Expect simplistically-beautiful composed dishes perfect for sharing, flavorful cheeses and charcuterie, incredible Spanish wines, and rich mahogany woodwork.
We’re proud to represent and support our local family farmers and producers. With a blend of Spanish-imported and Wisconsin-grown ingredients, the cultural and regional merging at Estrellón is a dining experience that is uniquely Madison.
The food and service were excellent. Brendan was our server and was both professional and attentive. The food was very much on point.
Excellent as always! Great service from the staff. Friendly atmosphere and amazing food.
As always we had a fantastic time. We tried some of the new food items and were delighted with all of them. The papatas bravas makes the meal complete!
Estrellon was the best choice we made this month. What an incredible experience. Delish food, great service, and perfect ambiance.
If I could rate it higher than 5, I would. The paella was the best we’ve ever had. And an Italian friend, a foodie and world traveler, has proclaimed their Basque cake to be the best dessert that she has ever eaten anywhere in the world. We are in agreement. It’s the perfect combination of contrasts—soft and firm, warm and cold, tart and sweet, and delicious! Our waiter, Andy, was a professional. Don’t miss a chance to dine at this exceptional restaurant.
This was our anniversary dinner. We were so looking forward to it. I think we planned it last year at this time. I understand that COVID changed everything. We did miss tapas - that was the only reason we went to Estrellon - for the famous tapas. We ordered jamon iberica - basically Spanish ham which was fine. Then we thought we'd split a Valenciana paella - it took 1.20 minutes for the paella! Thank goodness the wine was great. The paella was 80% rice and it was super salty. The salt killed all the flavor of saffron. Clams were tiny and there were only about 4 pieces of shrimp. Well, we are not going back to Estrellon until the tapas are back.
Best restaurant in Madison. Social distancing was careful, and attentive. Paella is fantastic, service was careful but unstuffy, and the sommelier was very helpful. Have never failed to have a spectacular meal here!
Always a special treat with great menu variety. The food is top quality; wonderful flavor and engaging preparation. Totally recommend going on a Saturday for the prime rib - so good!
The food was amazing!! Everything qe ordered was prepared and served at the highest quality. There is something pretty awesome knowing that as much of your meal as possible was sourced locally, even as fresh as that morning's farmers market. The service was a touch slow, but im assuming they are light on staff to accommodate the lower numbers of customers due to covid. All covid precautions were followed strictly, masks, gloves on staff, separate entrance and exit, all felt very safe.
Amazing Paella---every dish was wonderful--a really special place
The food was outstanding and the service was fantastic. Very quiet on this Thursday night, so hopefully more people get out. Highly recommend this spot!!
Everything was beyond incredible, my only request/ recommendation would be to add the dinner for 2 deal back onto your menu! I value your consideration of limiting shared plates but I can’t wait to visit again when this option is offered.
For our anniversary meal - our first meal out since the lockdown started - Estrellon was perfect. The food was exceptional, the COVID precautions reassuring and the ambiance quiet (we ate early and were the only diners for an hour or so). Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Probably the best flavors in food I have ever tasted in my life! We recently moved here from Chicago and loved Cafe Ba Ba Reeba and thought nothing would ever top that, but we were wrong! Estrellon was amazing!
Good was very good. Plenty of options. Wine list good. Pricey
our server was FANTASTIC.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Outstanding service. Chef was very kind and food was delicious. Totally worth it.
We had a delightful time dining at Estrellon. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and cheerful from the moment we walked in the door. We felt taken care of, yet had enough privacy for an intimate dinner. Highly recommend!
Great food and service. Will definitely come back. Everything was delicious and the ambiance of the place was peaceful and calm.
This was an outstanding experience on every level. No question we will become regulars at this restaurant.
Celebrated 10 years married during Covid. Food was great. Enjoyed the menu offering a few more large plates. Server was fantastic.
Estrellon restaurant delivers an amazing atmosphere and food that delivers a flavor filled punch. Being a young adult it isn’t always possible for me to afford high quality food like that found at Estrellon. Eating like a king is often a treat for me and I would be more than happy to do it again at Estrellon. Incredible experience.
Friendly, inviting, bright and open. Food was excellent and the staff was knowledgeable.
This was a great experience. Yes, Estrellon is about the experience. The food was also delicious. Our dinner lasted 2 1/2 hours and the staff is constantly bringing you food. The timing and order of each new dish was perfect. Highly recommend the taste for two menu for first timers. It’s expensive but we knew that going in but again consider that your entire night was a fabulous food and drink experience we felt it was well worth the price. We will be back. Great atmosphere, service, and fun. We were a group of 4, two adults and two adult teens.
