We invite you to enjoy the Volos experience.
Overall great experience!
We ordered the Sagan a
New year’s eve
Not my first visit to Estiatorio Volos and certainly not my last. Any Greek restaurant will give you the spectacle of delicious saganaki flambée (Opa!) but few have such high quality fare as the Volos calamari, fisherman's stew, lamb shank and salmon. The seafood is particularly fresh and appetizing. For dessert, the chocolate mousse was very rich and the baklava, very satisfying. The service was friendly but less than expert for a high-end restaurant. The ambiance was very pleasant. All in all, a lovely evening.
We went to Volos for a birthday celebration in mid December. I had previously been here two weeks before for a corporate lunch.
The service was excused the staff did a great job recommending options. The food was a bit disappointing from the previous lunch date. The grilled calamari was a bit burnt. The moussaka was a bit bland and the portion seemed a bit small. The warm seafood salad was very good.
I was a bit disappointed they didn’t do any gesture for the birthday as the do in other restaurants.
A bit overpriced for what you get. Worth a try if you can’t make it to the Danforth.
Volos is always wonderful. Excellent service, quiet atmosphere . Staff is friendly. Everyone works efficiently. The food is top quality and taste superb.
Thanks you for everyone for making our dining experience a pleasure.
Delicious food and great service. It's on the pricey side, but worth it.
Great food! The server was very knowledgeable about the menu. Would definitely recommend!
Excellent service, had our food out to us in time to make the ballet.
I have been going here for years and it has always been really tasty!
Great options overall but can have more options for folks who don't eat meat.
Overall I was pleased. A little pricy for the amount of food received
Outstanding fish/seafood soup. Calamari appetizer very good.
This is a great place to grab a bite to eat, and maybe a drink before the ballet. Their service is perfectly timed so you don't miss curtains rising.
The food and service were amazing. Our table mostly ordered the Lamb Shank and Salmon and both were delicious. The space was great for our large party of 10. The dessert menu is limited but we still indulged!
Great Central restaurant. Nice ambience more Italian than Greek cuisine to me. Good wine too
Beautiful preparation and presentation, and an excellent selection of Greek wines to accompany.
Classic Greek dishes, elevated well above your regular neighborhood spot. Moussaka, octopus and baklava were all standout dishes.
This is about my 10th time there in the last 3-4 years. Always consistently good
Excellent experts Volos. We went for a business lunch with 6 people. Service was excellent, very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious. Lamb shank was a good portion, warm seafood salad was perfectly cooked. Grilled sea bass can be filleted. Tasty.
The calamari was fresh and grilled perfectly.
Would highly recommend this place. Lovely ambiance.
We had a wonderful time at Volos. The mains were tasty, I would recommend anything seafood. It was cooked perfectly. But the pita was kinda bland and served with oil/balsamic vinegar was not to my personal liking. I wouldn’t mind going back for a more intimate and romantic dinner.
To begin with, you need a host with Greek flair, then you need Greek music, then you need staff who are educated about Greek cuisine and customs. We were served a pita appetizer with balsamic vinegar and olive oil - should have been served with houmous or tzatziki or tarama. When we received our meal, the waiter said "Bon Appetit" instead of "Kali Orexsi". My son was celebrating his name day - the staff had no idea what that was, although the woman who was serving us at the end of the meal was interested to learn. My son wanted a Greek coffee, but she said the staff didn't really know how to make Greek coffee, so she recommended an espresso instead, We ordered a baklava and the woman delivered it to us with a candle on top and it was complimentary, which was much appreciated.
Overall good experience, my party was happy. Food was delicious. Service was not very personable or engaging, also slow. Ambience was exactly right for my dinner party celebration. They charged my guests for slicing fees, even they didn’t all eat dessert. Also, I was not told gratuity would be included in the bill. When I asked a server for a picture of the group, he seemed annoyed and walked away. I needed to ask someone else. Thankful my group was happy and we loved the food, otherwise I would not go back again.
