Cara Wine Bar is the venture of young couple Max Crawford and Jess Newby. Cara means dear one or beloved in Gaelic and Italian, and is used for old friends. The Bistro is tucked away in The Junction Village, in the left corner. Cara is designed to be a place you can regularly come for a bite to eat and a glass of something delicious. The venue is very intimate. There is plenty of bar space if you are by yourself and an open kitchen so you can chat to Max while he is cooking, as well as watching what is happening. For the Summer nights, there is terrace seating. The menu utilises seasonal produce and changes regularly so there will always be something new, with lots of French, Italian, Spanish and British influences. Max has worked around the world. Notably in Toronto, Canada, at Guilietta, and in London in Petersham Nursery and with Chris Leach of Manteca. He also spent time in Tasmania as head chef at Havilah Wine Bar - by Ricky Evans of Two Tonne in the Tamar Valley.
