   The food was great but I order the snapper Ernest and found a piece of plastic wrap on the bottom of my fish. I informed the waiter but I suppose they didn’t think it was worth making it up to us in anyway. The food was great again but spending more than 150$ on a two person meal and finding plastic in my food seemed fairly mediocre.

   From out of town, didn't know there was a promotion that night, so waited over an hour past our reservation, but the food was excellent and the staff remained good-natured in spite of the overcrowding and busyness. I recommend Ernest's.

   Our reservation was for 5pm. We were not seated till 6pm. The waiting area was so packed you could not move and more were outside waiting. We ordered marinated crab claws that were so small that they broke off and marinated had a different taste than usual. The shrimp appetizer was fabulous! I ordered Snapper Shreve and was served snapper champagne that was drowned in butter. We have dined at Earnest for many years. But, the last two visits have been very disappointing. Definitely not a $325 (gratuity included) for a party of three dining experience.

    Waiter was not so good concerned more about how busy he was. Did not bother to ask regular drink just if we wanted bar drinks. Secondly he didn’t pay attention to my husband and should have corrected him on the vegetables. First trip very one more attention like you were the only one in the room.

    A reservation especially one through Open Table is worthless a this restaurant. They over book. My reservation for 7:30 pm was made more than two weeks in advance. I arrived at 7:15 pm and waiting until 8 pm. Then when I asked about the status, I was told that the main dining room was "blocked off" I assume for a private event. And, my table would be in the bar. I was also told that if I had called the restaurant as opposed to making a reservation on Open Table I would have been told that. So, I am thinking I may not use Open Table in the future. I'd suggest Open Table drop this restaurant from their platform.

    Upon learning we were to be seated in the crowded, noisy bar, we asked to be seated in main dining area. Refused! We wanted a plate of crab claws, snapper Ernest, salad, bananas Foster, Irish coffee, romantic, quiet evening with atmosphere. We never saw a menu but told only of some sort of special. That was to be enough for two seniors. Got 3 crab claws, tiny salad and tough steak. Bread pudding looked like chocolate ice cream. Drinks were good. Hard to screw up wine! I was entertaining a guest from out of state. Sorely disappointed and embarrassed. 2 John’s next time for sure!!

    I understand ambience however it was a little too dark for me. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to ensure my steak was cooked to my liking. The lemon drop martini was excellent

    Wonderful evening with Steven as our waiter and Leroy as our busboy. They took great care of us and were attentive yet unobtrusive. The veal was perfect and the fish wash flaky and sweet. Thanks, guys for a wonderful experience.

    We celebrated New Year’s Eve at Ernest with friends. As always our meal was spectacular. We had the crab claws for an appetizer as we always do. The claws were big and very tasty. Our dinners consisted of the crab meat au gratin, fried shrimp and fried oysters. We all had salads and baked potatoes. For desert we had bananas foster. Gee served us cocktails and snowbears!! Yum!!! Everything was wonderful. Could not have been better! .

    Steve , my server, was excellent! Food was outstanding Large portions ,so come hungry. A throwback to the ‘ 70’s kind of place but a definite must.

    Ernest has always been the go to place in Shreveport. We have fond memories of many meals there. Tonight was a disappointing one. The drinks and crab claw appetizer were as good as always. The main courses were a disappointment. The waiter forgot to put in one of our orders. When it was rushed out it was not seasoned well and the sauce was wrong. My meal was also under seasoned. Overall a bland and disappointing experience this time.

    I cannot even begin to express my gratitude to this restaurant for the unbelievable "above and beyond" service. My best friend and I traveled from Missouri to Ernest's for the purpose of getting bananas foster tableside (personal connection). I put in the note that this was a special birthday for my friend and I wanted the night to be great for her. Never in a million years did I expect the special night we received. Chef Ernest did our bananas foster personally, my friend was served a special dessert and song, and Chef Ernest delivered a message and gift for my friend that left us both in awe and broke us down into tears immediately. It was the most beautiful night and the people who work in and own this restaurant are literal angels on earth. They restored our souls and we left feeling blessed. In addition, the food was to die for, the atmosphere was picturesque, and I would make the 8-hour drive again and again to support this restaurant. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Rough looking waitstaff, couldn’t give suggestions, only repeated the special. Place looked like there should be a pool table in the corner. We went because it’s supposed to be a famous Shreveport restaurant, but it’s hay day might be in the past. The food was good, but overall I wouldn’t recommend to my friends.

    A great restaurant. Maybe the best overall that I can remember. It is a throwback to the 50’s in the sense of ambience low dinner music etc. we cannot wait until we’re back in Shreveport. We will certainly make reservations again.

    I had to send the soft shell crab back. It was too fishy & didn't taste fresh. They substituted the fried Shrimp & it was good but by the time it was served my otherdinnerpartners had finished their entrees.

    Warmly greeted by our waiter Jordan. We ordered the marinated crab claws ($18) which were served with a gremolata. This dish was excellent. At Jordan’s recommendation we all ordered the Snapper Shreve ($52). This entree was horrible. The fish was old, dry and very fishy tasting and the crabmeat topping was equally fishy. I could not eat it and sent it back. My dining companions were not comfortable sending their’s back but they did not like it. Jordan was very understanding and handled the situation professionally. I replaced my entree with fried shrimp because I thought that would be safe. Six shrimp for $32. The shrimp were ok but not outstanding. The entrees were way overpriced. I realize Shreveport in not near the coast so transportation costs are higher but the quality of the product they are serving is lacking. I have no interest in returning to Ernest’s.
