Best Restaurants for Afternoon Tea in Spitalfields

What struck me on entering the Lanesborough was the sheer elegance of the decor. The staff immediately greeted my friends and I and we were shown to the beautiful room where tea was served. It was like being transported back in time with the tall glass ceiling which made everything so light.The pastel blue walls and carpet are stunningly beautiful and as we were shown to our seats the staff were attentive and friendly. It was a hot day but the temperature was just right inside and we could hear the sounds of a harp being played. The Bridgerton tea itself was delightful and we were able to sit and chat for as long as we wanted, there was no hurrying us off our table. In particular we loved the cream cheese and smoked salmon sandwiches which had dill and horseradish giving them a wonderful flavour. The warm scones were served with both jam and a delicious lemon curd and we tried several different teas. The whole experience was wonderful and I would totally recommend this afternoon tea to anyone.

We visited Roast for afternoon tea yesterday to celebrate our anniversary, and it was a truly memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt special. The decorations were beautiful and thoughtfully done, creating a warm and elegant setting that perfectly suited the occasion. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel genuinely welcomed and celebrated. The afternoon tea itself was excellent—a delicious variety of freshly prepared sandwiches, warm scones with jam and cream, and an indulgent selection of cakes and pastries. The tea options were great too, with something for everyone. It was the perfect way to celebrate our day—relaxed, delicious, and full of charm. We’d absolutely recommend Roast for a special occasion or just a treat-yourself afternoon. Thank you for making our anniversary so lovely!

From entering through the door of the Shangri-La we were greeted by friendly staff and made to feel most welcome. The table by the window gave us a superb view of tower bridge and other areas of London. The staff were attentive and friendly and attention to detail was superb. The seaside afternoon tea was plentiful, displayed lovely and tasted just as good. The experience was one made very special by all and I highly recommend the experience. One I would return to again

Lovely atmosphere that is super fun and really enjoyable to children and adults. Food is tasty and spot on for the theme. Relaxed enough for small children (& adults) to behave like children 😊
