We went for restaurant week. My wife had an interesting appetizer; I had an interesting if salty chicken dish; and we both had great desserts.
As always our server Debra was incredibly gracious, efficient, and as personable as anyone
we have met in our dining experiences. (We've been dining out weekly or more for the past
35 years.). The specialty halibut was incredibly fresh with grilled asparagus and grilled
shishito peppers to add some counterpoint. The rhubarb glaze was perfect. My wife's Sole Remoulade was also very good. The Tuscan white bean soup hit the spot. On Debra's
recommendation we ordered a couple of specialty ( Oxley gin) martinis that went down
far to easily. We decided to splurge and order the freshly deep-fried doughnuts with
caramel sauce. The restaurant had to widen the doorway frames for us to leave the place.
NOT. Can't beat this local joint for dependably good food and exceptional service.
Food was wonderful and service was generally good, we did have to ask 3 servers for something after we asked our original server and they went missing.
Always excellent and inventive food in an vibrant bistro atmosphere. Fine wine list, friendly service.
Delicious food, knowledgeable staff, great service, cozy location. Tables are a bit too close together, but that's a great opportunity to meet new people!
We were your returning guests (surely not gods of your namesake inspired) last evening for dinner with our 13 year old niece visiting us from the east coast during her spring vacation from school.
Ambience was, as anticipated, very LOUD.
The service was challenged and irregular, you should ask our waitress about her challenge opening a bottle of white wine. The worst example of waiter corkage, ever.
The challenge and profound disappointments was with the cuisine, we started with Manila Clams– fine but unimpressive (the broth was bland and was that couscous?). Next was House Made Burrata – not edible, the Burrata had a heavy exterior skin almost like plastic wrap – sent back, the waitress agreed. The steak entrees – stone cold plates, cold asparagus and burned mashed potatoes, clearly made early and left under heating lamps or similar then left to die a cold death. A Marquita pizza for our niece – ingredients not integrated – literally toppings falling off soggy crust. There is more but you surely appreciate the E.PU.LO culinary failures at execution.
Your words -
“A great dish starts with the finest ingredients and a chef’s creativity. A great meal is much more – it’s a journey that fills you up. It leaves you feeling cared for, satisfied.
Using the best local and seasonal ingredients from the garden, the land, and the sea. Epulo Bistro’s menu lets the quality of the food shine. Using the time-honored techniques and passion of the Mediterranean region, Epulo Bistro’s menu is a celebration of Europe’s influence on Northwest Food.
All restaurants have off nights, likely this was one for E.PU.LO.
Is restaurant week having negative effects on service and cuisine, possible?
Please investigate and advise.
Great cocktails. The bartenders know their craft. The food was excellent. Delivered to the table by the chef/owner. Very enjoyable. It was a busy Friday evening and was a little loud for quiet conversation, but overall a wonderful evening. We will return.
We love this place. Great service, cocktails, and local fresh ingredients. We always try to make it a special night. Save room because you will want to try everything!
Servers and hostess were great. Handcrafted cocktails not so much. Perhaps our arriving at 4:30 PM was too early for the kitchen to be up to speed? We were dining for the Seattle Restaurant Week event, and looking forward to finding a new, local dining option that was highly rated.
Food quality, portion size, and specialty drinks were unfortunately disappointing.
This was my second experience at this restaurant. The first time was a little better. Previously we got booth seating, which was really comfortable. This time we got a table, kind of awkwardly wedged into a corner in front of the kitchen. No ambiance. Thankfully, we weren't at the sad tables next to the bathroom. Most of our food was delicious, but overall, I think the food was overly salted. The wine selection is awesome. I would come here again, but I would make sure to get a booth next time.
Great food and service - I love this place
We come here often and enjoy it very much, but Epulo does’t always have fish (which is my dish of choice). Tonight, however, the special was halibut, perfectly prepared, not too dry—excellent. My dinner companions both had the Bolognese and loved it. Epulo was offering a new salad of shaved vegetables, which was delicious, and is now my favorite salad. The service is attentive and friendly, but not hovering. It was Friday; they are crazy busy, but we did not feel rushed. We enjoyed our dinner, savored our wine, and left happy
Epulo never ceases to amaze.
Our early Wednesday evening dinner was flawless and would have been appropriate for any special occasion in the finest Seattle restaurants.
From the moment we arrived and were seated the service was prompt, professional, and attentive without being intrusive. We opted for small plates of lamb chops and pear Gorgonzola pizza, with a decadent Theo's chocolate dessert. The presentations were most pleasing and the quality of the food was outstanding.
This has, for the past seven years been our favorite place to celebrate or just to relax and enjoy fine dining in a relaxed and pleasing venue. Don't miss out on giving them a try. You'll be glad you did.
Just a terrific gem in Edmonds!
Service, drinks, and vibe of the place were outstanding. The seasonal steak dish left too much of a harsh smoke taste in your mouth and the appetizer took over 25 minutes to come out. I think I would go back for drinks at the bar, but maybe not full service meals.
