A welcome pub lunch when walking the SDW. Very steep path down so worth thinking about whether you want to walk back up afterwards or find another route from the pub. You have to order at the bar which wasn’t made clear to us on arrival. The starters make good “small plates”. Excellent squid! And nice rose by the glass!

Good atmosphere and well worth the visit. Service was very good as was the food. Quality of the food was good and overall represents value for money. To enjoy the full menu with drinks you will spend around £50 per head which in my opinion is about right for what you get. My wife and I will be back for a further visit.

Booked a table for 2pm but they'd already run out of stuffing, soon after they'd run out of Yorkshire puddings. We were in a nice corner but it meant that we kept getting overlooked for service: no extra drinks offered and we asked for the dessert menu but it was over 40 minutes before we had our order taken - and that was only because we went to the bar. That said, the welcome was friendly, had a lovely garden, good choice of drinks and the food good. Would go back.

Excellent as always. Requested a pod when booking as my father has dementia and he doesn't do well in hustle and bustle of being inside the pub. Food excellent and plenty of it. Nice to enjoy a good meal where we can all join in the conversation. Father was relaxed throughout the meal. We will be booking again.

We were fortunate to be able to be out in the glorious garden, at the foot of the Downs, in the sunshine -- absolutely brilliantly looked after by every single member of staff (and the kitchen). Thank you very kindly.
