Great drinks. Loved the fried olives. Enjoyed the vibe.

My friends and I celebrated my birthday at Volare Rooftop and overall had a great time. The ambiance was beautiful — we especially loved the sunset and the views, which made for a perfect backdrop. We were seated on the West rooftop, which was quiet and relaxing. However, it would’ve been helpful to know ahead of time that the DJ is typically on the East side. Once we found out, we wished we had been given the option to choose our seating based on the vibe we wanted. The drinks were decent and priced as expected for a rooftop setting. The service was great overall — most of the staff were helpful and accommodating. That said, my first interaction with the hostess felt a bit off. When I arrived, she put her finger up and mouthed “hold on” while she and two other staff members were discussing something unrelated to greeting guests. It came off as a bit dismissive. Food-wise, everything I tried was tasty. I ordered the sweet potato fries and mushroom crostini and had one drink — my total came out to $50. What caught me off guard was an added "service" charge. When we asked about it, we were told it was due to having a large party. I went ahead and still tipped my server 20%, not knowing if the charge was meant to cover gratuity or just a fee for splitting bills among groups. All in all, it was a lovely evening and I’d consider returning — but a little more transparency on seating options and service fees would’ve made it even better.

Though we will miss the original Scalo restaurant for its history and quality happy hour offerings, my husband and I are excited to see what changes will be brought to the location with this rebranding. We celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary here on the patio with some good food and great music with The DCN Project, and we’re glad we did! Great ambiance and decent food. We loved the salmon and avocado tartare, truffle parmesan fries, and the filet was flavorful and tender (though cooked medium instead of medium rare). We’ll be back when they open under a new name and try out some of their new menu options. Hopefully, the atmosphere will be just as suave!

We were surprised at the condition of the restaurant. The furnishings are very tired. The seats in the booth are ripped. The tables in the booths need to be refinished. They are all scratched. The whole internal part of the restaurant needs to be refurbished and remodeled. The food is very good, however we would be embarrassed to take guests there.
