A photo of Bar Vendetta restaurant
4.6
Exceptional(522)
Price: Expensive
• Contemporary Canadian • Little Portugal / Dundas West
Booked 45 times today
Bar Vendetta distinguishes itself in a space that had previously been a fairly iconic restaurant, The Black Hoof, with a beautiful (and imposing) Douglas fir ‘glass canopy’ and a completely different, 70s colour scheme, modelled (very loosely) on Jen's teen basement bedroom in Scarborough. Nothing says 70s like brown, orange and cream! We didn’t want it to scream ‘Italian restaurant’ because frankly it’s only Italian-ish, using the philosophies of Italian cooking with locally available ingredients and a strong devotion to seasonality. Our pastas all made in house, by long-time chef, Annalisa Latavo and our front of house team is simply a dream! The sort of secret treehouse-feeling back patio is hugely popular in the summer, but we think of it as the perfect restaurant for a colder evening, cozy for tucking into a beautiful plate of pasta, with one of your favourite songs playing while you have a very nice Italian red.

Small, hidden and easy to miss, the Bella Vista Trattoria & Wine Bar gives a good dose of flavor in its food, ensuring that diners have a pleasant evening together. The cozy atmosphere in the cafŽ and the outdoor patio seating area give Bella Vista Trattoria & Wine Bar a rather intimate, casual vibe. The menu offers various daily specials and is also full of various Italian dishes that are popular such as the penne arrabbiate, gnocchi Bella Vista, fettuccini Bolognese, risotto and ravioli. There are also pizzas, steaks, salads and anti pasto that offer a mix of modern and contemporary Italian cuisines. The wine bar at the Bella Vista Trattoria & Wine Bar features a tasteful mix of martinis, bourbons, scotch whiskey (blended and single) as well as a small collection of beers too.

Opened in 2017. Michelin-recommended since 2022."We first imagined Aloette to be the perfect diner that we’d want to dine in – a menu with a great burger paired with a fantastic and fun wine list, a long row of bar stools facing the bar and the kitchen, and an energetic atmosphere accented with an old school hip hop playlist. The buzz of the dining room mirrors the energy of the street on Spadina Avenue; the dining room itself mimics a train’s dining car. It’s kind-of-a-bistro and kind-of-a-diner with an internationally inspired menu which is representative of the diverse cultures in Toronto.Brunch at Aloette was something we said we’d never do. But the city kept asking and we’re glad to be a new staple in the Queen West neighbourhood for mimosas, chicken and waffles, and piping hot coffees. Located on the outskirts of Toronto’s vibrant Yorkville neighbourhood, the MIMI story begins with memories of the past. Loud conversation over plates of steaming noodles. The rush of servers moving quickly about in starched white dress shirts and pressed black bow ties. Darkly lit nooks with deep shades of red. The clanking of cutlery as cocktails are shaken swiftly in the background. A fragrant scent of Sichuan peppercorns toasting in the wok. Moments of celebration and togetherness over both new and familiar food. MIMI Chinese offers a place of wonder that brings back a taste of the past.
