- FfionaVIPSan Francisco Bay Area •1 review5.0Dined 3 days agoOur party came to La Grande Boucherie to celebrate a birthday, and was looking for an upscale fine dining experience. We got exactly that, and our server Tim made the evening incredibly special! A bread basket with warm baguettes was brought out with a lovely soft butter and flaky sea salt. I believe our table ended up having two more bread baskets throughout the meal. Our table of six shared three hors d'oeuvres: escargots, french onion soup, and foie gras. The escargots were delicious, done very classic and served out of the shell. The french onion soup was the crowd favorite. The foie gras was decadent, although the toast it and the escargots came with was a thick soft bread lightly toasted, and we preferred the baguette from the bread basket. For drinks I had the La Touissant cocktail and a Hendricks martini twist. La Touissant was a bright cocktail that was fun and bubbly. It was served in a stemless wine glass. My martini was perfect, and the stemware was stunning! The nicoise was my entree, this was well balanced and a healthy portion size. Others at the table had moules frites, porc diane, bolognese, ribeye, and duck cassoulet. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, although the ribeye came closer to medium than medium rare. After dinner we were deciding on dessert and five of us got Sauternes, and one got Amaro. The wine was lovely, and a great night cap. Tim then brought ice cream and champagne for our table to celebrate the birthday which was incredibly kind and made the birthday girl feel so special. I spoke to Tim as an aside to put my card down so there was no haggling at the end of dinner; he handled it incredibly well and snuck it back to me so no one noticed! The server assistant was also amazing, we were a boisterous table and everyone at La Grande Boucherie made sure we had a spectacular experience and my friend had a marvelous birthday dinner!More infoLa Grande Boucherie - DCPrice: Very Expensive• French• Washington•4.3
