Best Pre-Theater Restaurants in Ardmore

Such a Philadelphia atmosphere-walking into the bar upon entering, the main wall features a beautiful and massy painting of Ben Franklin…moving on to the dining room, find another massive image of George Washington and you are almost overwhelmed with the wonderful aroma of the foods on the menu! I loved the Polenta Cake appetizer topped with pine nuts, black pepper - lightly fried…my friend enjoyed the pear salad. For dinner he ordered the pork roulade which was delightful. I ordered the Fois Gras which is not on the menu and was a special. After one bite the delicious flavor exploded in my mouth but the serving was almost gone. I never was served a smaller serving…almost ridiculous. It should not have left the kitchen! The waitress, Erin, quickly took it back and I ordered the filet, which was prepared to perfection! It was served quickly as I like my steak very rare! For dessert, I really went over the top ordering the Cassis Posset which was one of the best desserts I ever enjoyed — a Cassis flavored custard, bruleed apples, creme chantilly, and topped with shaved chocolate! All in all a fabulous meal! By all means, make reservations, and go! Ask for Erin… just a terrific server! GO!

We have dinner at Estia 3-5 times per year. It's always excellent in every category. It's pricey but always feels worth it. Last evening we had the halibut and the moussaka... both wonderful. Each serving of moussaka is baked in its own dish, creating lots of delicious edges. The Greek wines are are usually great choices. My glass of agiorgitiko sang with the moussaka. For me, the highlight was a mezze -- the sardines were fresh and scrumptious!

Great meals, service and atmosphere. A very pleasant surprise! Two suggestions: 1. Don’t take deposit for reservations 2. Included tip:Service charge not sure I am a fan. Kind of hides itself in the bill. Don’t add tip line if you already included it at 20%.

Giovanni was great. Knowledgeable on the menu. Attentive to our needs and overall great service.

Never a bad meal at this place! And staff are attentive and informative.
