Blacklock is a modern take of the Great British chophouse nestled in the corner of a Grade II listed textiles warehouse. We take the best meat in the country from the award-winning farmer and butcher Philip Warren in Cornwall. We cook chops simply over our charcoal grill with a little help from vintage Blacklock irons and serve it all up alongside cocktails from the trolley and wine on tap in our subterranean chop mecca. One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Just simple, tasty ingredients prepared really well. I had a rare fillet with garlic bone marrow, roasted sweet potato and a broccoli and walnut salad. I was dining alone, which was great because I could savour every bite! But I will be back and I will bring friends.

The soup was really good and the fish was great with a nice light batter, but they were let down by frozen chips and a bread roll that I’d say was bought in part baked. It would be worth making a bit of effort with the sides to match the calibre of the main parts of the meal. Fresh bread and real chips isn’t a lot to ask.
