   Always love dining at Fairview. Sat outdoors which is beautiful. Food is always excellent esp dessert! Service is top notch always too!

   The appetizer, salad and dessert were all very good. All the entrees were very mediocre and not a foodie recommendation. The setting was really beautiful.

   As at my previous meals here, the dining experience was ver enjoyable and conducive to good conversation. The bottle of Sancerre went we nicely withe scallops dish we both opted for. The only complaint was that the risotto was not creamy as it should be. Instead it was to dry and al dente for our taste. Apart from that the meal and setting and conversation were very satisfying.

    I had the pastrami sandwich for the first time and highly recommend it. I chose a salad for my side and the two combined for a good amount of food. I took half the sandwich home.

    Although the food was very good, my group of four asked if we could be seated at a booth instead of a table. The reason for this request was that the chairs were extremely low for the table. Our request was denied because our server was told by your front desk, that the booth was reserved. We were accomodated, however, with cushions for our chairs. However, the booth was never occupied during our time there. We feel that your staff was not forthcoming with the truth about the booth. Also, there were at least two booths that could have accomodated our group. Perhaps you can give me an explanation about this.

    We went for the Valentine's Day prix fixe menu advertised on Open Table and were disappointed to learn that all that was available was the Game Day menu (there was a Duke game that evening). Although what we ordered was good, the menu seemed more suited to a 1970s country club than a modern restaurant--rather uninspired.

    I would have preferred to be seated a little further away from other guests. We were seated in a cluster of filled tables and give the COVID concerns, having a little more space would have literally provided some breathing room.

    Beautiful restaurant with lovely ambience. Definitely what I call a fine dining experience. Go there whenever I am in Durham. Very good value for money, attentive service and reasonable food.

    The Fairview Dining Room is one of the most elegant and delicious places to dine we have ever enjoyed. We joined up with dear friends to celebrate my 74th birthday on Monday night. We all had different entrees and raved about how good everything was throughout the meal. Our server, Jasmine, was so sweet, charming and expert in taking care of us. She really got engaged with the birthday party vibe, and we enjoyed several fun exchanges of delightful conversation with her. Because all the servers support each other, we had the chance to meet the rest of the serving crew who were all equally charming and helpful to Jasmine and to us. We call the Washington Duke Inn our "happy place" and visit often from our home in Williamsburg, VA. Can't wait to return. Steve & Margie

    Seats were uncomfortably low. Requested cushions and they were provided and that helped. Our waiter Mike was great! Maybe best of our waitpeople at WaDu. His experience and personality came through. Not a big problem but they did not have Whisper Pig or Elijah Craig Bourbon.

    A pretty perfect dining experience! We had a party of four for brunch, and everyone loved their food selections. Very attentive waiter, and the ambiance was wonderful with the soothing piano music. We will definitely return.

    This was to celebrate our grand daughter’s White Coat Ceremony at the Duke PA School. Everyone in the party thought it was amazing. I just made another reservation in Feb to celebrate our granddaughter’s 25th birthday.

    We have been attending NYE for several years now. The restaurant is beautiful, the decor was great, loved the live music. The wait staff were outstanding. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the food. Appetizers had obviously been sitting and were not freshly prepared (we had a 7:00pm slot), the main course was lukewarm, steak a bit overdone, dessert was ok. It felt like food had been sitting on warmers. Not the serving that we have come to love. We hope that things are handled differently in the future.

    Christmas in the Fairview dining room was a delicious and special experience. Everything was perfect …the service, the holiday touches and the extensive prix fixe made everyone at our table happy. We thought the price per person was in line with the quality and experience. The complimentary cinnamon rolls* for the morning was a nice and tasty treat. * Note to the restaurant: Have you considered leaving off the red and green icing sugar? It’s an unnecessary festive touch and in the morning the cinnamon buns look a bit like a ghastly crime scene. Besides, they are so delicious with out the distraction of extra color and sugar!

    Went there for Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. Have been there many non-holiday visits, but this was the first time for Christmas. They really outshined here, the food, live piano music, services, fixed price menu selections and champagne to start were all top notch. Can't say enough, it was a very memorable experience, and we'll be back!