I made the reservations for my granddaughter's birthday dinner...very crowded noisy and not at all worth the amount we had to pay. My granddaughter is disabled so I asked for a booth...the table we were pushed into was very small and about a foot from the next table.....I was told they do not give a booth to two people. Service was very slow..waitress not at all responsive....we asked for bread because of the long wait and were charged $5 for four small pieces of dried out bread. I will not go back. As a long time Edmonds resident I was terribly disappointed. I will not recommend this restaurant at all.
Our favorite restaurant. We are foodies. They remember everything about us,best food, servers are top notch.
Our dining experience at Epulo never disappoints. They do an amazing job every time we dine with them. They are our favorite restaurant in Edmonds!!
Solid Italian food. Recommended. Good happy hour.
My wife and I stumbled upon this restaurant when visiting Edmonds in December. We loved it so much we came back with our daughter and her fiance. The atmosphere is warm. It was very crowded both times but the noise level was moderate and it was easy to hear my tablemates - and my hearing is a bit compromised. The food as delicious, a nice variety of options, and they have great pizzas. We had an excellent bottle of red wine from a local winery that is not available in stores, so that felt and tasted special. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We will be back.
Great service and food. Make a reservation because it fills up quickly. We shared 3 different appetizers and one main course for a really tasty variety
Great place. Great food. Great ALL. Tried many small plates. Loved them
Epulo is my go to place in Edmonds! I had made a reservation for 2 and our party grew to 5! They were very accommodating (it was early 4pm) so it was easy to get us all in as we trickled in. Food was good and happy hour is always a reasonable and fun way to try a lot of things. Always a great time!
Always a pleasure to revisit epulo! Ever since this cozy bistro opened, we've come here about twice a year for a parental meal out. Sharing plates here is a fun way to sample delicious, creative food. Wood fired items a special signature here. The gnocchi with arrabiato sauce was wonderful on a chilly winter evening, the gnocchi were light, delightfully seared on one side, went beautifully with the spicy arrabiato with studs of kalamata olives. Roasted cauliflower this outing was a tad underdone to me, would prefer the grana padano grated to better coat the florets. Toasted bread with burrata was lovely stuff, could have used some more fennel, a little balsamic would have made it even better.
We shared a superb meal with friends after a play. Epulo is one of our favorite restaurants on the Seattle side of Puget Sound.
Wonderful place- great food and great service
Met friends before the theater. Great place to laugh and chat. And eats are always superb. A place to return too. Veal chop was humongous!
The problem that we encountered was that our table was situated next to the kitchen. There was noise aplenty as used dishes and silverware were brought directly next to our table -- often dropped on the floor or thrown into the bin for the dishwasher. This all happened behind me so that it always came as a surprise. After a half hour, I just wanted to get out of the restaurant. Too bad.
This dinner was done on Valentine's Day, so I expected it to be busy and crowded. That isn't the issue. We did the special occasion chef's dinner. The food was ok, nothing special and a couple of the dishes were just not well planned or executed. The timing of the courses was terrible. We waiting and then got 1 course and then the second a couple of minutes later. Then that happened again. The server was very polite and was very helpful, even offered some free soup.
The holiday might have been the cause for the delays, but the food was not special occasion food for the HIGH price.
It was Valentines 2018 and crazy busy. They were doing there best to take care of everyone with great attitudes. The atmosphere was perfect, service great no excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. As always, they did not disappoint on theis special night with my Beautiful lady. Thank you Epulo Bistro staff!!
Although we were very unhappy about being seated in the bar the night was a success. On Vday the place is very busy & the bar couldn't be avoided because we were a party of 5. They made it right with a nice bottle of wine for free & a heart felt we're sorry.
The food is always great as their special menu's are always a treat. Service is always above the norm. One of our guest even stated "this is the best dinner I've ever had" & that says a lot!
Great date night! We had our Valentine’s Day Dinner here, and we didn’t regret it!
Great food. Greater service. We will be back. Comfortable seating.
Clams were very tasty but the deep fried calamari and rock shrimp had too much breading which fell off the fish. Wine was good, service was great! We tried 2 different desserts, pumpkin cake and the chocolate decadence type cake with the oreo crust. We thought both were delicious and not overly sweet...
Went to another restaurant that had a long wait (didn't get reservations) so I went on Open Table and found this bistro that was close. Great food, good atmosphere.
Great signature drinks :)
There are many excellent restaurants in Edmonds and Epulo is at the top of our list.
We can always rely on an interesting menu, helpful service, and tasty preparation. Saturday was our 30th wedding anniversary and we wanted a special restaurant for the occasion. Epulo did not disappoint. Our waiter was Dustin who made several helpful menu suggestions. Our thanks to him and to everyone who helped make a special evening for a special occasion.
The menu choices give you a good variety to chose from. Salads and veggies are great. Good wine selection
We live close but have only been a couple of times. After this experience we plan to put it in the rotation. Looking forward to our next visit.
The food was delicious. The braised short ribs were outstanding! So tender and flavorful. And the service was impeccable. Love this place!
