- AanthonyIndiana •1 review5.0Dined 6 days agoMy wife and I took a 2 day get away to San Antonio. We saw a show at the Stable Hall and then had dinner at the Boiler House. Cynthia our server was excellent. She explained the menu to us and even told us about the specials that weren't on the menu. She was very attentive throughout our dinner stay. We start our meal with the pimento cheese dip topped with a tomato jam and chicharrons. Its was very delicious. We also had an order cheddar Jalapeño biscuits that came out nice and warm and were very fluffy and moist. For our main course we shared a Ribeye that was cooked exactly how we requested it. To often our steaks are either over cooked or under cooked. The Boiler House got it just right. The steak was so soft and tender with great flavor. You could tell that the steak was Prime grade quality as advertised. In Vegas we had a steak that was supposedly "prime" grade but had the toughness of a "choice" grade steak. We appreciated that we were getting what we paid for. For the sides we chose the poblano mac and cheese, the loaded whipped potatoes, and the Brussel sprouts top with the same tomato jam as the pimento. Every one of the sides were excellent and the portions could have easily feed 3 people. A lot of high end steak houses that we have dinner at charge so much for sides and they are tiny portions. We finished our meal with a white chocolate bread pudding topped with vanilla ice cream. It was the perfect way to top off our evening. Overall our experience at the Boiler House was great. We enjoyed every minute of it and would definitely recommend it to anyone. We spent $150 before tip, and felt that the quality of the food definitely matched the price tag. We can't wait to take another trip to San Antonio and vist the Boiler House again.More infoBoiler House at PearlPrice: Expensive• Contemporary Southern• Downtown•4.6
- RRebeccaWashington, D.C. Area •25 reviews5.0Dined on Feb 6, 2025Dean’s Steakhouse is a great restaurant and a jewel in San Antonio - the only reason we gave it a 4 is that the service to our table was subpar. And I stress our table, as we noted better service at nearby tables. Set in a hotel and touted to have been an old schoolhouse, the restaurant is elegant and contemporary. Love the ambiance. The items we ordered - especially the steaks - were cooked to perfection. The appetizer - oysters Rockefeller were delicious. Neither my husband nor I are big eaters so we only ordered a vegetable as a side. The only negative was the service. It took at least 10 minutes before our waiter arrived at our table after we’d been seated. While we noticed the table next to us was attended to promptly. The waiter seemed put out that we chose not to order either one of their signature cocktails or a bottle of wine (we had enjoyed cocktails earlier and didn’t want a whole bottle) and after that we seemed to get even less attention. He appeared to be even less pleased with the quantity of food ordered. It was disappointing as we were celebrating our 25th anniversary and I had wanted an especially lovely evening.More infoDean's Steak & SeafoodPrice: Very Expensive• Steak• Downtown•4.6
