Best Pre-Theater Restaurants in Swarthmore

What a fantastic find! We were visiting for the weekend and looking for something a little different from our normal night-out fare. So glad we found SouthGate, as it was absolutely fantastic! We throughly enjoyed the Korean chicken (crunchy and delicious, but soy and spicy versions), the bulgogi beef bao buns (soft and sweet), fried pork mandoo (perfectly cooked and seasoned), and the SouthGate fries (deliciously spicy). Our party of 5 was sat outside on the patio, and it was a perfect spot for conversation…inside sounded a little noisier when I popped into the restroom. Service was great and attentive!

The reservation was honored. The menu had several options. The food was delicious and prepared perfectly. My wife had the Chilean Sea Bass and I had the tuna. For dessert we had cappuccinos and the Greek cheesecake. Scrumptious. Our server, Gwen, was outstanding. She was attentive, personable, friendly and was helpful with her recommendations.

Food, ambience and service were all great. There are caveats in small print in the menu that everyone must order an entree also the restaurant is cash only.

great small, BYOB place. we are from Cincinnati. Went on a busy sat evening. Food choices/explanation of menu are excellent. The food taste, quantity and temperature were really good. Place is small, and noisy BUT service is personal. Great value. Would definitely go back.

Delicious food, super friendly and helpful staff, very clean and timely service! Will definitely be back!
