Excellent service and experience at the Sword Inn Hand for my birthday. The service and food was excellent. The waiters were pretty dishy too 😂

There is no better way to spend a warm summer evening in Harpenden than in Lussman's garden sampling their new summer menu. Full of delicious surprises such as pork collar and organic mutton salad to name but two. Good full plates of food perfectly cooked and extra tasty, we enjoyed sardines salsa verde and aforementioned pork with large hazelnuts in their own dressing with a heap of summer slaw. The side dish of chargrilled hispi cabbage was not sufficiently charred, and was replaced instantly. For dessert there was the fabulously sweet and bitter orange brulee which was rated 10 out of 10, and a Knickerbocker Glory. Ice cream is de rigueur on such a night and what better way to enjoy it than in a large glass with cream and fruit? Shame the spoon was a bit short for the size of the glass, but we managed to get all the contents out with not too many sticky fingers. All round a five star excellent meal.

Brilliant as ever, a great restaurant. The food has raised its game, always was good but yesterday's meal was truly excellent!!!!!

This is a fabulous place! The food is really good. I had I think the best steak onglet ever. The bread is fantastic too. The wine list short but with a nice spread and the service attentive without being fussy. This is a great addition to Mill Lane

Brilliant Set Menu & Flavours That Hit the Mark! We went for the fixed menu at Craft & Cleaver and it didn’t disappoint. For the appetiser, we both chose the Crispy Miso & Ginger Fried Chicken – beautifully cooked with a light crunch and paired perfectly with the Alabama white sauce. Absolutely packed with flavour and a great way to start the meal. For the main, we had the Baby Back Pork Ribs, and they were spot on – sweet, tender, and glazed with their rich house BBQ sauce. The meat practically fell off the bone. Served with smokehouse fries and a zesty lime slaw, it was a proper hearty plate that hit all the right notes. The atmosphere was relaxed yet lively, and the service was friendly and efficient. Our host, Haydn, was super friendly and really added to the experience – even made some great suggestions for dishes to try on our next visit. You can tell the staff genuinely care about the food and the vibe. A fantastic value-for-money option if you’re after a satisfying, flavour-packed meal. We’ll definitely be back!
