Nice return to Updown on what might have been a quiet night. Good number of diners in but staff were struggling to keep up. The team did excellently and the food was lovely. The anchovie toast was desperately salty but I guess that's what I signed up for.

The food was really tasty and nicely presented without being fussy. Portion sizes were just right, not too much and not too little, enough to feel replete after three courses. All the staff were helpful and attentive without being overbearing.

I love this stylish venue, situated literally at the edge of the sea. I always request a window table, the better to watch the rise or fall of the tide as I eat (although the clever placement of mirrors around the room allow 'inside' diners to enjoy the view as well.) The staff are unfailingly charming, from the friendly hello to last goodbye. And the food is always interesting and delicious. It's particularly good if you enjoy fish and sea food of course, but there are enough alternative dishes to keep most people happy. There's an extensive wine list, with offerings to suit every budget and taste.

I bought my son for a late birthday meal. We didn't realise the menu at the time we booked was a bru ch menu This is not what we wanted. We spoke to staff who let us choose from the main menu that darted after the brunch menu. The staff were friendly wishing my son happy birthday and shaking our hands when we left. Theu came over to check our meal was ok and to check of we required anything else during our time with the. The chefs were accommodating and the meal was divine. Well worth the money. I woukd highly recommend.
