Opened in 2017. Michelin-recommended since 2022."We first imagined Aloette to be the perfect diner that we’d want to dine in – a menu with a great burger paired with a fantastic and fun wine list, a long row of bar stools facing the bar and the kitchen, and an energetic atmosphere accented with an old school hip hop playlist. The buzz of the dining room mirrors the energy of the street on Spadina Avenue; the dining room itself mimics a train’s dining car. It’s kind-of-a-bistro and kind-of-a-diner with an internationally inspired menu which is representative of the diverse cultures in Toronto.Brunch at Aloette was something we said we’d never do. But the city kept asking and we’re glad to be a new staple in the Queen West neighbourhood for mimosas, chicken and waffles, and piping hot coffees. We had relatively high expectations given the reviews and we were not disappointed. The duck and truffle risotto were excellent as was the calamansi tart. The highlight was the service which was impeccable; attentive, but not intrusive. We will be back.

I’m a big fan of Aloette and usually give it 5 stars—it’s one of the few restaurants in Toronto that truly excites me. I’ve always appreciated how it manages to be creative and unique without ever feeling pretentious or over-the-top. This week, I went for dinner with a friend. While we enjoyed the evening overall, I felt the food didn’t quite meet the high standard I’ve come to expect—especially considering the prices. For example, $10 for two tiny olive skewers (just four olives total) felt outrageous. Similarly, while the burger was good, it was relatively small and came with a small side of fries—$32 for that dish seemed overly expensive. The fried chicken was good. I still consider Aloette a standout spot in the city and hope this was just an off night. I’ll probably return, but I do hope this was just an off night and that the value better reflects the pricing in the future.

I had a great time. I attended after my graduation ceremony, and the staff were charming. They were kind and welcoming, helping us take pictures they even brought out champagne, which was very nice. I would hold another special event here; it truly was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed their meals and drinks. The vibe was also pretty cool.

This is a beautiful hotel, we stayed for two hours and never felt rushed. Our sever was excellent. But I’ve had other high teas that were just better. One of the breads was a bit stale. Wanted to love it, at $78 a person it just wasn’t up to the cost.
