- KKarenSan Francisco Bay Area •16 reviews5.0Dined 5 days agoAbsolutely exquisite. You should go before they get their Michelin star, will be hard to get reservations after that. This is not the typical California beachfront restaurant. It does have a terrific view and it is located on the edge of the ocean but everything else was so far above typical. There were four of us and we share so we tasted probably a third or more of the dinner menu. This chef knows how to treat fresh ingredients and layer flavors. While everything we tasted was so far above the average excellent restaurant, our favorite dishes last night were (in order of starters to mains): - * the Crudo, which melts in your mouth and is deliciously flavorful, - the persimmon butter and focaccia toast - the Wagyu Polish sausage (yes, I do not normally eat sausage and haven't in years, but this is homemade and so delicious, especially with the mustard sauce they make). -* the Porcini Agnolotti, wonderful layered rich comforting homemade deliciousness and the favorite of several of us along with the Crudo - the striped bass, which is a favorite of the only one of us that had been here before. Aside from the exquisite food, the restaurant decor is clean and comfortable, the staff is friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, efficient and not intrusive. The chef came out from the kitchen a few times to check on and talk with diners, it was obvious they all loved what they do, which is also unusual in restaurants these days. We would make Pete's Capitola the excuse to drive to Santa Cruz from the Bay Area again, as much as possible! You really really should go. It's unusual for a beachfront town like Capitola.More infoPete's CapitolaPrice: Expensive• Californian• Capitola•4.5
