It was my husband’s birthday & he really wanted to have schnitzel. Elizabeth’s did not disappoint. There are several schnitzels offered on the menu. The waitress was very friendly & sent over a small slice of Black Forest cake as a treat for the “birthday boy”. They were very accommodating when my daughter & I both asked for more veggies instead of potato for our bratwurst dishes. The fresh hot bread was readily available. It’s a very nice old fashioned restaurant. Nothing fancy, perfect for families.
I forwarded a review - to an e-mail address found on your website - the day following our recent experience on February 14. I will summarise:
1) Reservation system was extremely poorly managed. It devolved into simply a lineup to enter the restaurant and reservations were ignored.
2) Quality of meals served was not good...
a) Three people ordered filet mignon. They did not enjoy their selections. They were served mashed potatoes with their orders and were not afforded to select the potatoes they wanted with their orders, like the menu stipulated.
b) I ordered Schnitzel Madagascar. it was tasty, but tasted, as well, overcooked. I asked for some additional peppercorn sauce with my schnitzel, excepting that it would be served on the schnitzel when my meal was delivered. Instead, the server, after bringing my meal, later returned to the table with a small ladle of sauce. I was surprised to find that I was charged - when the bill arrived - $4.00 additional for this extra sauce. I had never experienced extra billing in this fashion in a restaurant before.
c) The potatoes that were served with my meal were of a "homefried" variety. they were overcooked and "mushy" - more like you would expect in a lower priced breakfast kind of restaurant, than in a restaurant your venue advertises itself as.
d) One of the servers who attended our table - a taller, slender lady, with longer blond hair tied back in a pony tail (essentially replenished our water glasses) - appeared very unhappy and did not add at all to our enjoyment of our evening.
e) Two of us ordered glasses of beer when we sat down at our table. Our drinks were not replenished, nor were we asked if wanted them replenished.
Overbooked reservations for Valentines Day then couldn't effectively deal with overflow or upset customers. Not a great way to do business! Waiter more than made up for it and was left a nice tip!
So very disappointed to arrive at Elisabeth's 5 minutes prior to our reserved time to find a long lineup full of upset guests due to gross overbooking. We were jammed in after a 40 minute wait, very noisy...and poor service... We have been coming for years and years and have never been so disappointed and let down as we were on Feb.14
Food was okay but we were rushed as restaurant closes at 9pm
Great food, attentive service, excellent value. We mentioned it was a birthday when booking, and they put a vase of fresh flowers at the head of the table. Lovely gesture.
Thank you to the staff at Elisabeth Chalet. Went for my sons birthday, there was 7 of us. Service, food and ambiance were absolutely suburb. Highly recommend. Will be coming back soon.
Very good vegetarian choices as well.
This was a birthday dinner that was reserved for twelve people. Everyone enjoyed their choices of dinner. The waitress was excellent and very attentive. We enjoyed the evening.
Our only complaint was that the service was almost too good. At one point, we had 3 different servers ask to take out plates within 3 min. My husband had his fork in his hand with food on it.
Great staff, very friendly. The people there are awesome and will help in any way. The food is good and we will definitely return!
