Open Tuesday to Sunday with food served all day from noon.We now have 3 Giant heated Tipis, they provide lots of fresh air and a lovely open environment, they are also heated.Formerly an 18th Century farmhouse boasting exposed beams, oak floors, exposed brickwork and oak tables. This leads to a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere with candle lit tables and real flame stoves. The cuisine is typically modern European, classically cooked using cornerstones such as stock pots to create their sauces with a brigade that has a passion for what they do. This is exciting times for the pub which now has a new bar serving real ale straight from the cask. Be sure to check out the website regularly to keep up with the latest events and offers.

A photo of Bowleys at the Plough restaurant
4.8
Exceptional(265)
Price: Very Expensive
• British • West Malling
Booked 2 times today
The Plough isn't your average countryside pub. Sitting on a quiet lane in a quintessentially English village, The Plough was set to be sold off the developers when 120 members of the community came together to invest, and save, their local. After its purchase and renovation, the Yates family took over the kitchen and opened the pub's small, but proud, restaurant, Bowleys. Head Chef Alex Yates is still very early on in his career but though only in his early twenties, he has already spent two years in the kitchens at The Goring Hotel in London, as well as having gained experience with Rick Stein and even once cooking for the Queen. Bowleys menus have a traditional feel and adhere to classic, English fare with a fine dining twist. There are several options to choose between including a tasting menu, set lunch, a la carte, brunch and Sunday lunch. The tasting menu is the jewel in Bowleys crown and consists of five courses, with an optional sixth.

Creative selection of local ingredients combined with flare and innovation, it was a pleasure for the eyes and tastebuds, leaving you wanting more. Combined with thoughtful use of tableware, great presentation and attentive service made it a place we will return to! We left very satisfied, impressed and happy!

We had a wonderful bday celebration here for my husband’s bday (though no special bday treats provided). The 6 course meal with wine pairing was exquisite, with each course delicately balanced on flavours, and adequate portion sizes were given so that by the end of the meal we both felt stuffed! The wine pairings were amazing and waitress service attentive, but not obtrusive. The restaurant is a small, intimate, 4-tabled affair and when we were eating there were just 4 guests so it felt special and almost like private dining. The music was retro and upbeat, but slightly too loud for me as I was sat directly under the speaker - I enjoyed the music so much that it slightly interfered with my attentiveness to tastes of food! We didn’t feel rushed and enjoyed being able to see the chefs at work from our seat. An expensive but well worth cost that my husband thoroughly enjoyed as his birthday treat. I would highly recommend. Thankyou.
