Overall good vibe of the restaurant and friendly staff and I would come back again. Food wise, I’d really like to give some constructive feedback but I know the chef might hate me. First of all definitely great value and awesome quality of the truffle from WA. My absolute favorite dish is the wagyu and truffle dish - many different elements, full of flavors and very well balanced. Rocket leaves are a nice touch. The pasta and arancini were both also nice, ticked all boxes for a nice Italian restaurant. However not so impressed with the baked cheese - it was nice with the touch of walnut but at that time it was too much bread and felt too filling with the cheese. The dish felt a bit too homemade and lacking of finesse. Probably the chef can consider some choux pastry with mushroom rather than another focaccia and cheese mixture? And some crunchy texture somewhere so you’re not moving from baked cheese to creamy pasta? My biggest disappointment was the dessert (fried ice cream with truffle) though. I admit I have very high standard for dessert and many restaurants seem to always leave dessert as an afterthought, but it actually sets the tone for a degustation menu. My thought when I first saw the dessert was that the chef wants to show respect to the famous Pierre Hermes truffle dessert, but after the first bite for me this feels like a cuisine chef wants to mimic the shape of PH, by throwing a big ice cream ball in a deep fryer and shredded some truffle on top. Fried ice cream is boring enough, And ice cream inside… vanilla. seriously? It’s so vanilla. At least choose a nutty Flavour so it balances with the truffle. When the melted vanilla ice cream (probably from bulla) melts the candy floss all you can taste is a pool of overly sweet anglaise and the truffle is completely lost. I would go back to the restaurant for their pasta and Entree but no desserts pleaseMore infoSemola RestaurantPrice: Moderate• Italian• Sydenham•4.6