Good food and great service
Went for dinner celebrating 2 birthdays. This was mentioned when reservation was made. However, there was not acknowledgment what so ever in regards to dinner being a birthday celebration. The restaurant was incredibly hot, felt like you were in a sauna (we were seated at the back of the restaurant). This was mentioned to the wait staff, nothing was done. Food overall was very good, served hot, no complaints. However, service was terrible. Waitress didn't even ask for drink orders, we had to remind her. Asked for water, was never brought. Had to ask another staff member. Meals came out at different times. We actually got appetizers, before we even got out drinks. We waited for more than 20 minutes for waitress to get our bill, at the end, again had to ask another staff member to please get our bill.
Would I go back to Volos? Yes, but not anytime soon. Their wait staff needs help. Again, I understand due to Pandemic it's hard to get good help. However, for the caliber of restaurant that Volos claim to be, service was subpar. Was incredibly disappointed with my overall experience. But the food did save the experience.
very hot inside - was literally sweating - and service was average, mains took about 30+ minutes after appetizers. the staff did not seem to have much communication because one person came to take away our spoons and bowls saying that we didn't need those and then our stew came which required bowls and spoons...
We needed at place close to the ballet, and my wife loves Greek cuisine. I did the prix fixed menu, my wife ordered a la carte. My salad, followed by lamb shank was great. My wife had the stuffed grape leaves followed by chicken. The food was very good, not overly salted, tender, and not dried out. Service was great, very friendly and helpful.
Great service and the food was fresh and tasty.
Delicious lamb shank! Tender and flavourful. Would have it again. Very good service.
Although our server was very friendly, service could have definitely been quicker in terms of drink times and regular water top-ups. Appetizers and mains came quite fast. Food is always great!
Excellent seafood salad. Service ok. Pita provided a bit crunchy. Wine was accidentally switched between and my guest.
I was a little disappointed on my recent visit. Ordered a 6 oz. glass of wine at a cost of $17 and was charged $20. My friend’s glass was $14 and was charged $17!! Her pasta lunch came with shrimp which was not stated on the menu, and which she does not like. Her dessert of baklava was a disappointment also. I have eaten at the restaurant many times and have never been disappointed before so it was a bit of a shocker. Let’s hope things improve.
We had the pre ballet menu and it was excellent. Service was also excellent. Good value but wines are pricey. Would recommend.
Great food, service, ambience, everything! Can't wait to go back.
First time patrons and will be back for sure! Both the food and service was amazing! We had the grilled octopus (beautifully prepared), Lamb shank (fell off the bone) and the Fisherman’s stew (flavour galore)!
Food was good - apps are a little over priced and small. Would go back.
Absolutely delicious food. Excellent service. Nice ambiance.
So great to be back at our old local again!
Emilio was a welcoming host and Carla our attentive waitress. Warm seafood salad was superb as was the fish stew!
Menu is well thought-out. Enough choice to give everyone an option, yet not too much choice, which makes it hard to decide and can cause kitchen issues. Cocktail options show some imagination. Wine list is OK. Could use more Greek wines by the glass.
Pita bread is brought to the table with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Baffling, since this is a California creation that riffs on Italian cuisine. Pita bread does not absorb anything. A better idea would be a white bean dip, or just a small dish of warm olives.
Baked lamb sausage starter is excellent, as is the moussaka. Chocolate mousse dessert is satisfying. Solid service. Coat check is a nice touch.
Overall food was great; ordered Moussaka which was surprisingly acidic but very good. Grilled octopus was tender and dolmades are highly recommended to anyone who is experiencing Greek food for the first time. Our server never let our glasses run dry and was very attentive to our table.
One critique: the flambéd cheese was advertised to be a show piece (it's flambéd tableside), but the server came and prepared it while 3 guests were away in the bathroom and without any announcement: half the table was talking and not paying attention. If it is served tableside for flare, the whole table should be given the chance to at least see what is happening. It tasted good though...
Delicious food in cozy atmosphere with great service
