Lovely old world charm, great atmosphere if you want to be able to actually talk with your table companions. Wonderful steaks and German specialties, what a lovely way to spend an evening with good friends!
We thoroughly enjoyed the variety of choices and large portions. Everything was perfect for our Anniversary & they even sang to us with a cute bouquet and a candle on our crème brûlée! Thanks for making our 41st memorable!
Food was delicious & service was good. However, our seating was awkward being in an awkward spot. The restaurant was very noisy because of where we were seated.
Haven't been here in years but most certainly not disappointed. Just like we remember it. Excellent food and wonderful service. Looking forward to returning. Thank you for making our Mother's 80th Birthday so special!
Repeat visit after a couple of years, very good then and now just as great. Enjoyed it. Will return.
The restaurant was busy, but very welcoming, the staff was super, friendly and quick. The food was delicious. Can't wait to go back !
This was not our first time at Elizabeth's Chalet but definitely not our best. The Roladen were dry, the Prime Rib was tasteless. The other 3 meals were up to the standard we expect from the restaurant.
Excellent food with impeccable service from our friendly waiter and support staff Best oysters Rockefeller in south Surrey
I took my sons and daughter in law to Elisabeth’s in celebratiin of their birthdays. It was their first time to the restaurant. My sons had the prime rib and said it was excellent. I had my usual choice of Franz Lehar which is snitzel with crab, asparagus and hollandaise sauce. My d-i-l had a snitzel as well. All of our meals were served hot and in a timely fashion. Our server, Nigel was very friendly and was attentive.
We have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years and will continue to go.
There are very few German restaurants around only fast food restaurants that are very noisy.
They didn't seem to have our reservation but seated us anyways. The food is always good and good service.
greeted nicely and did not have to wait for a table. table was set for four but we were two however they never took the extra place settings, which bothered me as even Rickys removes the extra settings.
Waiter was quite pleasant and attentive to our needs, and did not rush us at all. He explained the specials and offered us drinks. we had the appetizers; French onion soup and tiger prawns. both were ok but not repeatable. We each had a different Schnitzel which were both excellent; portions are huge. People near us were having the apple strudel with ice-cream which sounded great , but I couldn't finish my meal so I passed. so two drinks, two appys, to mains and a good tip $85 +/-. very good value in my book. of note it seems to be a business casual attire for most patrons. Will go back!!
Nice and cozy place
Serving size are large. European atmosphere . Attentive service. Restaurant has been around for a long time . Known for its schnitzel. Worth a visit
Friendly staff. Early dinner (5pm) no waiting for a table.
Request in the middle of the meal was promplty dealt with.
Disappointing service...no contact with server once meal arrived (e.g. Would you like another beer or a cola refill? How is the meal?) Assistant servers, not busy, but very preoccupied with refilling water glasses, but clear your table only by request! Meal looks very good as it arrives: substantial portion, with numerous vegetables. But taste is lacking & meat is clearly not veal, as would be expected in wiener schnitzel: A little tough, with some sinew.
Overpriced and underwhelming
The prime rib is SO SO GOOD. I've heard the goulash is also good. But I'll always do prime rib. If you have room go for the lemon meringue pie.
Best German food in Lower Mainland. Service is excellent.
Very busy restaurant. Staff was rushed, perhaps someone was not available for the evening.
Food was excellent, wait staff very friendly. Will definitely return for dinner and recommend to others. Again perhaps more staff would be an asset.
I didn't feel like cooking dinner on Easter Sunday, so we decided to come to the Elisabeth Chalet. Great service, amazing food and drinks. We came for Valentine's dinner too. Consistent quality and service is always appreciated.
Long established quality restaurant. Staff very friendly...obviously many return/regular customers there. Good basic food. Reasonably priced.
We are always searching for authentic Bavarian/German cuisine so were very excited to find this restaurant so close to our new home. When our server arrived, we informed her that it was our first visit. We waited 45 minutes for our appetizer, which was delicious but came only minutes before our entrees. The food was very good; taste, presentation. Our wine and beer were very good. While we waited a few minutes to digest, our server brought our bill without offering dessert and coffee. The room might have been cozy but the patrons at the next table were extremely loud so we found it hard to hear our own conversation.
