Sitting on the corner of Hilton and Tariff street in Manchester’s lively Northern Quarter, The Pen and Pencil takes its name and inspiration from the infamous mid-20th Century bar on East 45th Street in New York.Open seven days a week from 10am until late, the restaurant and bar not only offers a variety of beverages including cocktails, beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks, but focuses on its strong day time offering with great breakfast, brunch and lunch options as well as quality coffee and freshly blended smoothies.The Pencil and Pencil has an array of events throughout the month with a resident DJ to get the party started every weekend, a weekly quiz night on a Tuesday, and its sell-out Bottomless Brunches! It also offers a private room for corporate event and celebrations.. Unfortunately, we are unable o serve guests with Coeliacs due to the risk of cross contamination.

THE APPEAL OF DAMON RUNYON, the New York storyteller, newspaperman and sportswriter came from his mastery, but also invention, of 1920s American slang – a mixture of the ‘louche and the lugubrious’ according to the New Yorker magazine. He would go to Lindy’s, an all-night Jewish deli on Broadway that became Mindy’s in his stories, and listen.Runyon married a down-on-her-luck Spanish countess from Madrid, 26 years his younger, who turned out to be an up-on-her-heels Mexican dancer from Tampico. When he died his ashes were taken up in a plane and sprinkled all over New York.

Established since 2003, the Glamorous Restaurant is very much a family-run business. Tommy Hung, an accomplished Chef travelled the Far East to bring over some of the best chefs from East Asia. There are over 300 delicious Cantonese dishes to choose from including vegetarian dishes – and one of the best places to start is the Dim Sum which is prepared on a daily basis by experienced chefs using the best available fresh ingredients.Also known for its Cantonese roast meat specialism using traditional techniques and authentic recipes perfected over decades. The succulent and flavourful roast meats ranging from Roast Duck, Crispy Belly Pork, and Honey Roast Pork served at Glamorous Restaurant make it a standout in the Chinese culinary scene. For drinks, the full bar serves a wide choice of beers, spirits, wines plus champagnes and fine cognacs.

    A great spot with a strong menu, good choice of beers (inc LA) wines and sparkling. Service was attentive and guidance really helpful. Over it all was the high quality food with superb flavours and on point cooking - especially the fish and steak. The vibe is really good - it’s not over flashy but clean and efficient. Top spot

    We booked in as staying in the hotel, we booked for 5.30pm We was sat down efficiently. Waitress and waiter was very helpful with how the menu worked and let us know if there was anything unavailable. Drinks arrived quickly. We ordered some small plates too share, mac and cheese croquet, fish goujons and sticky ribs they where amazing. All freshly prepared. Then for mains we ordered the pork belly noodles, burger, steak and fish and chips again all incredible. Chef came out to speak to us to make sure food was all good, this was great as we was out with parents so they really liked this touch to the service. Had a chat about our evening as we was watching peter kay. Couldn't fault the service or staff and we all really enjoyed the food. We would highley recommend.
