Emmer & Rye
Emmer & Rye is a restaurant designed around the farmer’s haul, featuring a menu that changes daily with a focus on seasonal and local cuisine. Heirloom grains are milled fresh for house made pastas, breads, and desserts, whole animal butchery is done on site, and an extensive in house fermentation program captures flavors at their peak and preserves them for the off season.

The front door man Otis was very hunky and helpful. Other than that the service from the rest of the staff was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and fun. This provides for a unique dining experience in which a few hours seems to feel like a few minutes.
Excellent meal. Everything was great but we really loved the corn dogs.
Do not book the patio unless your are prepared to freeze. Not heated properly. The hostess wouldn’t find us an indoor table. We ended up sitting u
We went to the restaurant because it was well recommended. It is a trendy place with very loud music. It offers small plates and pricy drinks. It has a small menu. We tried two starters, one cold tuna and one hot shrimp, which were good. Our second course were pasta dishes which were not very special.. My dessert was interesting but not something I would like to eat again. I think this restaurant is OVER-HYPED AND EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET.
Such a fun dining experience! Will 100% come back when I visit Austin next!! PS you have to try the blistered carrots and baguette with ricotta!!!
The server, was great. The service, was great. The wine, was great. The food, was by far the saltiest meal I have ever eaten in my life. We got the taster menu, and couldn’t finish any of the courses, due to the insane amount of over salting. I am not one to complain about food being salty, however this was so outrageous that I can only assume that there was a mistake in the kitchen.
Emmer & Rye was a top notch dining experience. Our server, Alex (excellent) recommended the tasting menu, which was very nearly perfect. Original and delicious, the portions coursed over the evening were on point. Umami, Baby, and I’m not exaggerating. Get reservations if you can, and let the staff (a great team) work their magic. Our best meal in a loooong time. Go on. Love yourself!
The food and service were outstanding! The homemade kombucha was to die for! It's really cool that they use cultivated and foraged foods and actively teach their staff how to explain all of it to the guests
Amazing cocktails, super creative and delicious menu! Local fresh ingredients. The pastas are to die for! And the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to go back.
Our group of four women ordered the Chef’s Tasting Dinner, and it was a treat! Each dish was beautiful, elegantly flavored and the dishes were explained/described in wonderful detail by our servers/chefs. Highly recommended!
The best meal I have had in years. The pairings were creative and delicious, I am looking for any excuse to go back.
What a wonderful all around culinary experience. Amazing food, amazing service, can’t wait to come back!
Fantastic service, which especially matters because a lot of the plates require an explanation. For example, I would never expect blistered carrots to be so delicious and interesting. Much of the menu changes frequently so no point detailing our choices, but I do suggest following your waitperson’s recommendations.
The cacio e pepe dish was amazing! As was the garlic ice cream! Our server was very knowledgable and had great suggestions.
We've been not eating out at restaurants over the COVID virus time period. But we recently got to two weeks after our second Moderna vaccine shot, and decided to celebrate at one of our favorite spots. It was really worth eating there again. Erin, our server, was top notch at explaining what was on the menu, and the entire staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They also maintained a safe and healthy experience, with masks, tables spread far enough from one another to be safe, and careful serving techniques. The mix of vegetables in all selections, and savory-sweet combinations was outstanding. And the desserts (we had the black garlic ice cream) were divine. Make sure to leave room for them.
It was a great experience! Dinner was amazing as always, along with the impeccable service.
We really wanted to like Emmer & Rye. The food was actually pretty good but the experience was a little bit of a disaster. We had a reservation at 7:45pm and arrived a little bit early around 7:35. Our table was not ready which was expected as we arrived early. But it then took 35 minutes to be seated. By the time we got sat it was 8:10. We had our drinks in hand, as the hostess was nice enough to take our order while we waiting for our table. When we got seated with our drinks, our server came over and greeted us and then said he would give us a few minutes to look over the menu. He didn't come back for 15 minutes. I know it's not his fault as he probably didn't know that we were waiting 30 minutes past our reservation and pretty hungry . We then ordered the tasting menu which was pretty good but each course took forever to come out of the kitchen. We arrived at 7:35 and had to ask for our dessert to go as it was already 10:30 pm and we still had a final course (Dessert) for the tasting menu. If we would of stayed for dessert and then waited for our server to feel like dropping the check it would have been close to 11pm. We felt like it was too long of a service. Especially when we are purchasing the tasting menu, which is small bites. Glad we came in but not really thrilled with the overall experience!
First time with a friend.
Excellent All Around Experience!
A worthwhile experience! We tried the tasting menu and we loved every bite. They even accommodated one of us with gf options. The savory dishes were delicious and even the sorbet was excellent. A must try for a special visit or a picky foodie!
Such a wonderful and ever changing menu! Complex flavors & textures with every bite and the cocktails are second to NONE! Truly one of the best restaurants in Austin with PERFECT service!
Great service. Lovely setting. Unusual and delicious food.
Incredible. Just incredible ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of the best, innovative, original, fresh and exiting meals I have had in a long time!!!! This chef is a super-talented artist!!! Can;t wait to go back to Austin to eat at his restaurant.
Was really excited to try here but My experience was not the best. I love tapas and frequently dine at restaurants that offer a tapas menu. Between the 2 of us we ordered abt 7 different plates and of the 7 we probably really liked 2 or 3, the flavor pairings of most of the dishes need some work. They also took a really long time to bring our plates. They served our dishes one by one which caused us to be there like 3 hours! The cocktail offerings weren’t the best either. The garlic ice cream was amazing and that was prob the best thing we tried. Prob would never go back, the ambience was great though. Service was meh as well.
Excellent experience, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
We went for our anniversary and absolutely loved it. We were blown away by the food, drinks, and service. I would highly recommend.
Had the tasting menu. Delicious. Definitely had our favorites...
The pasta was the most incredible I have ever tasted.
Fantastic food and service
Fabulous food and service. All in all great dining experience, highly recommended.
Was a most unusual meal. Very good food. Excellent service. Had a great meal, and they took care of everything for us. Would recommend for any special event.
First time visiting Austin, TX and first time visiting Emmer & Rye. One of if not the BEST food experiences I have had. Between the service, in depth explanations of everything on the menu and how amazing the food was, this was an amazing experience and dinner meal. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful in every way, and truly made sure that we had a great time. Hopefully we will be able to visit Austin again soon to come back here!
Emmer and Rye is my favorite restaurant in Austin, so considering that, it met all expectations and exceeded them again. As fresh as it comes, farm to table, and everything was truly exceptional. I very highly recommend this restaurant!
Great place to take out of town guests!
We had the BEST experience, from the wait staff to the food: every bite of food was such a unique experience. The wine was amazing too. Can’t recommend this place enough!
Amazing! We loved every single dish we ate! And our server was absolutely amazing- every recommendation was perfect.
Don’t walk, run to Emmer & Rye. By far our best eating experience while visiting Austin. GO!!
We are from Minneapolis and winter in Austin. You might find a place to give it a run in Montreal, if lucky. This is absolutely dining at a level few establishments can and will ever attain.
It was amazing!!!
The tasting menu with wine parings is a fun experience! It’s worth the cost and makes for a great evening. We would do it again. They described each course and the service is excellent!
