Best Restaurants for Afternoon Coffee in Santa Croce

Nice rooftop dining. Food was very good, not spectacular. Enjoyed the buffalo mozzarella with tomato and olives.

Amazing experience. The package of $80 is well worth it to include a meal and a gondola ride.

What can I say about The Gritti Terrace that hasn’t already been said? It has THE most iconic location and stunning backdrop for dining and photographs. Perhaps what goes overlooked is the level of service you get. Between Enrico (Maitre D), Maria (sommelier) and Domenico (server), I don’t know who was better. They were all warm, welcoming, engaging, accommodating, fun and endearing! We walked in as guests and left feeling like family. The interaction was second to none. The hospitality and professionalism displayed by these three employees rivaled the stunning scenery we were surrounded by. The food - the food was excellent! Fresh, delicious and the drinks were delightful as well. Their tiramisu is really an interesting take, as it’s tiramisu flavored ice cream, with a soaked-in-espresso lady finger inside, wrapped in a chocolate shell made to look like a large coffee bean. I thoroughly enjoyed it. We cannot wait to go back to Venice so we can enjoy Gritti Terrace again and again. This place is a must visit in our opinion.

The overall experience was nice, wait staff was attentive, however, it was off putting to be told as I was being seated by the hostess, that due to high demand they would need me to vacate the table in 90mins. I was quite disappointed and would never accept a reservation under these conditions nor do I expect as much when I’ve planned in advance to make a reservation. As a result it felt as though my courses were rushed out to me which dampened my mood and I felt rushed which was disappointing.
