Best Open Kitchen Restaurants in St Matthews

These Chicagolanders enjoyed a late night nosh at Brendon’s and were greeted by Rebecca and Mike. Rebecca is studying for her sommelier exam, level 1 and was knowledgeable and helpful in steering me to a delicious red wine. We’d been to a the winery ourselves and had fond memories so ordered the recommended Cab from Darioush at $40/glass. Husband had the old fashioned which he enjoyed and said was orange forward. We ordered 3 appetizers to share. The crab and corn chowder bowl was plenty to share. It was flavorful with bits of crab but there were a few pieces of fresh corn that may have been cut too close to the cob and left the bite tough and woody. I let them know and Rebecca was grateful for the feedback and informed the kitchen. This is a sign of a good quality restaurant, only wanting to serve the best. We enjoyed the fried mushrooms with a homemade mild horseradish dipping sauce. The tuna tar tar tower was next and my husband ate most of it since I was full. It was a big portion and prepared and presented with care. We would return for a full on dinner if we were in town again.

Everything was great not fan of prime rib, or chicken. Salmon amazing and mashed potatoes . Was on middle of doing gifts for BFF bday server interrupted or comvo and her opening to ask about checks. We were going to order another round but said hey forget it now. But other than amazing experience.

we had an excellent time at 8up! the manager with the mustache made us feel like VIP’s and the server was very attentive. we tried a couple of passionistas to drink that really hit the spot and the woodfire pizza was on point!! will be back for sure