This is my favorite restaurant in Madison! Every dish better than the next and their cocktail and wine list is amazing, try the new Barcelona G&T and you won't be disappointed. The paella is a standout and the Basque cake is the best dessert I've ever had.
The food and service were outstanding as usual. There a few things we always get, the patatas bravas, deviled eggs, but we are always excited to try some of the new dishes as well. The butternut squash dish was our favorite of the night, followed closely by the vegetarian paella. The staff is attentive, with many remembering us from our last visit a month ago. Looking forward to going back. It’s become our new standard date night downtown restaurant.
We enjoyed our evening of dining after a show at the Overture Center. It was within walking distance so it was convenient to get to. We arrived before our reservations, but were sat and attended to immediately. Our server was very pleasant and knowledgeable. He had good recommendations for both food and wine. The selection of small plates was excellent and I appreciated the alternate menu for vegetarian options. Our food came out well staggered and nothing was rushed. It was a bit on the expensive side, but then again we had each chosen 2 or 3 items plus wine and dessert. I still felt it was a good value for the dining experience we received and we will definitely return.
I think this restaurant is overpriced. I have expected a little more from this restaurant. The food was just OK.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Madison. The food is so good, and unlike anything you'll find elsewhere. The Spanish wine selection is excellent, too.
The best thing about our dinner during this visit (we have dined at Estrellon many times) was our exceptional waiter (he has waited on us before). The best thing on the menu was the bread and butter. The second best was the deviled eggs though during this visit they were mushier than in the past. One plate ordered was two pieces of chicken. The white meat was very thin, small, and dry. The dark meat was larger but almost all bone with almost no meat that could be cut off. If Estrellon expects diners to pick up the bone to chew the meat off perhaps they should provide bibs and finger bowls. Another plate ordered was scallops. They are smaller at at every visit. with this the smallest yet. Any smaller and they could be served on a demi-saucer. Blackened does not mean burnt and these. Writing of burnt brings us to the Paella. While as tasty as in the past, the bottom is expected to be charred making scraping possible. This time it was burnt making scraping fruitless and it tasting burned food is never pleasant. We've never objected to the prices at Estrellon. Perhaps we should if the food continues to deteriorate as it has over the months/years. All in all, a disappointing evening. And, if your plan to to send us the pre-written response to the effect that all feedback is appreciated - don't bother. We'll still return though not sure why, be we will.
Our food and service were excellent. Our waiter, Andy, spoke fluent Spanish, and was able to give us background on the dishes we ordered, having lived in Spain much of his life. The sommelier consulted with us to choose wine for the table. This was a superior dining experience!
Pricey, but fantastic. Most dishes are great, and some are fantastic.
Standouts this time were the boquerones, the jamon iberico montadito, the paté campagne & chicken liver mousse, and the winter vegetable "poke" (with pickled beets looking uncannily like tuna!).
Reliable faves for us are the patatas bravas, the croquetas, the gambas al ajillo (shrimp), the pulpo a la gallega (octopus), the blackened scallops, the crispy pork belly, and of course the signature dessert, the basque cake (which, after some Googling, I've discovered is in no way what anyone in the Basque region would recognize as a basque cake - but both the traditional and Estrellon's totally-unrelated version are great!).
The paella's been uneven for us - sometimes it's fantastic, and you want to scrape every bit of it out of the pan, and other times it's underwhelming. So, you know, if you like playing the lottery...well, the odds are better on the paella.
Estrellon is my favorite restaurant in Madison! We have been there several times and were wowed every time. Chef has the ability elevate any ingredient, even things you don't usually like, and the Paella is perfection! Don't forget the basque cake for dessert, it's so buttery and baked to the point where the crust is crispy then complimented with a rotating fruit compote and a scoop of sour cream custard.
Fantastic flavors and creative dishes. Great plates for sharing and makes for a wonderful date night spot.
Wanted to write this review to recommend the tasting menu. My wife and I had a lot of fun partaking in it. That and everything was delicious. Also wanted to make special note of the friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive staff. Thanks for a great night!
This is our second visit to Estrellon. We were very impressed again at our visit. The food was hot and explained well by all the servers, wine selections were amazing, and our server recognized us from our previous visit! We were so happy we could take our time eating so that we could catch up with our friends and that the staff kept us at a nice pace that was not rushed.
Amazing food and ambience! Paella was to die for. It was our anniversary and we had a special toast before dinner. ALWAYS order the Basque cake!
The wait was way to long. I I should have never waited for the table I reserved weeks prior the date! I don’t think I can come back!
We really enjoyed our dinner. The Chefs Choice Menu was delicious. What a treat.
Thank You, Tanya and Ryan Quint
