The Hop Vine formerly the ‘Royal Hotel’ was built in 1874 and was the main stopping off point for goods being transported to and from the old Turnpike road the A59. The Royal as it was known has served the community and travellers alike. To the rear of the building in our historic Cobbled Garden you will find our own brewery housed in the stables which were used for the horses and stage coaches as they passed through the village. From Ales to YPA’s, to Blonde beers we are a small producer using primary English hops brewing exclusively in house for The Hop Vine and our sister pub the Legh Arms.Our countryside sister the Legh Arms is our latest addition to the family and is situated in the pretty hamlet of Mere Brow. Here we serve our trademark delicious home produced quality food and excellent home brewed ales. This warm and appealing gastropub has been renovated throughout to showcase an array of local antiques including a stunning array of Barraclough clocks, homage to John Barraclough himself, Clockmaker to the Brontes, who used to live in this very building in the Georgian era.We serve only food made using the freshest seasonal British produce and our menu changes through the weeks to reflect this. We have a custom-made Josper charcoal grill which is the hottest indoor grill available and used by the best restaurants in the country. Cooking on the Josper ensures none of the natural moisture or flavour escapes from the food, whilst at the same time adding the distinct chargrilled taste.

    Excellent Service and Food. The 4 of us had the roast dinners and they were all delicious! Only one comment would be to simplify the puddings - I feel that trying to make classic dishes slightly different didn't improve them. Always great service and ambience in The Royal. Thanks for a lovely meal!

    Fabulous Sunday lunch. I had roast beef that was so tender it melted in the mouth, served with roasties, mash and lots of veg - just as I like it . Well worth a visit. We will be going again ☺️
