On this return visit, the food and service lived up to our high expectations. The one unexpected aspect was the DJ and very loud music that began at about 8:00pm, making conversation almost impossible. The staff were responsive and moved us to a table in a somewhat quieter alcove. Not sure if the DJ is only present on weekends, but it seems at odds with a fine dining experience, which Alder otherwise is.

Everything was great! Here for a date night and food and drinks were amazing. Love the happy hour menu. Our server Hayden was charming and attentive and had great recommendations. Must try the Nashville chicken skewers! Great new addition to the menu!

Server was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Food tasted great and was reasonably priced, so a good value. Lots of craft beer selections. Big crowd before a TFC game - did not affect their timing at all! This restaurant encompasses all the good qualities of what a resto-pub should be. We were very pleased that our open table reservation was ready when we arrived a few minutes early. I would definitely come back to Fox & John's for their food and service. While I prefer a quieter experience, I must acknowledge that I was there for pre-game dinner myself and was impressed with how the restaurant maintained service levels and food quality with a slammed patio and dining room. We had an excellent experience! We will definitely return. The staff, ambiance, and food were wonderful. We plan to have regular visits for our UofT group outings.
