Best Restaurants for Late Night Dining in South Loop

I love sitting on the patio outside the Gage…the regular tables were full, as even with a reservation, the patio seating is first come first served…so my friend and I had to sit at a high top table, but it was fine. We each had salads, which were quite delicious….but I did feel tat $25 for a salad with chicken on it was a bit steep…especially so because when I asked for bread, I was told the only way to get any bread was to order a made to order loaf of bread for an additional $9. I found this pretty irksome, actually. It shouldn’t be that hard to get a couple pieces of bread to go with one’s lunch when one is eating at a fancy restaurant that does have bread available. The service was excellent, the server was very attentive, and when I complained about the bread conundrum, he agreed and told me that I was the 3rd customer to ask about this just that day at lunchtime! But there didn’t appear to be anything he could do about it., Seems silly. Other than that, it was a very pleasant experience! BTW,, I’ve eaten at Gibson’s steak house patio on N Rush St many times, and their salads are also excellent and they come with a whole basket of lovely breads, and they cost was actually less.

Tao Chicago is absolutely stunning—the decor alone is worth the visit. The atmosphere is vibrant and immersive, with every detail is thoughtfully designed. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, with bold flavors in every bite. The giant fortune cookie was a fun and tasty highlight to end the meal. Our server was attentive and prompt. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience and a real treat.

Went for happy hour and it was pretty decent! With a selection of of wines, beers and cocktails for $8-$12!!

We sat by the poolside and loved our time in the sun!!

Great food! Great service! Amazing staff! Went there on date night and I was definitely impressed.
