, friendly, knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive, nice personal touch while still being very professional. I wish I could remember her name, but she was working on Wed 5/3 at 6:30pm.
Southern comfort foods with a surprisingly delicious twist!
The food and customer service was awesome. The drink menu was different. The bar did make me something different. I will definitely be back.
We enjoyed our time. The food was OK and we were a little disappointed to have a table all the way atvthe back of the restaurant but as the noise level increased that ended up being a positive. Our server was very nice and fairly responsive considering where our table was. The restrooms were much more "bar quality" than restaurant quality. We were there for a birthday but no special attention was given to that detail...
Service and food were both fantastic we will be back
We were greeted and seated promptly. The service during our visit was outstanding. The food was a great twist on conventional comfort food. We went for weekend brunch and everything we had was delicious. I opted for the vodka cocktail instead of the traditional mimosa & I'm so glad I did. It was wonderful! I would go back again just to have that. We ordered desserts & found out the pastry chef had just been nominated for an award. The strawberry shortcake was light and tasty. My date was not impressed with the banana pudding. He said it wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. We left feeling satisfied, but not so stuffed we were miserable.
The cocktails were great. Service was very friendly. It seemed like the kitchen was bottlenecked. We were having a good time hanging out, so it was not a bother. The only time it was a problem - I ordered the benedict, which arrived cold. Would have been nice if it were at least warm.
Great time with my brother. He came to town in a quick trip and he enjoyed the burger and deviled eggs. Great evening. Make a reservation if you're going on a Friday or Saturday evening
Great burger, great steak, great drinks.
