Best Restaurants with Bar Seating in Newcastle

Honestly I would go back overall. The hostesses and one of the waiters were not the most professional or accommodating. About 70% of my party had arrived and they were telling me per policy they wouldn’t see us, even though there was nobody else seated at the time and our table has been ready for over a half an hour because I received the text. I explained to them that everybody was 5 to 10 minutes out and we would love to sit down and order drinks and it would make the most sense to see us so that we could begin purchasing and they would actually make more money ultimately they seated us, but there was a lot of resistance at first. I would get it if it was busy, but it wasn’t. I think we have one of the first reservations. We were celebrating a birthday and we were absolutely pleased with the delicious food so many options the ambience and the person who did the hibachi for us (Billy) he was an absolute joy and we loved every second. At the end of the night, the waiter came and asked us if we would like dessert. I casually asked if there was anything they could do since it was my birthday and I would expect a high-end place to provide a birthday treat (this is usually not an issue) his response was a very dry “um I will consider it” or “I’ll think about it” which was incredibly odd and awkward. They did end up bringing a cute little dessert with happy birthday written on it which I very much appreciated but the customer service just seemed like it could use some work as far as friendliness goes. Maybe staff just needs a little bit more training because otherwise the menu and the ambience and the overall environment is fantastic and I highly recommend.

Staff was pleasant, but spread thin. Cocktail order was incorrect, warm courses were extremely salty. Our server was quite nice, but clearly not supported and not as attentive as could be, not their fault. It’s a great place but the vibe has been off significantly since the layoffs and service charge was implemented due to new city laws.

My only complaint is that I made a reservation for a Monday, my wife's birthday. Upon arrival, we were seated at a table near the entrance to the main dining room, next to a family with two small children. I toured the restaurant and noticed several much nicer tables further into the dining room. I asked to be moved and was. After this, the service and food were outstanding.
