This was a repeat visit for me. As always great service, delicious food and an elegant atmosphere in which to dine with friends. The hostess went out of her way to assure all my guests were comfortable by providing pillows for the shorter guests! I will definitely dine here again when I return to Durham,
My first time and it won’t be my last. My Niece and I had a fabulous dinner. Nathaniel, our waiter was just great!
Always a treat, food, service, ambience. The early fix price 3 course dinner is to be a standard for discriminating locals. Sunday brunch is super.
I took a friend to the Fairview Dining Room to celebrate some recent good news and we had a fabulous time! Our waitress, Elizabeth, was delightful and attentive. The food was delicious. The view of the golf course was beautiful. Overall it was a wonderful experience.
The food was not good at all. My guest was equally unimpressed. We ordered the french toast which was overfried and the mushroom omelette which was more like a mushroom with a side of egg.
Dinner was delicious but it was the service, provided by Nathaniel, that set the experience apart.
Wonderful atmosphere and pretty good service, but the food and presentation was not up to expectations. Steak was cooked medium, but barely warm when it arrived. Even the mashed potatoes lacked flavor. Despite the nice atmosphere, neither of us was interested in returning.
We went here for our anniversary. Both the duck and the salmon were excellent! It's reliable for a special meal. :-)
Great dining for a special occasion!! Food and service were excellant. We would recommend the Fairview Ding Room to any and all!!
I took my husband to the Fairview for his birthday and as always it proved to be the best choice. The food was delicious and the staff attentive and courteous. we;ll be back next birthday, that would be mine! Can't wait!
What a phenomenal dining experience. Fabulous food, amazing service and incredible ambiance. What a treat! We celebrated three back to back birthdays this same time last year and had such an outstanding experience we decided to return again this year.... of course, Washington Duke is always on point- top notch experience!
Three couples celebrating anniversaries and birthdays. Service was truly great. All food was served to all six at same time. Water and coffee were kept full. Great menu selection. We were not at all rushed, spending 2 1/2 hrs visiting over the food.
Elegant dining room with an exceptional view and a very creative menu!
Service was excellent, food was like a work of art!
We went for a late lunch, my wife had chicken salad and I had the crab cakes. The food was unbelievable!
Elegant and delicious. service a bit slow but still a wonderful experience
Excellent meal with a great atmosphere.
Great for conversation with wonderful food.
We enjoyed the dinner and atmosphere. The food was delicious and the service was excellent!
Our server was phenomenal and when advised our grits were cold, he comped off drinks. A nice touch.
We had a wonderful lunch. Staff was very attentive without being overbearing. We definitely will return.
Perfect for the vegetarians and carnivores in our family
Always our spot for special occasions
Food inventive and delicious
The Waduke Shrimp, corn, bacon chowder is simply amazing. The fish my husband order was lovely. My spinach salad was good. Our waiter was always at hand if needed. The mixed drinks before dinner were perfection. We always have a great time at your wonderful restaurant and Inn.
Dined here during Triangle Restaurant week - outstanding service and food ; the decor is in need of a face lift so ambiance feels like 1990s
Would recommend to anyone who wants a fine dining experience with creative menu and superb service
Enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant and the food was delicious.
Excellent meal with fabulous service! The atmosphere was topnotch, elegant yet homey. The filet was expertly cooked and tender. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
Excellent service and food. The staff is very attentive and the food is nicely presented.
We went for Triangle Restaurant Week. The food was great! The service was outstanding. Highly recommended for a special occasion!
Our meals were lovely. Everyone was very pleased. Only subtle problem was the ambient noise around our table -- partially due to the piano playing and partially due to couple speaking loudly at next table. Our waiter was fair/average -- but not nearly as effusive and friendly as the one we had on Thursday, This one seemed disinterested -- just doing his routine, taking our orders, helping deliver the plates. He offered no recommendations or comments about the menu. I'd specified one check (to be given to me), yet he asked "do you want separate checks?"
First time visit. The menu had excellent choices. I had the crab cakes and they were great. My wife had the salmon and thought it was excellent. Excellent service in a great environment.
Excellent ambiance and food. You will feel special and your palate also will be pleased. Great for a special occasion or to treat yourself and friends well.
Delightfully accommodating hostess, Brandi.
Gracious server, Daniel.
I’m so glad I live in Durham to enjoy the Washington Duke often.
The ambiance was really nice, but the food was subpar. We ordered fried oysters as a starter and there were shell pieces inside the batter. The steak wasn't too bad, but the portion was about the size of a small fist and the frites looked like cheap potato strings on top of it. Dessert was bite sized and included a chocolate coconut "sushi" roll, a panacotta, and a small piece of cheesecake. The panacotta was good, but everything else was forgettable. It's not a bad place, but it's definitely not worth the price. Service was good though.
We went on a restaurant week night and had a very good dinner for $35. The oysters on spinach starter was excellent, the best part of the meal. The halibut was good, but the fish was a bit dry, perhaps having been cooked too long. The accompaniments of the fish were very tasty. The dessert sampler was fun and good.
Love this restaurant. Great food and service . A little pricey
Lovely atmosphere, great service and food.
Loved the take out cookies for dessert!
Great food and reasonably good for conversations in a group of 4-6. Some of us went for the 3 course menu which was really good with a great sweet ending. Service was rather on the poorer side, but that could be just the waiter we got that night (was generally hard to communicate to/make him listen -- appeared way busy than what could be explained by the crowd level).
Great food and wine as always
We are from NY and were visiting Durham. We loved the Fairview Dining Room!! The decor, service, and food were amazing! We are planning another visit real soon.
Excellent place to eat. Food is excellent, service beyond expectations, comfortable seating
The service was impeccable, the food outstanding, and the ambience quiet and refined. We will definitely return!
