The Seven Stars is a 16th century country inn situated in the heart of Surrey, close to both Dorking and Reigate, with Gatwick airport seven miles away. It has wealth of character which includes a large inglenook fireplace, beamed ceilings, recently renovated gardens and patios along with ample parking.An extension that now forms the main dining area was completed in 1996 and won the British Heritage Development Award for that year.The Seven Stars has a great atmosphere, we have strived to keep it a village pub where friends and locals meet up to wine, dine and and enjoy freshly cooked food, sourced from the local area. This independently-owned café and pizzeria is a place for through trade, local people or those making a bee-line because they’ve heard about its repertoire of pizzas, ice creams and coffees! They come for a breakfast of eggs and Portobello mushrooms, a lasagne lunch or an evening calzone and a bottle of wine or even a milkshake.Community, consistency and inclusion are strong hallmarks of Java & Jazz. It’s also known for its friendly, courteous and energetic young staff - a feature of life here since this well-regarded local venue began life as a small café with a pizza oven in the late 1990s. Back then, it was an informal gathering point for many local youngsters.In August 2024, Steve Ward took over Java and Jazz for those exact reasons, continuing the same ethos and traditions and building on the community aspect of Java, now offering live music every Thursday evening, quiz nights, craft workshops and lots more to come.

    Lovely Sunday lunch in a very traditional pub setting in lovely countryside with lots of outdoor seating too and easy parking. Great friendly service and lovely atmosphere. We will be returning.

    We always enjoy our occasional Sunday lunch at the Well House. With the weather, it was a lot quieter than usual. The service was swift, efficient and friendly as ever. No skimping on staff numbers! Food was good: I had the roast beef, and - as I am not a vegetable lover - was given an extra Yorkshire and roast potatoes without asking for or paying extra for. Three nice thick slices of beef. My mother had the scampi, which she particularly enjoys with the accompanying salad, and as a light eater she took home a doggie-bag of crispy chips. We didn't drink much, so with one pudding and a coffee between us, the bill came in at £56 - good value for a Sunday lunch.
