   Freddie our waiter was great. He let us enjoy our meal without too much interaction. Just when I was thinking about something. he would appear, ready to produce whatever I needed.

   It is a classic . Traditional setting - and the wait staff were friendly- but not very attentive. We asked for more bread 3 times and did not get it - between our appetizer and main course took 45 minutes. Fortunately we were having an amazing celebration together so didn’t let it impact that. But disappointed at the lack of excellent service that we have had in years past

   Early dinner before theatre, 3 adults dining, we shared an artisan cheese board appetizer, 2 chicken and 1 grilled salmon entrees, desserts and coffee. Everything was delicious, well prepared and spot on with portion size. I didn't care for the black garbanzo with the grilled salmon, but that is personal choice. The only complaint I would have would be the crackers with the cheese board; only 1 selection of crackers and they were hard enough to crack teeth.Our waitress was attentive and we didn't feel rushed to complete our meal. Good selection of wines by the glass. My favorite dish was the Gianduja chocolate tart, the mango-passionfruit sorbet was the best sorbet I have ever tasted. Would we go back? Definitely.

    Great service, however one of the entrees had to be returned as it was overcooked. There were no issues in doing this but still a disappointment.All other dishes were very good.

    Excellent food good portion sizes. Attentive and professional service. Whatever you do do not sit by the office door it will be a non-stop open and closing in and out experience that will ruin the ambience.

    A lovely experience from our seating through our departure. Duck confit was delicious, filet done to perfection, sides, wines etal. The raspberry mousse soufflé is wonderfully light yet decadent.

    Always have a great experience here. The food is superb. Great outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Friendly white stuff. Would like to have drinks refilled a bit more without having to ask but overall a great dinner!

    The Fairview is always reliable. Food is good, service fair. For some reason the chef materially changed the shrimp and grits but it was still good (though I definitely prefer the previous iteration). Evening was outside in lovely weather with good friends - so overall very positive.

    this meal was not up to the standard i’ve previously enjoyed at fairview. my $48 filet mignon was barely seasoned and unevenly cooked - despite being fairly uniform in thickness. i bill ordered med rare but only about half the steak was that temperature. the rest ranged from medium to medium well. normally i would send such a rookie mistake back, but we were going to a show after and the slower service speed made that seem like a losing proposition if we wanted to be on time. the sautéed asparagus was cooked nicely but their cooks need to be retaught how to properly trim the woody ends off. another rookie mistake i wouldn’t expect from even a mid-range restaurant. my wife and her friend ordered the scallops and duck confit, respectively, and they both enjoyed them.

    This is the nicest restaurant in Durham. The food and service are excellent. The ambiance is good, but you may clearly hear the conversations of those at nearby tables. The chairs are lovely and comfortable.

    As at my previous meals here, the dining experience was ver enjoyable and conducive to good conversation. The bottle of Sancerre went we nicely withe scallops dish we both opted for. The only complaint was that the risotto was not creamy as it should be. Instead it was to dry and al dente for our taste. Apart from that the meal and setting and conversation were very satisfying.
