We are from NY and were visiting Durham. We loved the Fairview Dining Room!! The decor, service, and food were amazing! We are planning another visit real soon.
Excellent place to eat. Food is excellent, service beyond expectations, comfortable seating
The service was impeccable, the food outstanding, and the ambience quiet and refined. We will definitely return!
We attended two prefixed menu events and selected four different choices from the menu.
Simply put the quality and the preparation of the food was disappointing. We dine often
in the Raleigh , NC area and we do not believe this restaraunt is competitive.
Beautiful and memorable New Year’s Eve dinner. Pianist was excellent.
Very professional and friendly. Great fine dining restaurant.
We absolutely loved our meal from start to finish and will go back again soon!
Fine dining at its best!
Loved the chefs tasting bite- wished it was bigger. Crab cakes amazing (and I’ve had a lot of crab cakes). Piano player quietly nice. Drinks pricey.
We have chosen this restaurant for our wedding anniversary brunch, which also happens to be on Christmas eve, for the past 3 years. The food, ambiance and service have all been consistently high and contributed to our enjoyment of this occasion. Highly recommended.
Server was very accommodating
Took a dear friend here for Christmas brunch
I wanted the experience to be special and was it ever. The food was out of sight. The desserts were just out of this world! You can't find enough good words to describe the experience. The service was perfect; every need was met.And the piano player was really great__"icing on the cake ". I highly recommend this place.
A great place for a Christmas lunch with dear friends. The Washington Duke Inn and Fairview Dining Room were festive with lots of trees and sparkle. Our waiter, William, was outstanding. The food was very yummy!!
LovelyChristmas decorations. Nice menu and service was excellent.
Consistently very good food. Service was a bit uncoordinated, but attentive.
Seasonal atmosphere and ambiance. Rack of lamb, outstanding. The grilled chicken and grilled salmon dishes were disappointing. Each plopped onto a mound of mashed potatoes. No garnish or vegetable. Totally lacked the "wow" factor. Could do the same at home.
My sister and I have been celebrating our birthdays here for the last 13 years. This year only 1 birthday dessert per table??? Really??? We both have December birthdays - check IDs if you think someone is not truthful. I was truly disappointed. My meal alone was $25. Our table of 4 was over $100.
We ordered four appetizers for six people at our office Christmas lunch. They were brought to us with no serving pieces and no plates so we had to pass them around and put them on our bread plates. Then they were never cleared from the table. None of us enjoyed our meal. I had the risotto which was so bland I salted it three times to try to add some flavor. The mushrooms were so rubbery I could not cut them with a knife. We live about 3 miles from the Washington Duke but we had not eaten there in over four years because our last meal was so bad. Sorry to say it has not improved. Won't be going back anytime soon.
The food was decent but not what you would expect at a high end restaurant. It is what you would expect from a hotel restaurant which is over priced decent food. The service was terrible. Our server seemed more interested in watching the game and talking to the hostess. I don't think I have ever been to a restaurant where I wasn't asked if I would like another drink. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
VERY disappointing experience! Will not be going there again.
The restaurant is upscale and extraordinarily nice and a great place to bring clients; however, the game day menu is very limited and should be enhanced. Also, service can be slow at times, even when the restaurant is not crowded.
Ambiance excellent, food was very good. Service was really odd. Server was taking our order, and unexpectedly stopped, left table, then came back a few minutes later. I’ve dined out at nice restaurants for decades and have never had a server leave table in middle of taking an order.
Such a fun meal! Each person gets a brunch appetizer, main entree, and a dessert from the dessert buffet. We had a 5yo and 1 yo with us and they were welcome and the experience was great.
The Chairs were too low, soft and uncomfortable. We had to get pillows to sit on in order to get the table height at a comfortable height.
We went for our anniversary and were very pleased with the great service, delicious food and and beautiful ambiance.
Repeat of outstanding performance across the board. Elegant but still fun.
We definitely enjoyed brunch and the mimosas... and bloody Mary’s... the food was good, nothing over the top but definitely good. The vanilla yogurt parfait with fresh fruit was flavorful. The chicken and waffles were somewhat bland, but the spiced apple pancakes were cooked to perfection, crispy on the edges, fluffy and golden everywhere else. The coffee was ok, but rarely got refilled. The Black Forest dessert was super yummy and not overly sweet, more traditional. The cheesecake was perfect but definitely rich. Overall a great stop before seeing Hamilton at the DPAC.
We were part of five ages 35 to 86. The restaurant was welcoming elegant without being stuffy and delicious food. Wait staff was genuinely interested in making perfect evenings fun cocktails and huge wine list
Three of our party had the special which was lovely combination of sea food and steak
Sides are delicious and huge-we ordered as appetizers
Staff kept water glasses and breadbasket full
Always a treat. At least quarterly seasonal changes -we never get tired
I’m here from Memphis, TN and had hip surgery at Duke 6-weeks ago with Dr. Steven Olsen, and PT at PepsiCo with Chris Antionlelli. My best friend and I tried to stay at the Washington Duke hotel but they were booked, so we decided to dine there at the very least. We have eaten at almost every restaurant in Durham and this restaurant exceeds them all in every category.
Sublime is the only word that describes dinner last night. This is one of my favorite restaurants on the planet. Highly recommended
This was a great find--we were not aware of the "Dine at Dusk", but since we dined at 6 PM, the prix fixe menu was superb, and it had different options that we both really loved. Every item was perfect, and it ended up being an excellent bargain to boot. Fabulous, will return for sure!!
For the first time in several visits, I found the meal a bit too heavily salted.
It’s so nice to be greeted by name when you arrive — attention to small details like this added to the really wonderful food make dining here a special occasion.
Our first visit there and we were very impressed! Great service, delicious food and fairly priced. I’d encourage any visitor to the Durham area to enjoy this fine restaurant and hotel!
Breakfast buffet was very average and our server was not attentive and no smiles on her face. She did not make us feel welcome. Will not return for Sunday brunch again.
Our 25th Wedding Anniversary... everything was perfect.
Food was Ah-maaazing!
I had the shrimp and grits and the wife had the chicken and waffles.
Paired with some Bellini's, it was a wonderful Sunday brunch experience.
Our waiter was very attentive and even catered to our little toddler as well.
Will be back again!
Servers were exceptional, professional and engaging in a way that made us feel welcome and want to return again and again
Dined here for a special occasion and everything was perfect. The table was overlooking the gold course, and the cuisine, wine list & service were top notch. Will definately come back for dinner or Sunday brunch. Well done!!
