Tellers serves authentic interpretations of regional Italian cuisine. Traditional methods of Italian cooking and the philosophy of using seasonal ingredients with integrity form the basis of the house made pastas, wood oven-baked Neapolitan pizzas, and locally sourced vegetables and steaks cooked over a wood burning grill. Tellers’ extensive Italian wine list highlights the breadth and diversity of Italy’s wine growing regions and unique varietals. Tellers is located in the historic First National Bank gallery amongst the original teller booths, which have been meticulously restored. The atmosphere at Tellers and The Great Hall embraces the building’s rich heritage as a convivial communal space.*Please Note: Afternoon Tea Service reservations can be made via OpenTable Experiences on The Great Hall OpenTable page*

James Beard Award-winning Chef Andrew Black makes his way back to Skirvin Hotel to open his newest restaurant concept, Perle Mesta. The restaurant will be his first concept to open since winning a James Beard award as 2023’s Best Chef Southwest and will be located on the first floor of the historic Skirvin Hotel (One Park Avenue, Oklahoma City). Perle Mesta will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner service and the cuisine will reflect Chef Black’s continued exploration of what he calls “possibility cuisine,” a concept he attributes to his style of cooking that explores and embraces the endless possibilities of ingredients, flavors, techniques, and cultural influences. In this context, possibility cuisine involves chefs pushing the boundaries of traditional cooking and experimenting with unconventional ingredients, fusion cuisine, molecular gastronomy, or avant-garde techniques. It may involve a sense of creativity, innovation, and openness to exploring new culinary horizons.

My elderly mother and adult daughter joined me for Tea Party. The location was lovely, couldn’t be more inviting. The ambience was pleasant and suitable for an afternoon tea. We enjoyed most of the food and the tea. The jasmine and chamomile were our favorites. We tried the hibiscus, but none of us thought it palatable. The edible tray was beautiful. Most of the bits were delightful. The steak on toast was very tough. The meat was cut with the grain and the bread was so tough I couldn’t actually get a bite! Other than that, the food was all one could expect. I did take issue with our server. She was quite dull, did not smile or act like she wanted to serve us. We had to ask to have our dishes cleared for the desserts as our tiny plates were filled with bits and pieces. The cost of the day was overpriced for the experience. We split one bottle of still water for $6 (we didn’t actually know water was not included). The $50 per person was excessive, but I think the experience, for one time only, was worth it. The digital communication from the event was frequent. It was unexpected that they would add the 20% gratuity on a table for three. She did not earn that. Overall, for a one-time event, it was good.