We would go back for the food, though it's a bit pricey, and hopefully we'd be seated in a quieter spot.
We all enjoy the food here and what you can not see on the website are the Vegetarian Schnitzel options! They are very delicious! Service is consistently very good.
Had not been here for several years - still good food friendly Staff and nice ambiance
Food was delicious, a big serving that we almost couldn't finish. Great schnitzel. Service was very good! Enjoyed the evening.
Best restaurant in the area. Good value I thought.
Excellent food, as always, but the server was terrible...mixed up our appetizers, forgot to order one appetizer, then brought out the wrong one, then totally mixed up the bill...(2 couples-2 bills) nice lady but very ditzy
It was my husband’s birthday & he really wanted to have schnitzel. Elizabeth’s did not disappoint. There are several schnitzels offered on the menu. The waitress was very friendly & sent over a small slice of Black Forest cake as a treat for the “birthday boy”. They were very accommodating when my daughter & I both asked for more veggies instead of potato for our bratwurst dishes. The fresh hot bread was readily available. It’s a very nice old fashioned restaurant. Nothing fancy, perfect for families.
I forwarded a review - to an e-mail address found on your website - the day following our recent experience on February 14. I will summarise:
1) Reservation system was extremely poorly managed. It devolved into simply a lineup to enter the restaurant and reservations were ignored.
2) Quality of meals served was not good...
a) Three people ordered filet mignon. They did not enjoy their selections. They were served mashed potatoes with their orders and were not afforded to select the potatoes they wanted with their orders, like the menu stipulated.
b) I ordered Schnitzel Madagascar. it was tasty, but tasted, as well, overcooked. I asked for some additional peppercorn sauce with my schnitzel, excepting that it would be served on the schnitzel when my meal was delivered. Instead, the server, after bringing my meal, later returned to the table with a small ladle of sauce. I was surprised to find that I was charged - when the bill arrived - $4.00 additional for this extra sauce. I had never experienced extra billing in this fashion in a restaurant before.
c) The potatoes that were served with my meal were of a "homefried" variety. they were overcooked and "mushy" - more like you would expect in a lower priced breakfast kind of restaurant, than in a restaurant your venue advertises itself as.
d) One of the servers who attended our table - a taller, slender lady, with longer blond hair tied back in a pony tail (essentially replenished our water glasses) - appeared very unhappy and did not add at all to our enjoyment of our evening.
e) Two of us ordered glasses of beer when we sat down at our table. Our drinks were not replenished, nor were we asked if wanted them replenished.
Overbooked reservations for Valentines Day then couldn't effectively deal with overflow or upset customers. Not a great way to do business! Waiter more than made up for it and was left a nice tip!
So very disappointed to arrive at Elisabeth's 5 minutes prior to our reserved time to find a long lineup full of upset guests due to gross overbooking. We were jammed in after a 40 minute wait, very noisy...and poor service... We have been coming for years and years and have never been so disappointed and let down as we were on Feb.14
Food was okay but we were rushed as restaurant closes at 9pm
Great food, attentive service, excellent value. We mentioned it was a birthday when booking, and they put a vase of fresh flowers at the head of the table. Lovely gesture.
Thank you to the staff at Elisabeth Chalet. Went for my sons birthday, there was 7 of us. Service, food and ambiance were absolutely suburb. Highly recommend. Will be coming back soon.
Very good vegetarian choices as well.
This was a birthday dinner that was reserved for twelve people. Everyone enjoyed their choices of dinner. The waitress was excellent and very attentive. We enjoyed the evening.
Our only complaint was that the service was almost too good. At one point, we had 3 different servers ask to take out plates within 3 min. My husband had his fork in his hand with food on it.
Great staff, very friendly. The people there are awesome and will help in any way. The food is good and we will definitely return!
Very nice place for dinner. Staff is very friendly and courteous.
Always an enjoyable experience
Great food and warm friendly setting
