   I brought some visiting family here, it was a fun treat. We all like to cook and enjoyed getting some ideas for how to create interesting dishes from our neal. The portions were generous, too. Our waiter was very attentive without being annoying, which is a fine line to walk. Overall just a very nice experience.

   Creative menu, well prepared food, great service. We had read about this restaurant and were most eager to give it try -- it was worth it!

   This was our first visit and we absolutely loved the food. The service and ambiance were great too. We’ll definitely be back!

   Friends visiting from northern Virginia were visiting and wanted to dine at The Fat Canary. We made reservations way in advance. Everything was perfect. Drinks, wine, service, appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts! A real treat for all four of us.

   We've been here many times before but this one was disappointing. Extremely loud, very slow service, overcooked meat. This is our special occasion restaurant (as it was this time for our anniversary) and it just didn't live up to past occasions on all fronts. We were going to go with some friends later this month but may find another choice.

   Service was slow to start. The hostess got our drink order since she realized we were still waiting. Martinis were requested dry and dirty. They were slightly dirty but not at all dry. Appetizers were delicious after waiting a long time to get them.. Beef tenderloin was fatty and gristly. We have bought better tenderloin from Harris Teeter. When I made the reservation I mentioned the occasion was a birthday and I sent a message to the restaurant that it was my husband’s birthday. Not one person made mention of it.

   We had heard so much about this restaurant, including that it was difficult to get into, but because we like an early "linner" we had no problem getting a 5:15 reservation. Fat Canary lived up to its hype. The food was unbelievably good, from soup to dessert and coffee. Pricey, yes, especially if cocktails are part of your dining experience, but memorable and well worth it.

    Best halibut dish I’ve ever had! We eat here every time we are in Williamsburg. Outstanding food!
