As we booked at the last minute and the restaurant was almost full, we were offered a bar table, ie a tall bench seat with stools set in one of the front window bays. This was a perfect place to watch the world go by on Fore St. Service was friendly, courteous and professional, with our food and wine order taken promptly. Our dishes were delicious and hearty enough to leave us without any space for pudding, with great options for veggie and fish as well as meat. Once we had requested and settled the bill, we were given space to finish our drinks and leave at our own pace, under no pressure to rush. Overall a great place to visit with a lovely atmosphere, either for a relaxed meal or a special occasion. Their commitment to sustainability is a bonus.

Our first time at Roy's and we had a great evening. Really good food and excellent service, will definitely be returning.

Food, service and staff all very good, we had a really enjoyable evening. It is a very good, varied menu and all choices were well received. As it claims, “ best pub food in Herts”, I think this is true!

Great service, good food in lovely atmosphere at reasonable prices

Food was delicious. Order wasn’t exactly what we asked for but we didn’t complain. Ended up with an extra portion of chips we paid for. May have been a new member of staff. Had the lunch menu offer. The open steak sandwich was delicious and the chips one of the best I’ve ever had.
