The Woodsman remains the best restaurant in Stratford. We have never had a poor dish or less than excellent wines. Sunday lunch is a special treat. We shared the slow-cooked lamb - it's brined for 24 hours before being slow -cooked for 12 or so before being finished off in the wood-fired oven. It fell off the bone and melted in the mouth. Cliches, perhaps, but accurate. Vegetables are good, though I think I make better roast potatoes! Service is quietly efficient and cheerful - Tatiana is delightful. Greg Newman, the executive chef, is a culinary superstar.

Hi the food was very tasty and generous portions, we had Sunday lunch and our server came round and offered extra Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes which was a nice touch.

What a wonderful decision to stay and eat in! The food and service was as good as expected, and we met a couple of lovely guests seated next to us too!
