Servers were exceptional, professional and engaging in a way that made us feel welcome and want to return again and again
Dined here for a special occasion and everything was perfect. The table was overlooking the gold course, and the cuisine, wine list & service were top notch. Will definately come back for dinner or Sunday brunch. Well done!!
Overall it was a great experience. Service could be a little be more better.
Beautiful setting, great service and food
Service was incredibly slow. The food was good but overpriced. It was also very noisy so we could not have a relaxing dinner which was the main reason for going there.
Honestly, by far best restaurant in Durham, hands down
Had wonderful birthday celebration. Very accommodating wait staff. Delicious food (heirloom tomatoes, moroccan swordfish)
Server suggested great to complement everyone's tastes. Always a favorite place
Service was slow evan though the restaurant was not busy. Food was good.
This is a lovely restaurant. The service and food are excellent. Germaine did a great job taking care of us-very professional and courteous. My husband’s filet was perfectly cooked and the crab cakes are delicious. Highly recommend.
Fine dining at its finest. Waitstaff is excellent. Food delicious; ambience upscale. A comfortable dining experience. A perfect complement to the hotel accommodations.
The Fairview is always reliable. The food is very good, ambiance quiet, service good (but not great - service in hotel bar is much better). This was a business dinner so we appreciated the quiet table and privacy.
Fairview always has great food and impeccable service. They treat you like royalty. The setting on the outdoor deck cannot be rivaled. Highly recommend.
Service was not up to usual standard. Seemed like a lot of new employees. Some training still needed.
Wonderful flavors and presentation which are top of the line and healthy to eat as well. Excellent, appropriately friendly service. Uplifting surroundings. Loved the chef's creativity overall and having two unique, out-of-this-world-delicious gluten-free dessert creations was sublime!
This was an unexpected gem. Have lived in the area for years, and had not been. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and service. Food was also exceptional. My only feedback, was that there were a lot of seated tables near each other, when they could have spread the tables out more, so the noise factor was mitigated.
Excellent food and service...we ate breakfast, brunch and dinner there this weekend at the Washington Duke Inn during our “Great Escapes” package & everything was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant and eat on the veranda if you can!
It was lovely as always. The ambience, service and the menu were superb.
Room was on the dark side and we sat next to a noisy table. Entrees were a bit over cooked but service was fine
Everything from the initial greeting to the service experience and food was perfect! Definitely recommend for a special occasion or just a date night!
Great meal, as allows. The wait staff is attentive, but not intrusive. The music is fairly quiet, so you can have a conversation. Food is excellent. Never feel rushed there.
The perfect place to celebrate a very special occasion. The staff did a wonderful job of accommodating our friend with special dietary restrictions as well as mobility issues. I had the steakhouse salad which was outstanding! It was Triangle Restaurant Week, so the value on those specials was definitely five stars!
The Fairview was very nice. We went there for Triangle Restaurant Week and what we ate was very good, but nothing special really. It is a beautiful place, though, and the service was great. We are looking forward to going back there for Sunday brunch one day! The beer recommendation was great also!
Fantastic meal and service this restaurant will be our special place. Definitely will come back for birthdays and anniversaries and just when you want a great meal was fantastic service
Probably the best dining experience I’ve had in Durham.
Very attentive wait staff, delicious food and surprise birthday dessert for my guest. Lovely experience overall. Fairview never disappoints.
Visited for Triangle Restaurant Week lunch as was not disappointed. Service is always exceptional, the meal was delicious, produce was extremely fresh, and the box of cookies for dessert is an extra treat. Always a nice dining experience.
Service was glacial. I am fine with slow service, ala Europe, but this was exceptionally slow. Two entrees were overcooked. The wine prices were extremely high.
The amuse-bouche was excellent and the deserts good (aside from serving bananas with chocolate cake.
The building is lovely (aside from freezing AC in the corridors) and the seats comfortable.
My chicken and waffle came out completely cold. My first bite into the chicken was met with a nearly ice cold center. It was as if they made chicken early that morning, and then maybe warmed it for each order. The waffle was dry, and cold - so cold the butter did not melt. The Umstead was so much better - ambiance, less pretentious and more welcoming to minorities.
Restaurant was not crowded but understaffed and very slow service. Very limited vegetarian options.
We had a lovely dinner celebrating our anniversary! Food and service were exceptional as always.
The outdoor/patio seating at the Fairview on a lovely Spring evening is quite spectacular! The service is always impeccable and the food delicious.
Have often enjoyed dining in the bar, room service, or the Fairview at Washington Duke. Mothers Day/post Commencement dinner was horrible. Service was non existent probably because service was included in the bill --18 percent. Brought our appetizers (soup) while we were still eating the amuse bouche. These appetizers came out almost as same time as Amuse. Barely a moment to try the amuse when plunk, they put soup on table and left. Then the amuse bouche glasses and welcome champagne glasses stayed on table for all 6 of us throughout dinner! The dirty empty dishes/glasses I had to ask to be removed many times. Finally I got up, gathered the 6 empty champagne glasses and dishes from the Amuse and stacked them at my place so they had to remove them.
Food was just ok, fillet mignon very dry.
Given Zero service and marginal food and forced 18 percent tip it was kind of a crappy Mother's Day/post commencement rip off. Sad.
Everything was excellent!
Service and food at Fairview is always top notch. Will continue to be regular visitors, typically for special occasions or when friends come to town.
Typical hotel restaurant in food quality. Basically mediocre. Appetizer was ok but the items did not speak to each other. The salad was over dressed but arranged in a pretty fashion. The salmon was excellent but the risotto was cooked by an American. Our waitress was great and the food adequate.
We enjoyed an outstanding "Dinner at Dusk" 3 course special with friends. Everything exceptional except one item, the crab cake was not quite up to par. Exceptional service! "Dinner at Dusk" is truly a bargain. We would return anytime, especially for a special occasion!
Great food, great ambiance, as usual! Brunch is fantastic!
Wonderful atmosphere, excellent lunch menu. Upscale dining room.
Was a comfortable dining experience. We enjoyed the food that was prepared creatively.
Great, friendly service and very good food. Had breakfast and lunch and would rate same for both.
