The Royal is operated by James Hickson, who has a solid hospitality background having learned his trade at well-loved restaurants and gastropubs including St John, Great Queen Street, The Canton Arms and Moro. The Two Sawyers is a 16th Century Inn recently refurbished and under family ownership. We pride ourselves on serving excellent beer and food. We have a large beer garden to the rear of the pub with over 30 tables for our guests to use for both drinking and dining. A character bar with log fires serving guest ales, beers, and wines. We are a country Gastropub owned by farmers. Our farm supplies the beef, lamb and pork and we source other ingredients from local producers where we can. Our small seasonal menu changes regularly reflecting what is available in our area. We pride ourselves on being very much a country pub, offering freshly prepared seasonal food and a warm welcome. We also love offering locally produced drinks, such as gins, rums, ales and wines, giving you the complete taste of Sussex.

Very quiet. We were a table of 4, there was a table of 2 when we arrived who were finishing up. Sat by the garden doors, food was very good and server was excellent. Quite pricy but thoroughly enjoyed.

We ate at the Two Sawyers for our 41st Anniversary with a party of 6. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. Our servers were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The service was prompt, food hot and a lovely atmosphere.

Steak to share was a wonderful experience and found no fault in the side dishes which were also plenty to share for two. Service was spot on as well as the wine available with a wonderful range of English wines. One of the finer restaurants in Rye…. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
